Swords of Legends Episode 43 Recap
> Swords of Legends Recap
Shaogong informs Tusu and Qingxue that Yin Qianchang has gone to Jiangdu to investigate Jinniang's matter, which Tusu and Qingxue accept without further questions. Tusu later converses privately with Shaogong, complementing Shaogong's zither music with leaves, their cooperation proving excellent. Tusu appears preoccupied and shares his thoughts following his journey to Yaoshan, contemplating whether a person whose past and soul are split in two can still be considered themselves. Shaogong states he does not mind such "incomplete" people.
Tusu reflects that demonic energy has accompanied him since childhood, making it unsurprising to be treated as a monster in Tianyong City, but he adheres to his master's teachings to avoid falling into resentment. Tusu tells Shaogong that on his way to Yaoshan, he saw Penglai Island and witnessed Xun Fang resist a natural disaster until the very end, waiting for Shaogong to return. Shaogong becomes troubled and asks Tusu to leave.
Once Tusu departs, Shaogong displays a dark expression, having realized that Penglai is located within the Sea of Thunderclouds. Separately, Qingxue speaks with "fake" Xun Fang, expressing great admiration for Xun Fang's resistance to the natural disaster in Penglai. Recalling Xun Fang and Shaogong's past in Penglai, Qingxue is filled with emotion and exchanges blessings with Xun Fang. Later, Xun Fang rushes to ask Shaogong about Yuanwu's disappearance.
Shaogong tells her Yuanwu committed many bad deeds and likely fled to avoid punishment. Xun Fang feigns generosity and forgives Yuanwu. Shaogong then leads her to an alchemic furnace, stating that the Shuming Pills being refined inside can grant immortality, allowing them to be together forever once ready. Tusu is plagued by dreams of his unresolved connection with Taizi Changqin, waking up in a cold sweat. Qingxue, through Ah Xiang, finds a drunk Yin Qianchang.
After sobering, Yin Qianchang recognizes Qingxue, and they sit to chat. Yin Qianchang recounts how Shaogong took him in when he was severely injured and cared for him deeply, fostering a strong bond. However, he finds Shaogong's kindness unsettling and is unsure whether to approve or oppose Shaogong's actions, suspecting Shaogong intends to use him for something. Qingxue mistakenly believes Yin Qianchang merely had an argument with Shaogong, advising that men often only argue with words.
Yin Qianchang denies this, firmly believing something is amiss and linking it to his lost memory. Qingxue playfully messes with Yin Qianchang's hair, to which he can do nothing. Yin Qianchang mentions Qingxue's past insistence on recognizing him as her elder brother. Qingxue says she won't bring it up now, as Yin Qianchang already treats her as a sister. Yin Qianchang cannot recall his relationship with Qingxue and eventually falls asleep.
Qingxue later approaches Shaogong, asking about his decision to take in Yin Qianchang. Shaogong inquires where she encountered Yin Qianchang. As Qingxue is about to answer, Tusu enters to ask about the alchemy. Shaogong gives Tusu the refined Shuming Pills, warning that the medicine must not be exposed to sunlight. Tusu hesitates with the pills. Shaogong states it is his first time refining such medicine and offers to accompany Tusu back to Wu Meng Valley.
Tusu asks him to stay and await good news. Qingxue is troubled by Yin Qianchang's situation, certain he is her elder brother but unaware of the cause of his memory loss. Tusu comforts her, assuring her they will find the answer once they return to Wu Meng Valley to save her mother. In Tianyong City, Fu Qu yearns for Lingyue in the back mountain. Ling Duan approaches, mistakenly believing Fu Qu is yearning for Tusu.
Fu Qu clarifies that she only considers Tusu a brother. Ling Duan is delighted and promptly confesses his feelings to Fu Qu. Fu Qu, aware of Ling Duan's poor character, directly rejects him. Ling Duan deduces that Fu Qu is fond of Lingyue, curses her for being foolish, and asserts that Lingyue, upon becoming the sect leader, must sever all worldly affections, making her love for him fruitless. Fu Qu remains unwavering and walks away.
Meanwhile, Tianyong City disciples, including Ling Duan's followers, discuss Lingyue's impending ascent to sect leader and Tusu's succession to the Reverend Zi Yin position, praising Tusu's heroic performance against the wolf demon at Tiezhu Temple. Enraged by this, Ling Duan continues to slander Tusu. However, his followers, being reasonable, advise Ling Duan against antagonizing Lingyue and Tusu. Ling Duan dismisses them, muttering to himself that Tusu is a monster possessed by demonic energy.
A thought then strikes him, and he proceeds to the confinement area for demons to absorb demonic energy. Ling Duan returns to the communal dormitory, uses demonic arts to control the other disciples, compelling them to follow him down the mountain to capture Tusu. Fu Qu discovers the anomaly, noticing the heavy demonic energy on the disciples, and attempts to prevent them from descending the mountain, but she is knocked unconscious by the crazed Ling Duan.
Lansheng and Xiangling finally arrive at Hongye Lake. Lingyue pursues them there. Lansheng remains resentful of Lingyue for not recognizing him, displaying a hostile attitude. Lingyue expresses his feelings, stating he will do anything Lansheng asks, as long as it is reasonable, to compensate him during their reunion before he must return to Tianyong City. Hearing the word "reasonable," Lansheng becomes furious. Lingyue rephrases, and Lansheng then demands to be carried back, which Lingyue does without a word.
Xiangling is about to take Lansheng to see Tree Grandfather. Tusu and Qingxue return to the outskirts of Wu Meng Valley. Tusu discovers a secret passage he used to sneak out as a child, triggering a flood of memory fragments, including the recollection of Feng Guangmo. Qingxue confirms that Yin Qianchang is her elder brother but wonders who rescued the severely injured Yin Qianchang, subsequently suspecting Shaogong. Tusu and Qingxue enter the ice-sealed Wu Meng Valley.
Xiangling also arrives, bringing news that Lansheng and Lingyue have joined them. Tusu arranges for Lingyue and Lansheng to stay within the valley. In his own territory, Tusu finally feels like the host. Lansheng finds their room messy and asks Lingyue to tidy it with magic. Tusu immediately becomes displeased, telling Lansheng not to boss around his favorite senior brother. Lansheng, now reunited with his brother, acts arrogantly and argues with Tusu.
Lingyue, helpless, sends Lansheng to find Xiangling, then speaks with Tusu. Lingyue informs Tusu about reuniting with Lansheng and his intention to fulfill his duties as an elder brother. Tusu is happy that Lingyue's long-held wish has come true. As Tusu wanders, Xiangling brings him wild fruits and asks if he remembers the "elder brother" who saved them both years ago. Tusu seems to recall something.
Lingyue and the others also hear about this, but Xiangling cannot recall the elder brother's appearance. The group discusses whether the incident in Wu Meng Valley was connected to that elder brother. Tusu speculates that his unauthorized outing attracted the masked man. Qingxue advises him not to overthink. The group arrives at the place where the Sword of Burning Solitude was sealed. Noticing Tusu's troubled expression, everyone advises him not to dwell on past events.
Tusu calms himself and enters the ice cave. Inside, he recalls the masked man attempting to seize the Sword of Burning Solitude during his childhood, and vividly remembers his mother injecting the Sword of Burning Solitude's demonic energy into his body to save his life. Tusu kneels before his mother and uses magic to unfreeze her.
