Li Yanran ran over and called out to Fu Xiaosi, inviting him to go home with her. Her eyes were full of tenderness for Fu Xiaosi. Fu Xiaosi was thinking of Li Xia in his heart and didn't pay attention to Li Yanran's words. He only agreed to go home with her.

At Fu Xiaosi's home, Li Yanran went out of her way to please Fu Xiaosi's mother, trying hard to gain approval, hoping to close the distance between herself and Fu Xiaosi, so that their becoming a couple would be natural. Fu Xiaosi felt awkward listening to his mother and Li Yanran's conversation. He didn't like Li Yanran, but he ultimately couldn't escape this complicated relationship.

Thinking of Li Xia and Lu Zhiang getting closer, a sense of inexplicable disappointment arose in his heart. The roommates saw Lu Zhiang giving Li Xia a ride back to school outside, unable to suppress their curiosity. When Li Xia returned to the dormitory, his roommates cast gossipy glances at him. Li Xia didn't explain anything, sitting alone in a chair, casually reading a book. Late at night, the roommates were all asleep.

Li Xia, using a faint light, secretly hid in his quilt, writing notes to the priest. The lines were full of doubts. He didn't know how to get along with the cold and slow-to-warm-up Fu Xiaosi. With two different family backgrounds and two non-parallel worlds, multiple struggles and hardships were destined to exist between them. Lu Zhiang and Fu Xiaosi walked on the campus in the early morning.

Fu Xiaosi was in a low mood because they both liked Li Xia. He asked Lu Zhiang why he had suddenly been so concerned about Li Yanran's and his own affairs recently, wondering if it was because of Li Xia. Lu Zhiang remained silent. In fact, Fu Xiaosi knew very well in his heart that Lu Zhiang had an unusual concern for Li Xia, but he also had no way to stop his inner feelings of liking Li Xia.

English dictation was taking place in class. After the dictation, Fu Xiaosi angrily threw his dictation notebook onto Li Xia's desk. Li Xia felt as if he had eaten dynamite and couldn't be bothered to respond to Fu Xiaosi. Because his bicycle was locked by Fu Xiaosi, Lu Zhiang had to single-handedly carry it back to the bike shed. Sweating profusely from exhaustion, he was teased by Fu Xiaosi, and the anger in his heart could not dissipate.

The two engaged in open and covert struggles. During PE class, Lu Zhiang and Fu Xiaosi confronted each other, neither giving way. A rift appeared between the best of brothers for the first time, and their brotherhood faced a test. Fortunately, the two did not easily become enemies. They playfully joked around, and the rift and misunderstandings between them vanished. Lu Zhiang told Fu Xiaosi that Li Xia's family background was not good; he had always depended on his mother.

Seeing Fu Xiaosi's indifferent attitude, he felt so angry. Fu Xiaosi understood the whole story and felt even more sympathy for Li Xia in his heart. Fu Xiaosi and Li Xia exchanged notes. Not many words were needed between them; the small notes already carried their feelings for each other. Fu Xiaosi and Li Xia continued to fulfill their promise of Wednesday painting tutoring as usual. Their feelings slowly developed during their increasing time together.

The midterm exam results came out. Fu Xiaosi and Lu Zhiang were still among the top students, but Li Xia did not perform ideally. Because of the unsatisfactory scores, Li Xia was in a low mood, bearing the sadness brought by the exam alone. Fu Xiaosi and Lu Zhiang didn't want Li Xia to be constantly troubled by heavy studies, so they forcefully pulled him to skip class and relax at an amusement park.

At the amusement park, the three thoroughly enjoyed the excitement and pleasure brought by the rides, and their study worries had long been cast aside. Li Yanran happily brought movie tickets to find Fu Xiaosi, but found that Fu Xiaosi was not in the classroom. Cheng Qiqi proudly told Li Yanran that Li Xia, Fu Xiaosi, and Lu Zhiang had a very close relationship, warning her not to be cold and sarcastic towards Li Xia anymore.

Li Yanran's jealousy began to grow in her heart. Fu Xiaosi brought Lu Zhiang and Li Xia to his home as guests, but found that Li Yanran was also there. Li Xia looked very embarrassed. Fu's mother took Li Xia to get some clean clothes and privately asked about Li Xia's family situation. Fu's mother learned that Li Xia was from a single-parent family.

She asked Li Xia not to skip class and not to make such crazy moves that would hinder Fu Xiaosi's future. Li Xia could understand the implied meaning in Fu's mother's words. The experience at Fu Xiaosi's home left Li Xia feeling a bit disheartened. He realized for the first time that the gap between himself and Fu Xiaosi was so unreachable. He had always tried hard to get closer, but he could never escape the cruelty of reality.

In the following days, Li Xia tried to avoid Fu Xiaosi and unintentionally distanced himself from him. The class held elections for head and deputy class monitor. Teacher Wen Ren appointed Fu Xiaosi as the head monitor, and Li Xia was also elected as the deputy monitor because he was deeply liked by his classmates. Cheng Qiqi waited specifically for Lu Zhiang, excitedly taking him to the music room. She knew Lu Zhiang was talented and skilled in musical instruments.

She hoped Lu Zhiang would accompany her, aiming to make a splash at the school's evening gala. Lu Zhiang accepted Cheng Qiqi's invitation, but he begged Cheng Qiqi to keep it a secret for him and not let Li Xia know. Lu Zhiang played Li Xia's favorite piano piece with great emotion. He wanted to capture all of Li Xia's preferences. Perhaps it is when one truly cares about someone that one wants to know everything about him. This is probably what the initial budding of a beautiful romance looks like.
