As Gao Chao was about to transport Liu Xiaoguang to the infectious disease hospital, Liu Xiaoguang suddenly fainted. Gao Chao immediately contacted Wang Shouyi, informing him of the situation, and then rushed Liu Xiaoguang to the hospital for emergency treatment. The doctors diagnosed Liu Xiaoguang with fulminant hepatitis, a life-threatening condition, and issued a critical illness notice. Gao Chao reported this to Wang Shouyi, who instructed him to spare no effort to save Liu Xiaoguang.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Bureau’s technical department quickly decrypted Liu Xiaoguang's WeChat chat records, revealing over 500 contacts, with conversations predominantly focused on selling stolen goods. Wang Shouyi tasked Cheng Hao and Zhang Zhijie with leading a team to investigate the suspicious contacts on the list, while he went to arrange payment for Liu Xiaoguang's medical expenses. Cheng Hao divided the officers into three groups.

Zhao Jiwei volunteered to join the investigation, but Cheng Hao insisted he stay and rest his injured arm, departing with Xia Jie and others. Upon returning to the station, Li Dawei and Yang Shu observed everyone wearing masks and the entire premises being disinfected. It was then that Li Dawei learned the thief Zhao Jiwei had apprehended, Liu Xiaoguang, was suffering from hepatitis. Zhao Jiwei stood aside, visibly distraught.

Li Dawei approached him, offering comfort and eventually coaxing him to eat. However, Zhao Jiwei, in low spirits, had no appetite. Li Dawei continued to console him, reminding him that the incident was simply bad luck and not his fault. Zhao Jiwei mentioned that Chief Gao had reprimanded him, to which Li Dawei responded that Chief Gao was merely worried.

With Liu Xiaoguang falling ill while in the custody of the Balihe Police Station, and his family refusing to take responsibility by stating it was the station's duty to care for him, Wang Shouyi struggled to gather funds for his medical care. Zhao Jiwei, feeling immense guilt, volunteered to go to the hospital to look after Liu Xiaoguang.

Li Dawei also eagerly offered to help, but Wang Shouyi forbade either of them from interfering, explaining he was already working on a solution and that a police station operates as a team. Later that night, after treating his own arm injury, Zhao Jiwei called his parents back home to reassure them, carefully omitting his troubles.

Li Dawei, overhearing the conversation from outside the door, entered to comfort him and re-bandaged his inflamed wound, urging him to take better care of himself. Touched by Li Dawei's concern, Zhao Jiwei tearfully thanked him. Li Dawei, feigning discomfort, tried to lighten the mood. Soon after, Yang Shu entered, and together, he and Li Dawei led Zhao Jiwei to a hotpot dinner prepared by Yang Shu and Xia Jie.

The gesture deeply moved Zhao Jiwei, who expressed his gratitude to his friends for their support during his difficult time, declaring them his family. The four shared a meal filled with laughter and camaraderie. The following morning, Zhao Jiwei learned that Zhang Zhijie had spent the previous night on duty at the infectious disease hospital, despite not being able to enter Liu Xiaoguang's ward and having to sleep on a chair outside. Feeling remorseful for causing trouble, Zhao Jiwei apologized.

Zhang Zhijie reassured him that everyone makes mistakes. He also informed Zhao Jiwei that Liu Xiaoguang’s family had arrived, so they no longer needed to worry about his care. Regarding the theft, Zhang Zhijie noted that Liu Xiaoguang's accomplices had fled, and the receiver claimed ignorance of the stolen nature of the goods. Zhang Zhijie, however, remained optimistic, believing that their efforts to treat Liu Xiaoguang might lead him to confess once he recovered.

He then instructed Zhao Jiwei to change into plain clothes for a new mission. Yang Shu reported to Cao Jianjun about the proposal to install charging piles in the community. Cao Jianjun was skeptical, believing residents wouldn't pay for charging cards when they had home electricity, but Yang Shu explained he had already secured agreements from the charging pile manufacturer and the GPS company.

Cao Jianjun, preoccupied with an antique theft case, delegated the task of mobilizing residents to purchase charging cards to Yang Shu, reminding him to embody the "Fengqiao spirit" by engaging with the community. Meanwhile, Zhang Zhijie and Zhao Jiwei, dressed in plain clothes, began their stakeout in the old residential community. They soon spotted the seven men they were tracking, leaving on two electric tricycles. The two officers discreetly followed them on their own electric scooters.

Concurrently, Yang Shu struggled with his community outreach. He displayed banners promoting charging cards that came with a free GPS system for electric bikes, but residents showed little interest. Ms. Feng, a resident whose electric bike had been stolen previously, recognized Yang Shu. He tried to convince her to buy a charging card. Ms. Feng was reluctant to spend money and even asked Yang Shu to pay for her.

After a moment of hesitation, Yang Shu agreed to give her the first card for free if she helped him gather more residents. Ms. Feng returned with several other women, all expecting free cards. Yang Shu patiently explained that 200 yuan was already the heavily discounted price, which they refused to accept. Amusingly, some of the older women then tried to set Yang Shu up with their nieces and granddaughters, much to his exasperation.

Zhang Zhijie and Zhao Jiwei continued to tail the seven suspects, following them to a construction site where they witnessed the men stealing fasteners. Zhang Zhijie, having already identified two previous disposal spots for stolen goods, aimed to uncover more leads. He explained to Zhao Jiwei that he deduced their method by observing the peculiar wounds on their bodies, which were consistent with carrying the angular fasteners inside their clothes.

They waited until the suspects finished work and then tracked them to a third disposal point. Zhang Zhijie recorded the entire process with his phone, confident in the evidence they had gathered. They then returned to the station to report to Wang Shouyi, planning to strategize how to apprehend the entire group and dismantle their operation without alerting them prematurely. Zhao Jiwei expressed his admiration for Zhang Zhijie's investigative prowess, remarking that his abilities were on par with Cheng Hao's.

He wondered why Zhang Zhijie had not been promoted to Deputy Director. Zhang Zhijie, however, was content, stating that he and Chief Gao had joined the force around the same time and that he was meant to learn from Gao Chao, not the other way around. He dismissed concerns about rank and promotion, explaining that his wife was very supportive and that he simply wished to do his job well and retire on time to spend more time with her.

That night, Gao Chao led a team of officers back to the community. With the assistance of property management staff, they knocked on the door of the suspects' rented apartment. The seven men were caught off guard and apprehended without resistance. Gao Chao, needing to respond to a taxi driver's report, instructed Zhang Zhijie to escort the arrested suspects back to the station. Sun Shijie then directed Zhao Jiwei to accompany Gao Chao to the new call.

Gao Chao and Zhao Jiwei arrived at the scene, where a taxi driver explained that a young boy had entered his cab but could not articulate his destination. Gao Chao gently questioned the boy, who remained silent. Observing the boy hadn't eaten, Gao Chao took him to a restaurant. There, over a meal, the boy broke down in tears, revealing that his father had scolded him, prompting him to run away.

His true intention was to visit his deceased mother's grave. Gao Chao patiently comforted the distraught child, promising to take him to his mother's cemetery after they found his father, and gently reminded him about the worries his father must be experiencing.
