Tu Su and Yin Qianshang are drinking and chatting, discussing feelings and life. Yin Qianshang complains that Xiang Ling and Lansheng don't understand love and are just fooling around. Xiang Ling, wearing a headscarf, goes shopping with Lansheng. Xiang Ling is playful and doesn't care when people point and stare at her.
Lansheng is worried that Xiang Ling's fox ears will be discovered, and advises her to wait until her body has fully recovered before going out, but Xiang Ling ignores him and runs off. Yueyan and Ruqin find Lansheng on the street. Ruqin grabs Lansheng's ear and takes him back to Tu Su, where she and Qinxue thank them. Ruqin wants to take Lansheng back to Qinchuan, but Lansheng refuses in every possible way.
Ruqin learns that Ji Tong is seriously ill and rushes to see her. Hong Yu is taking care of Ji Tong. Ruqin comes to inquire about the situation and mentions Shaogong's name. The unconscious Ji Tong finally has a reaction, but remains unconscious. Ji Tong hears Ruqin's voice and wants to tell her about Xunfang, but she is too ill to speak. Yueyan chats with Lansheng, and Lansheng states directly that there is no possibility between them.
Yueyan, remembering Qinxue's previous advice, expresses her intention to pursue Lansheng relentlessly. Lansheng runs away. Qinxue overhears their conversation and tries to persuade Yueyan to give up, but Yueyan is determined and intends to marry Lansheng no matter what. Lansheng pulls Xiang Ling into Tu Su's room and persuades her to hide there for the time being to avoid being seen by Ruqin.
Heiyao comes to find Qinxue and tells her about Yin Qianshang, revealing that Yin Qianshang was injured eleven years ago and was saved by Shaogong. Qinxue immediately runs to Yin Qianshang to ask about this, pestering him to acknowledge her as his younger sister. Yin Qianshang runs away to brew medicine for Ji Tong.
Looking at the unconscious Ji Tong, Yin Qianshang recalls the moments when he met her and Shaogong, and feels that he is not Qinxue's older brother, deciding to advise her properly tomorrow. Xiang Ling sits between Tu Su and Qinxue, and the three stare blankly at each other. Xiang Ling says she is just hiding from Ruqin and the others, and will not disturb Qinxue and Tu Su's romance. Lansheng brings snacks for Xiang Ling.
Qinxue, seeing that there are none for her and Tu Su, pulls Tu Su away. Xiang Ling still wants to go out shopping, and Lansheng cannot dissuade her, so he has to accompany her. Ruqin and Yueyan are buying cloth in a fabric shop when they see Xiang Ling and Lansheng playing together outside. Ruqin's face immediately darkens, and she promises Yueyan that she will definitely help her win Lansheng over. Tu Su puts Ah Xiang on a diet.
Ruqin comes to ask him to send a letter to Lingyue, saying she needs his help. Lingyue in Tianyong City receives the letter brought by Ah Xiang, learning that Ruqin is asking him to go down the mountain to deal with Xiang Ling. Fu Qu sees that it is a letter from a woman and pesters Lingyue to go down the mountain together, using all sorts of coaxing methods. Lingyue finally cannot bear to refuse and takes her with him.
Lingyue and Fu Qu are resting by the river. Lingyue is telling her about his heroic deeds in battling the wolf demon when a secret letter arrives from the Tie Zhu Temple, saying that the wolf demon's disaster has not been resolved. The two arrive at the Tie Zhu Temple. The abbot tells them that the remaining consciousness of the wolf demon has escaped and its whereabouts are unknown, fearing that it will bring disaster to the world.
Lingyue's sense of justice erupts, and he agrees to help find the wolf demon's consciousness. On the way, Fu Qu is worried that Lingyue's body has not recovered, complaining that the people at the Tie Zhu Temple are always bothering her senior brother. Lingyue says that he has an inescapable duty to exorcise demons. Lingyue, after analyzing, guesses that the wolf demon will cultivate by a water source with spiritual energy.
The two encounter fleeing villagers by the river, learning that there are people in the village who have been revived as corpses, causing unrest in the village. The two enter the village and find a sweet potato-roasting teenager in a dilapidated house. Lingyue strikes up a conversation with the teenager and learns about his tragic life.
The teenager, seeing that someone understands him, invites Lingyue and Fu Qu to eat sweet potatoes, suddenly recalling the past, and stares blankly at them. Lingyue receives a message from the abbot of Tie Zhu Temple, who says that the wolf demon's remaining consciousness has killed the disciples in the temple and escaped.
Lingyue realizes that the wolf demon deliberately merged its inner core into Tu Su's body that day with ulterior motives, so he decides to eliminate the remaining consciousness of the wolf demon first. Lingyue, carrying iron chains to lock the wolf demon, finds a place where the wolf demon's remaining consciousness might choose to re-cultivate, and finds a young man who is considered a zombie by the villagers.
