Tusu gave Shao Gong a mysterious medicine, which Shao Gong deemed extraordinary and wished to study further for an antidote. Tusu mentioned that Lan Sheng was currently watching the "little fox" (Xiang Ling) who had provided the medicine. Lan Sheng, still grappling with Xiang Ling being a fox demon, was caught off guard when Ru Qin entered; Xiang Ling quickly hid in the rafters.

Lan Sheng managed to deflect Ru Qin's suspicions, and after she left, he called for Xiang Ling, but she had disappeared. Meanwhile, Tusu and Qing Xue investigated the homes of the ailing villagers. Finding little, they consulted Tea Xiao Guai, who surmised that a masked individual was likely testing medicine and remained in town to observe the effects.

Tea Xiao Guai explained that while Qing Yun Tan had historically tested medicine, it was usually on willing patients for difficult diseases, not healthy individuals for malevolent purposes. Shao Gong, examining the mysterious medicine, noted its strong evil influence and decided to use his own antidote to treat the afflicted. The group then strategized how to respond when the test subjects reappeared, with Shao Gong cautioning them to be careful.

Lan Sheng attempted to join Tusu and Qing Xue in their investigation but was firmly rejected. Determined to prove his worth, he decided to act alone. Separately, Qing Xue and Tusu divided their efforts, agreeing to communicate via spirit butterflies. Tusu, speaking his thoughts to his spirit butterfly, was unaware that Qing Xue could hear him on the other end. They agreed to attempt Youdu magic during the next full moon.

Tusu then followed his companion bird, Ah Xiang, and encountered a mysterious martial artist. After a brief exchange of blows, Tusu was overjoyed to discover the stranger was his Senior Brother, Lingyue. Lingyue and Tusu returned to the Fang family residence, where they met Qing Xue and Shao Gong. Lingyue learned about the masked individual's medicine testing and expressed pride in Tusu's commitment to helping others.

However, Lingyue also made it clear that he intended for Tusu to return to Tianyong City once the situation was resolved. Tusu remained silent, and Shao Gong intervened, suggesting that Lingyue stay in Qin Chuan for the time being. Tusu and Lingyue shared a room, reminiscing about their training days in Tianyong City. Lingyue observed Tusu's newfound openness and cheerfulness, which Tusu attributed to the kindness of the Qin Chuan residents, particularly mentioning the persistent and somewhat troublesome Lan Sheng.

Lingyue, amused, expressed a desire to meet Lan Sheng. Lan Sheng, having gone off on his own, discovered an anomaly but was captured and woke up in a jail cell. He found Da Niu in an adjacent cell, who recounted being abducted in his sleep and mentioned Fanyun Stronghold. Lan Sheng instantly realized Li Pan An was behind it and began loudly insulting him.

Li Pan An soon appeared, claiming he had captured them to "treat" them with his experimental medicine. Lan Sheng continued to mock Li Pan An's appearance and morality, declaring that Shao Gong and his allies would surely come to rescue everyone. Enraged, Li Pan An vowed to make Shao Gong pay if he dared to interfere. Li Pan An, consulting a manual while holding a pill refined with Jade Heng, contemplated its potency.

His subordinates, irritated by Lan Sheng's incessant shouting, suggested killing him, but Li Pan An forbade it, acknowledging Lan Sheng's connection to Ru Qin. The subordinates, worried about Tusu and Shao Gong's potential retaliation, were then given "Tse Shui Pills" (Jade Heng-refined pills) by Li Pan An, who promised them increased martial power to face any challenge. Meanwhile, Ru Qin anxiously inquired with Tusu about Lan Sheng's whereabouts. Tusu introduced her to Lingyue.

Recalling Lan Sheng's earlier announcement about catching culprits, Ru Qin grew alarmed, especially upon hearing that the twelve patients Shao Gong had recently treated were also missing. The group deduced that Lan Sheng had likely stumbled upon the kidnappers. Lingyue assured them that Lan Sheng was protected by his Green Jade of the South and stated that he could use Tianyong City magic to pinpoint his location.

Confined in a jail cell, Lan Sheng attempted to persuade a guard by promising to find him a wife if he would deliver a message to Ru Qin. The guard agreed, hoping Lan Sheng would fulfill his promise. Suddenly, the people in an adjacent cell began to mutate and burst out of their confines. The guard quickly released Lan Sheng, who, protected by his Green Jade of the South, was immune to the mutated individuals' attacks.

Lan Sheng seized the opportunity to escape, and the mutated people also fled the jail. Lingyue led Tusu, Qing Xue, and Shao Gong to Fanyun Stronghold. As they arrived, a mutated individual appeared, which Lingyue swiftly subdued. Shao Gong proposed they split into three teams: Qing Xue and Tusu would search for Li Pan An, Lingyue would focus on rescuing the captured villagers, and Shao Gong would locate the site where the mysterious medicine was being brewed.

Lan Sheng found himself pursued by a group of mutated individuals, but fortunately, Lingyue arrived just in time to rescue him. Lingyue, with Lan Sheng trailing him, continued to fight a large number of mutated people. Lan Sheng pleaded with Lingyue not to kill them, identifying them as Qin Chuan villagers, but Lingyue countered that their humanity was no longer discernible. Lingyue then used a powerful sword technique to neutralize the threat, leaving him breathing heavily.

Once the area was cleared, Lingyue led the verbose Lan Sheng away from the dangerous stronghold. Elsewhere, Tusu and Qing Xue confronted Li Pan An, who had also undergone a grotesque transformation, appearing significantly more powerful and distorted. Their battle against him proved challenging. The battle for Tusu and Qing Xue intensified as Li Pan An, growing larger, seized Qing Xue as a hostage. Witnessing Qing Xue's peril, Tusu was engulfed by rage, activating his latent dark power.

His eyes glowed crimson as he swiftly defeated Li Pan An, who collapsed. However, Tusu himself succumbed to the immense power and fell unconscious. Shao Gong, following his own objective, found the hidden place where the potent medicine was being made. He used a Jade Heng fragment to deal with the remaining mutated test subjects there before leaving. Shao Gong tended to Tusu, reassuring Qing Xue that he was out of danger. Lingyue ensured all mutated individuals were neutralized.

Shao Gong expressed self-reproach for his antidote's failure to save them. Lan Sheng then produced Li Pan An's manual, which Shao Gong examined. Upon reviewing it, Shao Gong explained the nature of the Jade Heng, describing its ability to absorb spiritual energy, though noting that the piece they possessed was merely a fragment. The group later returned to the Fang family residence. Ru Qin thanked Lingyue for his help.

Lingyue then stated his intention to take Tusu back to Tianyong City once he had recovered. Lan Sheng, eager to learn immortality, insisted on accompanying them. Lingyue found Lan Sheng's enthusiasm amusing, remarking on his cuteness, which sparked a playful argument between Lan Sheng and Ru Qin. As a result, Ru Qin confined Lan Sheng to his room for a month, much to Lingyue's hidden amusement.

Lan Sheng continued to pester Lingyue about going to Tianyong City, but Lingyue politely refused, citing Ru Qin's disapproval. Meanwhile, at Tianyong City, Fu Qu longed for Lingyue. Ling Duan tried to cheer her up with hawthorns, but she rebuffed his efforts. He tried to glean information about Lingyue's whereabouts, but when he spoke ill of both Lingyue and Tusu, Fu Qu angrily dismissed him.

Back in Qin Chuan, Shao Gong brought Tusu the medicinal concoction prepared by Qing Xue, urging him to drink it. Tusu complied, and Shao Gong playfully teased him about his budding romance with Qing Xue. Tusu, however, quickly clarified that their relationship was purely platonic and reiterated his plan to return to Tianyong City with Lingyue in a few days.

Shao Gong, discerning Tusu's underlying reluctance to part with Qing Xue and himself, subtly encouraged Tusu to voice his true feelings to Lingyue. Swayed by Shao Gong's words, Tusu sought out Lingyue. Lingyue brought up their impending departure the following day, prompting Tusu, emboldened, to express his desire to remain in Qin Chuan. However, Lingyue was initially firm in his stance, invoking Master Ziyin's authority to counter Tusu's plea. Tusu's strong attachment to the people and life in Qin Chuan, and his unwillingness to confront the past issues at Tianyong City, made him resolute in wanting to stay.
