Till the End of the Moon Episode 27 Recap
> Till the End of the Moon Recap
Pian Ran and Ye Qingyu arrived at the dungeon just in time, saving Ye Xiwu from the brink of death. When Tantai Jin learned how close Ye Xiwu had been to dying, he was filled with dread. He declared that Ye Xiwu's life belonged to him, and she was forbidden to die without his permission. Soon after, Pang Yizhi sought an audience with Tantai Jin, offering a divination in exchange for something in return.
Pang Yizhi revealed the divination showed Tantai Jin would suddenly lose his beloved, suffer lifelong regret, be unable to reclaim his love, and be trapped in the underworld forever. However, there were two slivers of hope: one in thunder and one in water, though Pang Yizhi admitted his lack of proficiency prevented him from elaborating. Pang Yizhi then requested a bottle of Tantai Jin's heart blood, offering a thunder-attribute artifact in exchange: the Yin-Yang Twin Bracelets.
He explained that if two people wore the bracelets, the owner of the Yin bracelet would not die as long as the owner of the Yang bracelet was alive, essentially using the Yang bracelet owner's lifespan to ward off death for the Yin bracelet owner. He also warned that once worn, the bracelets could not be removed.
Despite Nian Baiyu's caution regarding his already injured meridians and Pang Yizhi's unknown intentions, Tantai Jin, hearing that the Yin-Yang Twin Bracelets could avert death, resolutely extracted his heart blood to exchange for them. Unknown to Tantai Jin, Pang Yizhi had performed another divination for the deceased Xiao Lin, unexpectedly discovering a sliver of hope, which prompted his reckless demand for Tantai Jin's heart blood.
After receiving the Yin-Yang Twin Bracelets, Tantai Jin placed the Yang bracelet on his own arm and the Yin bracelet on Ye Xiwu's. As expected, Ye Xiwu's pulse rapidly recovered due to the bracelets' power. Tantai Jin ordered Nian Baiyu to keep Ye Xiwu confined to the Chilly Ward once she awoke and strictly forbade anyone, including Ye Xiwu herself, from being told about the bracelets.
He further explained that Ye Xiwu was now his weakness, and her death would deduct from his own lifespan. Regarding Ye Bingchang, Tantai Jin was informed she had attempted to kill Ye Xiwu to avenge Xiao Lin. Tantai Jin stated that he himself was responsible for Xiao Lin's death. He ordered Ye Bingchang to be imprisoned in the dungeon, never to be released unless she died.
Later, Nian Baiyu voiced his suspicion of Pang Yizhi and concern about the bracelets, but Tantai Jin dismissed him, claiming indifference to matters not concerning Ye Xiwu's survival. Secretly, Tantai Jin received elixirs from warlocks, confirming his life was indeed being shortened for Ye Xiwu. He was relieved to hear Ye Xiwu was eating and no longer seeking death but dismissed Nian Baiyu's suggestion to visit her, stating he was uninterested in such minor details as long as she lived.
In the Chilly Ward, Ye Xiwu noticed her water bucket was mysteriously refilled, a silent act of care from Tantai Jin. While unconscious, Ye Xiwu's consciousness re-entered the Barren Abyss, where she encountered Ji Ze. She expressed deep remorse for failing to kill the Devil God and for the guilt she felt towards Tantai Jin. Ji Ze revealed that her destiny with Tantai Jin was predetermined, and no matter what, their path would always lead to the same outcome.
He told her that if she did not want to fail Tantai Jin, she would have to fail all of creation. Ji Ze then reminded her of a past dream, tear, and thread of silk. Ye Xiwu realized the tear was the Soul-slaying Teardrop, the silk was Tantai Jin's love thread, and the dream was Bo're Life.
Ji Ze showed her the vision of Ming Ye sacrificing his divine essence to replace Sang Jiu's demon bone, urging her not to fall into delusion and to seize the opportunity. Awakening, Ye Xiwu understood that just as Ming Ye used divine essence to replace a demon bone with the power of lightning, she could also use immortal essence to replace Tantai Jin's evil bone, thus preventing the Devil God's rebirth.
Realizing her current body lacked immortal power, she decided to harness the power of the World-overturning Jade, a gem forged from the combined immortal essence of the Flying Serpent clan, capable of overturning heaven and earth. She acknowledged the intense backlash she would suffer, but believed this was the destined karma. She reflected on her rapidly deteriorating eyesight and hearing due to the Jade's backlash, wondering if she would still be able to recognize Tantai Jin's face.
She determined that Ji Ze's barrier would not hold much longer, and she needed to quickly cultivate immortal essence. Feeling she had ultimately failed Tantai Jin, she resolved to repay him with her life. Meanwhile, officials in the Jing Kingdom discussed Tantai Jin's increasingly harsh rule and rumors of his declining health due to heart meridian damage and a shortened lifespan.
In the Southern Border, Tantai Minglang, whose own life was waning due to consuming a demonic elixir, showcased the Ruo Water Puppets to Fu Yu. He boasted that these puppets, made from captured civilians, could control thousands and endlessly absorb demonic power. Tantai Minglang instructed Fu Yu to spread news of his presence in the Southern Border, believing Tantai Jin would personally come, thus allowing him to drag Tantai Jin to hell with him.
Tantai Jin, informed of the puppet demon soldiers plaguing the Southern Border, decided to personally lead the campaign against Tantai Minglang. Upon arriving, he discovered numerous civilians trapped within a poisonous miasma-filled stronghold. Suspecting an ambush, Tantai Jin disregarded his own injured heart meridians and forcefully channeled his power to dispel the miasma and battle the demon soldiers, prioritizing the rescue of the trapped civilians. Watching from afar, Tantai Minglang anticipated Tantai Jin's magical power would soon deplete.
Before departing, Tantai Jin had entrusted Ye Qingyu with guarding the capital, a sign of profound trust. Later, while Ye Qingyu was training and Pian Ran was checking the city gates, Tantai Minglang and Fu Yu covertly infiltrated the Jing capital through a lightly guarded side gate connecting to the old city. Pian Ran quickly discovered their presence. Fu Yu engaged Pian Ran in combat while Tantai Minglang proceeded into the capital with his demon soldiers.
Ye Qingyu arrived with the city guards to resist the invading demon forces. Pian Ran fiercely fought and ultimately killed Fu Yu. As Tantai Minglang aimed a Demon-hunting Crossbow at Pian Ran, Ye Qingyu swiftly intervened, taking the fatal arrow for her. In his dying moments, Ye Qingyu looked at Pian Ran, expressing that although he had failed his kingdom and family, dying to protect innocent civilians and his beloved was a worthy end.
He regretted not meeting her sooner, wishing he could have loved and doted on her earlier. He asked if she would remember him in the centuries to come, just as she remembered Jiang Rao. Distraught, Pian Ran refused to let him die, refusing to suffer the pain of losing someone she loved twice, as she had with Jiang Rao. Acknowledging that her heart now truly belonged to him, Pian Ran made a selfless sacrifice. She extracted her demonic elixir to revive Ye Qingyu, then kissed him tenderly before collapsing and dying in his arms.
