Chen Xincheng and Li Dawei arrived at the criminal police team, where Captain Luo informed them about two new cases, including a murder. Captain Luo stated that another prostitute had gone missing, and this time, he was sure it was directly related to Yue Wei. He showed them surveillance footage from outside the nightclub where the woman worked, which captured Yue Wei's car following her.

They confirmed that the woman got into Yue Wei's car, as she was not seen in subsequent surveillance. Li Dawei questioned if there were previous cases, prompting Captain Luo to reveal a report from May about a missing female attendant from a bath center. Her family and workplace had mistakenly assumed she was elsewhere for the Spring Festival, only confirming her disappearance three months later.

Captain Luo explained they lacked evidence to link it to Yue Wei at the time, but Li Dawei immediately recalled their past tailing of Yue Wei near the Spring Festival and suggested the missing woman could have been in his car then, and that Yue Wei might have gone to the mountains to dispose of her body.

Chen Xincheng agreed that they might have missed something, emphasizing that Yue Wei, having worked in public security, was a highly cunning criminal with strong anti-investigation abilities, which explained his years of undetected crimes. Captain Luo then asked Li Dawei and Chen Xincheng if they were still monitoring Yue Wei's home. Li Dawei confirmed that Yue Wei's daily routine was unchanged, driving his unlicensed taxi in the morning and returning at night, with no one else observed in his car.

Chen Xincheng pointed out that given Yue Wei's anti-investigation skills, he wouldn't risk committing crimes near his home's monitor. Both Li Dawei and Chen Xincheng then suggested that Yue Wei likely committed crimes in his car, as he spent most of his time there, viewing it as his safest and most familiar space.

Captain Luo proposed applying for a search warrant for the car, but Chen Xincheng hesitated, fearing it would alert Yue Wei due to the lack of concrete evidence beyond the surveillance footage. Instead, Chen Xincheng suggested focusing on entertainment venues Yue Wei frequented, and Li Dawei mentioned the Sleepless Bar. After work, Yue Wei drove to the Sleepless Bar for a drink. He found the road outside under construction, making parking impossible.

Cao Jianjun, disguised as a bar security guard, offered to park Yue Wei's car for him in the Green Island Building's underground parking garage. A fellow bar employee expressed concern about Cao Jianjun's driving skills, but Yue Wei, after Cao Jianjun's assurance, handed over his keys. This was part of a planned operation. Cao Jianjun drove the car to the garage, where Chen Xincheng and Captain Luo, along with forensic technicians, were waiting.

They quickly searched the car and collected bloodstain samples. Fearing Yue Wei would become suspicious, Captain Luo instructed Cao Jianjun to return to the bar promptly. Inside the bar, Yue Wei became suspicious after a server told him that the road construction had only just begun. When Cao Jianjun returned with his car keys, Yue Wei, now wary, demanded to be taken to his car.

Cao Jianjun led him to the Green Island Building's underground garage, intentionally stating the car was on the third sub-level and that the elevator was "under repair," forcing them to take the stairs. This clever tactic bought critical time for Chen Xincheng, Captain Luo, and the forensic team to finish their work and withdraw from the car. After Yue Wei drove off, Cao Jianjun returned to the others, informing them of Yue Wei's vigilance and urging them to act quickly.

As Chen Xincheng and Captain Luo prepared to leave to process the evidence, Cao Jianjun expressed his desire to participate in the upcoming arrest operation, highlighting his experience with such criminals. Chen Xincheng then spoke with Wang Shouyi, appealing to let Cao Jianjun join. However, Wang Shouyi firmly rejected the request, reminding Chen Xincheng of the danger and threatening to remove both Chen Xincheng and Li Dawei from the operation if he continued to press the issue.

Captain Luo later informed Chen Xincheng and Li Dawei that the forensic analysis of blood samples from Yue Wei's car had identified DNA from three individuals. One sample conclusively matched the missing female attendant from the bath center, proving she had been in Yue Wei's car and bled there. With this breakthrough, Captain Luo gave special permission for Chen Xincheng and Li Dawei to join the arrest operation.

Wang Shouyi personally saw them off, providing them with protective vests and reminding them of the serious nature of the mission. While preparing, Chen Xincheng received a phone call from Cao Jianjun, who was inquiring about the DNA results. To maintain secrecy, Chen Xincheng lied, stating the results were still pending and urged Cao Jianjun to go home to his family. Wang Shouyi then reminded Chen Xincheng to be careful.

Chen Xincheng also tried to get more officers to join, but was informed by Gao Chao that Captain Luo had only allowed Chen Xincheng and Li Dawei to participate as a special recognition for their dedication to the case. Under a pouring rain, Captain Luo led the team, including Chen Xincheng and Li Dawei, to stake out Yue Wei's residence.

As Yue Wei arrived home, just as Captain Luo was about to initiate the arrest, Cao Jianjun suddenly appeared, having been waiting there every day since the initial car search. He pleaded with Chen Xincheng and Captain Luo to let him participate, even offering to act as a member from the joint defense.

Captain Luo, seeing the urgency of the situation and unable to send him away, reluctantly agreed but strictly warned Cao Jianjun, who was unarmed, to stay back from the dangerous fugitive. Meanwhile, Chen Xincheng received an urgent call from Chief Zhou. Chief Zhou, explaining his early retirement due to punishment, revealed a critical piece of information: a Type 54 pistol had gone missing from his station years ago.

Chen Xincheng immediately realized that Yue Wei was likely armed with this stolen police weapon. Inside his house, Yue Wei was browsing photos on his phone when he suddenly recalled that his car door was unlocked when he retrieved it from the garage. This detail made him realize that the "security guard" was a police officer. Hearing movement outside, he quickly hid, bracing for confrontation. Captain Luo led his team into Yue Wei's house, finding the rooms seemingly empty.

Li Dawei, searching diligently, discovered Yue Wei hiding beneath a bed. As Yue Wei emerged, he opened fire, aiming directly at Li Dawei. In a heroic act, Cao Jianjun lunged forward, pushing Li Dawei out of harm's way, and was struck by multiple bullets. He collapsed, fatally wounded. The officers swiftly moved in and apprehended Yue Wei. The tragedy left everyone devastated. Wang Shouyi arrived at the scene, overcome with grief and anger upon seeing Cao Jianjun's lifeless body.

A distraught Li Dawei clung to Wang Shouyi, sobbing and blaming himself for Cao Jianjun's sacrifice, and begged Wang Shouyi to punish him. Wang Shouyi, in his sorrow, instructed an officer to inform Zhou Hui, Cao Jianjun's wife, that Jianjun was a hero. Concurrently, in Yue Wei's hometown, local police discovered three female bodies buried deep within a forest. Chief Zhou arrived, heartbroken by the grim confirmation of Yue Wei's horrific crimes.

Back at the station, Li Dawei locked himself in his room, weeping inconsolably, haunted by guilt. Zhao Jiwei and Xia Jie stood silently outside his door, at a loss for how to comfort him. Yang Shu unexpectedly returned to the shared apartment. Zhao Jiwei immediately called Li Dawei out, who, upon seeing Yang Shu, rushed to embrace him, both shedding tears over Cao Jianjun's death. Zhao Jiwei and Xia Jie watched, deeply moved.

Later, Wang Shouyi informed Cheng Hao that Cao Jianjun's funeral was scheduled for the next day, with bureau leaders in attendance. Wang Shouyi insisted that Cao Jianjun's body be brought to Balihe Police Station for his final journey, declaring, "He is our man. This is his home. Let him leave from here." The following morning, a banner proclaiming "Welcome home, Jianjun" adorned the entrance of Balihe Police Station.

Wang Shouyi and all the officers stood in solemn salute as Cao Jianjun's casket was carried away, honoring his sacrifice. After the ceremony, Yang Shu formally returned to Balihe Police Station. Wang Shouyi welcomed him back, then personally conducted the commissioning ceremony for Li Dawei, Xia Jie, Zhao Jiwei, and Yang Shu, officially elevating them to People's Police officers.

He delivered an impassioned speech, reminding them of the inherent honor of the police profession, especially in peacetime, and urged them to uphold its solemn duty and mission throughout their lives, even into retirement. The four officers, now formally sworn in, reaffirmed their commitment. Immediately afterward, an emergency call came in: in Daxing Village, Mr. Liu's chicken had allegedly flown onto Mr. Fu's roof, causing damage and sparking a fight between the neighbors.

Li Dawei, Xia Jie, Zhao Jiwei, and Yang Shu eagerly volunteered to respond, and Wang Shouyi sent them all together. They set off in high spirits to resolve the seemingly trivial but important community dispute.
