Ye Jiahui arrived at Professor Ji's home with a bottle of wine and two books. Professor Ji complimented Ye Jiahui on his clever, indirect approach regarding He Dun, as he'd once said He Dun would eventually borrow all his books. Ye Jiahui subtly inquired about He Dun's whereabouts, mentioning she wasn't at home or the radio station today.

Professor Ji replied that she was dealing with a "domestic problem" and he didn't want to trouble her further, adding it was a pity she would miss out on his special hairy crabs and chives. Ye Jiahui jested that he would then come for free dinner every day. Meanwhile, He Dun confronted her mother, Zhao Xiping, after finding a large quantity of medicine that had been purchased just the day before, enough for six months.

He Dun's mother initially claimed the medicine was for minor ailments, but He Dun pressed her, heartbroken that her mother had been suffering from headaches and dizziness for six months without telling her. He Dun tearfully asked if her mother was depriving her of her daughter's right to care for her because He Dun was "mentally ill," and if Junjun were still alive, her mother would surely confide in him.

Zhao Xiping hugged He Dun, denying such thoughts, explaining that she felt He Dun already carried too many burdens from her job as a counselor. He Dun insisted her work wasn't a burden and tried to take her mother to the hospital, but Zhao Xiping refused, saying she was afraid of the hospital's "verdict."

Seeing her mother's distress, He Dun apologized for losing her temper and agreed not to go to the hospital, admitting she was just terrified of losing her. He Dun and her mother eventually went to the hospital with Qian Kaiyi. While waiting for results, He Dun's mother expressed her dislike for the hospital. He Dun left to collect the scans, asking Qian Kaiyi to stay with her mother.

After He Dun left, Zhao Xiping attempted to leave, claiming she wanted to be alone, but then "fainted" after bumping into a nurse. She was rushed to the emergency room. He Dun, feeling immense self-reproach, was comforted by Qian Kaiyi, who told her not to crumble and to stay strong for her mother.

The doctor soon arrived, announcing that Zhao Xiping's brain scans showed no tumors or injuries; her fainting was likely due to stress and tension, and she could be discharged. Immediately upon hearing this, Zhao Xiping "woke up" and happily embraced He Dun, relieved. While He Dun was at the hospital, Lili continued to struggle with her feelings for Mr. Fang.

Although she recalled He Dun's guidance and Qian Kaiyi's help in releasing stress, she still refused to answer Mr. Fang's calls. Later, while in Professor Ji's study, Ye Jiahui observed a jade bracelet and other items as he helped put away books. During dinner, Ye Jiahui mentioned his previous psychiatry studies abroad and how different disciplines like psychology and neuroscience could view the same problem differently.

He asked if Professor Ji’s interest in cognitive dysfunction rehabilitation books was due to someone close having symptoms. Professor Ji denied it, saying he just casually read them in his old age, and that when he was young, he constantly sought answers, but now he wonders if he lost something precious. Ye Jiahui asked what he lost, and Professor Ji jokingly replied it was the opportunity to enjoy more delicacies in his youth.

Professor Ji acknowledged Ye Jiahui's feelings for He Dun, calling her a good student and a good girl, and wished him good luck. After Ye Jiahui left Professor Ji's house, Professor Ji noticed the jade bracelet box had been shifted. He then sat at his computer, closing his eyes, seemingly imagining the woman in red who used to massage his shoulders.

Later, Professor Ji visited the hospital, looking for the woman in red, only to find she wasn't in her room. He eventually spotted her from behind, playing the violin at a street corner. That night, as He Dun washed her mother's feet, they reminisced about He Dun's high school days, particularly her dislike for Chinese class because her mother was the teacher.

Zhao Xiping then recalled a particularly eloquent and mischievous boy from another class who pestered her to reduce their homework. He Dun realized her mother was describing Qian Kaiyi. Zhao Xiping then tearfully confessed that she had intentionally called He Dun "Junjun" all these years because she believed she was dying and wanted He Dun to hate her.

She hoped that if He Dun thought she was an incompetent mother, she wouldn't miss her or feel lonely after she was gone. He Dun lovingly embraced her mother, telling her she was silly and that her love for her was double. Zhao Xiping suddenly remembered Qian Kaiyi was waiting downstairs and urged He Dun to go meet him. Downstairs, Qian Kaiyi had just declined his friends' dinner invitations when He Dun approached.

He excitedly shared the news that their "Heartfelt Night Talk" program's "Say No" segment had achieved the number one listening rate across the entire station. He opened his arms as if to hug her but then turned it into a stretch, and He Dun smiled. He expressed his happiness working with her, and she reciprocated the sentiment. As Qian Kaiyi walked He Dun home, they saw Ye Jiahui waiting by her door.

Qian Kaiyi, feeling a pang of discomfort, quickly left after dropping He Dun off, suggesting they talk more tomorrow. Ye Jiahui presented He Dun with a music box he had handmade for her, explaining how much thought he put into it. He confessed that living with her and the others had made him very happy, and he wanted to be more than just friends.

Fearing a full confession, He Dun quickly cut him off, stating they were all good friends and she appreciated his gift but it was too late to discuss things further, wishing him goodnight before retreating inside without accepting the music box. Back in her room, He Dun looked at a high school graduation photo, realizing her true feelings. She then returned outside to speak with Ye Jiahui.

She apologized and candidly told him she had fallen in love with someone else, adding that she and Lili cherished their friendship with him, appreciating how well he had cared for them and how much they relied on him. She hoped they could remain lifelong friends. Ye Jiahui, with a slight look of disappointment, conceded that Qian Kaiyi was a "lucky bastard."

He then admitted he liked Qian Kaiyi too, in a platonic sense, as living with them had brought him warmth, and he wished he could continue living there. He asked her to accept the music box as a gift from a friend. They shared a hug, reaffirming their friendship. Unbeknownst to them, Qian Kaiyi was hiding nearby, secretly overjoyed after overhearing their conversation. The next day, Ye Jiahui applied medicine to Lili's wound.

Lili explained her dizziness, exhaustion, and loss of appetite, attributing her physical and emotional pain to her affair with Mr. Fang. She regretted not noticing the numerous "red flags"—Mr. Fang being unreachable on weekends, always placing his phone face down, and avoiding discussions about their future. She confessed to fighting with his wife, Tong Yao.

Ye Jiahui told her she was a good girl who deserved to be loved and advised her to use the same investigative skills she applied to him to vet future partners. Soon after, a beautiful young woman named Xiaowei arrived at the Studio of Happy Talk for an appointment with He Dun. She entered the studio, telling Lili, "I think my body is dirty."
