As Jiang Cheng confronted Wei Wuxian about the core transfer, Wen Ning admitted that he had revealed the secret to Jiang Cheng while he was unconscious, as they departed Lotus Pier. Wei Wuxian quickly interjected, explaining that he had repeatedly told Wen Ning to keep it a secret. Jiang Cheng, however, was consumed by a mix of anger and sorrow. He sarcastically questioned Wei Wuxian's selflessness, mocking whether he should kneel in gratitude.

Jiang Cheng accused Wei Wuxian of always appearing superior, excelling in talent, cultivation, and temperament, just as their father had often praised Wei Wuxian as the true embodiment of the Jiang clan's principles. Lan Wangji and others tried to intercede, warning Jiang Cheng that his agitation would worsen his injuries. Jiang Cheng, however, continued his furious outburst, lamenting that despite being the true heir of the Jiang clan, he had always been overshadowed by Wei Wuxian.

He bitterly recalled how the Jiang family had given Wei Wuxian so much, only to lose their lives—his father, mother, and sister, even Jin Zixuan—all because of Wei Wuxian, leaving Jin Ling an orphan. Jiang Cheng demanded to know who truly broke their oath first, recounting Wei Wuxian’s solemn promise to be his lifelong subordinate, never betray the Jiang clan, and together form the "Twin Prides of Yunmeng" to surpass the "Twin Jades of Gusu."

He accused Wei Wuxian of abandoning them to protect outsiders from the Wen clan, defecting without hesitation. Wei Wuxian quietly stated that he kept the truth hidden precisely because he didn't want to see Jiang Cheng in such anguish. Jiang Cheng pressed him, asking why he should feel like he owed Wei Wuxian an apology, feeling like a clown in the shadow of Wei Wuxian's glory.

Finally, Wei Wuxian apologized to Jiang Cheng for breaking his promise, acknowledging that he had gone back on his word. Jiang Cheng dismissively replied that at this point, he didn't need Wei Wuxian's apologies. Wei Wuxian then told Jiang Cheng there was no need for an apology, stating that he considered his actions a repayment of a debt to the Jiang clan.

He urged Jiang Cheng to let go of the past, expressing that those painful events now felt like a previous life, and hoped they could both cease dwelling on them. Suddenly, Nie Huaisang stirred, confused about his whereabouts. Meanwhile, shouts of terror erupted from the pit where Jin Guangyao's men were digging. Su She rushed out, supporting a stumbling Jin Guangyao, whose hand was marked with a livid, poisonous injury that he tried to conceal.

Everyone looked on in horror as a black coffin was revealed in the pit. It did not contain the treasure Jin Guangyao sought, but instead the crudely reassembled body of Nie Mingjue, his severed head visibly stitched back onto his neck with coarse black thread. Recognizing the corpse, Lan Xichen uttered "Big Brother" in disbelief. Wei Wuxian quickly deduced that this was not what Jin Guangyao intended to find and that the contents had been deliberately swapped.

When Su She accused Wei Wuxian of foul play, Wei Wuxian scoffed, claiming that if he were truly behind it, Jin Guangyao's injuries would be far worse than just a poisoned arm. Wei Wuxian then meticulously laid out the real mastermind's scheme: bribing Qin Su's former maid, Bicao, to reveal Jin Guangyao's secrets, rescuing Sisi from imprisonment, and then replacing the intended treasure with Nie Mingjue's corpse as a gruesome "gift."

He chillingly suggested that the true culprit, who had been meticulously tracking Jin Guangyao, might even be hiding nearby, observing their every move. Jin Guangyao, visibly unsettled by Wei Wuxian's accurate deductions, quickly regained his composure. He furiously ordered his remaining disciples to prepare for departure after his wound was treated and had Wei Wuxian and the others bound.

As Su She treated Jin Guangyao's wound, he inadvertently exposed his arm, revealing the distinctive marks of the Hundred Holes curse's backlash. Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen immediately recognized the tell-tale signs. Lan Xichen then confronted Jin Guangyao, connecting the curse to the ambush at Qiongqi Road.

He accused Jin Guangyao of deliberately orchestrating Jin Zixun's affliction to draw Wei Wuxian into a conflict that ultimately eliminated both Jin Zixuan and Jin Zixun, clearing Jin Guangyao's path to inherit the Jin clan and become the Chief Cultivator. Wei Wuxian demanded to know why Jin Guangyao, who was practically a stranger to him, would frame him for Jin Zixuan's death.

Jin Guangyao calmly stated that in this world, there is no inherent animosity; someone must always strike the first blow for a feud to begin. Su She interjected, angrily defending Jin Guangyao and expressing his deep-seated resentment towards the arrogant noble clans who looked down upon peripheral disciples like himself. Lan Wangji sternly condemned Su She as a betrayer, declaring that such individuals would never be tolerated by the Lan clan.

Su She, in turn, contemptuously dismissed Lan Wangji’s condescending attitude, claiming that only Jin Guangyao ever showed him respect, and vowing to kill every arrogant noble he encountered, like Jin Zixun. Jin Guangyao then turned to Wei Wuxian, mocking his perceived misfortune. He argued that even without his interference, Wei Wuxian's untamed and outspoken nature would inevitably lead to his downfall, making enemies everywhere and dooming him to a short life.

Enraged by Jin Guangyao's audacity, Jiang Cheng cursed him as a "son of a whore," sparking Jin Guangyao's fury. Jin Guangyao retaliated by dissecting Jiang Cheng's own role in Wei Wuxian's tragic fate, stating that Jiang Cheng's current aggression stemmed from guilt after learning the truth. He pointed out that Jiang Cheng was heavily responsible for the Yiling Patriarch's widespread condemnation, having rebuilt Lotus Pier with the formidable Wei Wuxian by his side, which threatened other clans.

He asserted that if Jiang Cheng had been kinder to Wei Wuxian or more lenient after the incidents, others would not have been able to sow discord, and the siege of the Burial Mounds, in which Jiang Cheng was a main force, might have been avoided. Seeing Jin Guangyao's unrepentant nature, Wei Wuxian deliberately provoked him by mentioning Nie Mingjue. Just then, thunder boomed outside, casting eerie shadows that made Nie Mingjue's face in the coffin appear even more ghastly.

Although Wei Wuxian lacked Chenqing, he used a whistle to manipulate the half of the Stygian Tiger Amulet hidden by Jin Guangyao. Dark energy surged, overwhelming Jin Guangyao, who cried out, tormented by what seemed to be the vengeful spirit of Nie Mingjue. To break free from the powerful spiritual attack, Jin Guangyao bit his tongue and spat out a mouthful of blood, momentarily regaining his senses.

Stumbling, Jin Guangyao acknowledged the Yiling Patriarch’s formidable power to manipulate the Stygian Tiger Amulet with a mere whistle. At this moment, Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji both felt their spiritual powers return. Lan Xichen demanded that Jin Guangyao surrender the Stygian Tiger Amulet, which he reluctantly did. Wei Wuxian then pressed Jin Guangyao about the amulet's creation. After some initial evasiveness, Jin Guangyao admitted that he had collaborated with Xue Yang at the Unclean Realm.

He revealed that Xue Yang, in a bid to save Xiao Xingchen, had sought his help to forge the amulet. Despite their combined efforts, they had only managed to create a fragment with half of its full power. Jin Guangyao also expressed curiosity about the source of Wei Wuxian's Yin Iron.

He was stunned to learn from Wei Wuxian that it had been discovered inside the Tortoise of Slaughter, which made him realize there were more fragments of Yin Iron in the world than commonly believed. Lan Xichen held his sword to Jin Guangyao's throat, expressing his profound disappointment and inner turmoil. He stated that he no longer knew if he could believe Jin Guangyao’s claims of hidden intentions, given how excessively cruel his actions had become.

Jin Guangyao, kneeling desperately, pleaded for his life. He reminded Lan Xichen of their long acquaintance, promising to renounce his position as Chief Cultivator and depart for Dongying that very night, never to return, if only he were spared.
