Swords of Legends Episode 42 Recap
> Swords of Legends Recap
Tu Su, having learned from Qian Yu (the "big water monster") on Yaoshan and received a dragon scale, gained a deeper understanding of his destiny, which he realized could not be changed. This also intensified his fear that Qing Xue might be harmed because of him.
He told Qing Xue he would give his life to protect her if she were to die for the Moon Spirit Flower, and later, that he would rather abandon his quest to resurrect his mother and clan if it meant harming his friends. After obtaining the Moon Spirit Flower, Tu Su was visibly troubled during their return journey, cautioning Qing Xue against such future risks due to his worry.
Qing Xue, happy to realize her importance to him, shared a knowing smile with Tu Su. Yan Mei and Xiang Tianxiao spotted Tu Su and Qing Xue from a flying ship. The four talked, laughed, and decided to return to Tongcheng. Upon arriving in Tongcheng, Yan Mei and Xiang Tianxiao sent Tu Su and Qing Xue off.
Soon after, Huan Huan found Tu Su and Qing Xue, warning them that the Elder was looking for them and advising them to hide. They sought refuge at Master Yao's shop, where Master Yao instructed them to escape through the back door. Meanwhile, Yin Qianshang confronted Yuan Wu, learning that Jin Niang was, in fact, Xun Fang. He immediately informed Shao Gong, who initially dismissed it as Yuan Wu's provocation.
Yin Qianshang proposed a direct confrontation with Yuan Wu and Jin Niang, but upon arriving at Yuan Wu's room, they discovered him dead, having been silenced. Yin Qianshang then realized Shao Gong had long known Jin Niang's true identity and was exploiting her to transmit messages to Lei Yan. When Yin Qianshang demanded Shao Gong hand over Xun Fang, he became aware of Shao Gong's vastly superior martial arts and unfathomable plans.
The two then engaged in a fierce fight, with Shao Gong easily overpowering Yin Qianshang. Shao Gong admitted to using Xun Fang but refused to disclose his complete plans, subsequently banishing Yin Qianshang from the mountain, telling him they should never meet again. Separately, Lan Sheng and Xiang Ling embarked on a journey towards Red Leaf Lake, finding themselves without money or food.
They encountered Jiang Li, a kind farmhouse hostess, who warmly invited them for a meal and even offered snacks when Lan Sheng claimed he was still hungry. Lan Sheng tried to offer payment but discovered his money pouch was missing, though Jiang Li assured him it was fine. As they continued their walk, Xiang Ling's attempt to use magic to create money was stopped by Lan Sheng, who warned her of retribution.
Seeing their predicament, Jiang Li suggested they could exchange valuables at a nearby demon market for money. However, Lan Sheng was too afraid to enter the market, so Xiang Ling went in alone, only to discover that the market exclusively accepted demon-related items, and they had nothing valuable suitable for trade. Lan Sheng was also startled when an old man at the market entrance, whom he initially assumed was also afraid to enter, revealed himself to be a demon.
Later, Lan Sheng and Xiang Ling attempted to catch fish by the river, with Lan Sheng's magical efforts culminating in a large explosion that yielded many fish. They then returned to Jiang Li's, who generously offered them lodging. While discussing Jiang Li, Xiang Ling mused that her own mother might have been similar, but her "Tree Grandpa's" poor memory and penchant for sleep meant she knew little about her parents.
That night, Lan Sheng had another vivid dream, reliving the past lives of Jin Lei and He Wenjun, as well as his present life with Yue Yan, which woke him with a start. Meanwhile, an argument unfolded outside Jiang Li's house between Jiang Li and the old man from the demon market, who was revealed to be Mo Yang, Jiang Li's husband.
Mo Yang urged Jiang Li to leave with him, fearing his enemies would trouble her, but Jiang Li, believing humans and demons should not be together, insisted he leave alone. Jiang Li later confided in Lan Sheng and Xiang Ling about her human-demon love with Mo Yang, which had brought heavenly retribution, caused a family riot, and tragically resulted in the loss of their child, leading to their separation.
Xiang Ling, upon first seeing Mo Yang, felt a strange familiarity and her heart raced. Lan Sheng confessed his feelings for Xiang Ling, declaring he would stay with her even if it meant facing heavenly retribution, but Xiang Ling felt they were destined to eventually go their separate ways. Later that night, Xiang Ling heard Mo Yang's signal and met him, recognizing him as a fellow fox demon.
She honestly told him about her search for her parents, and Mo Yang, pleased she didn't blame them for leaving her, praised her filial piety. As Mo Yang and Xiang Ling returned at dawn, they found Lan Sheng flung out of Jiang Li's house.
A male fox demon named Yun Ge, who harbored resentment against Mo Yang for bringing heavenly punishment to the fox clan due to his love for Jiang Li, had taken Jiang Li hostage, demanding Mo Yang destroy his inner core. Mo Yang forced out his inner core to save Jiang Li. Lan Sheng and Xiang Ling intervened, with Xiang Ling using her Five Fires Seven Feather Fan.
Jiang Li, seeing the fan, instantly recognized it and realized Xiang Ling was her daughter. Yun Ge then attacked them, but Mo Yang bravely rushed forward to block the assault, ultimately defeating Yun Ge, though sustaining severe injuries himself. Jiang Li, her long-held emotional burdens finally lifted, embraced the bleeding Mo Yang, expressing her unwavering commitment to him.
Jiang Li then arranged for Mo Yang to sit on a handcart so she could accompany him back to the fox clan for treatment. Mo Yang gave Xiang Ling a fox fang, instructing her to use it to summon him if she ever faced danger. Jiang Li cautioned Lan Sheng and Xiang Ling to be careful on their journey, watching them depart. After they left, Jiang Li and Mo Yang confirmed that Xiang Ling was indeed their daughter.
Mo Yang expressed regret that they could not yet acknowledge Xiang Ling, fearing that the heavenly retribution he had endured might implicate her. He vowed to seek atonement once they returned to the fox clan, praying that heaven would spare their daughter. As Lan Sheng and Xiang Ling continued their journey, discussing Mo Yang and Jiang Li, Xiang Ling expressed her eagerness to return to Red Leaf Lake to question her "Tree Grandpa" about her parents.
Lan Sheng, realizing he was out of money, surprisingly found a money pouch on his back, and both surmised it was a gift from Jiang Li. Eventually, Tu Su and Qing Xue returned to Qingyutan with the Moon Spirit Flower. Shao Gong observed that the flower was broken into petals but dismissed it as inconsequential, stating it would still take some time to refine into a pill, and instructed them to rest.
Both Tu Su and Qing Xue inquired about Yin Qianshang's whereabouts, to which Shao Gong simply responded with a smile. It was noted that Yin Qianshang and Ling Yue were not present at Qingyutan at that time.
