My Mowgli Boy Episode 37 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Mowgli arrived at Ling Xi's home, expressing his serious intention to propose to Ling Xi and seeking the approval of her father and Wen Yu. Wen Yu first asked if Mowgli's parents knew about his relationship with Ling Xi and their attitude. Mowgli revealed that he had no parents and grew up alone, assuring them that Ling Xi would not face complicated mother-in-law and daughter-in-law conflicts or other family issues after marrying him.
He promised to give Ling Xi a good future. Ling Xi's father then asked Mowgli to provide a convincing reason to entrust his daughter to him. Mowgli solemnly pledged to treat Ling Xi well. Ling Xi's father acknowledged that "good" was an abstract concept and worried about changes in feelings from romance to marriage.
Mowgli understood his concern and sincerely stated his commitment to always be by Ling Xi's side, acknowledging that Ling Xi once liked Zheng Li and that he still lagged far behind him, but he would give his all to provide her with the best. Ling Xi's father, touched by Mowgli's sincerity, had Ling Xi's first car, which he had secretly bought back, returned to Mowgli and handed him the keys.
He clarified that giving the keys did not signify full approval of the marriage but entrusted Mowgli to protect Ling Xi. Mowgli accepted, promising to work harder to earn his trust and treat Ling Xi even better. Meanwhile, Lu Ziyue and Tang Cheng were helping Mowgli "rehearse" his proposal, which involved a crane stunt. Lu Ziyue, suspended in mid-air, was terrified and couldn't open his eyes, while Tang Cheng was bold and even kissed him, sharing a sweet moment.
At the office, Mowgli smiled, holding the engagement ring, excited for the upcoming proposal. A colleague brought him project documents. Ling Xi, unaware of the impending proposal, was dressed casually. Tutu and other friends knew Mowgli was planning to propose and tried various methods to persuade Ling Xi to change into a beautiful dress and put on makeup, but she was too busy to listen.
Tang Cheng also tried to convince Ling Xi to go home for new clothes and delicate makeup. While still confused, Ling Xi suddenly saw the crane and wires at the community entrance. Her mind raced, and she immediately realized Mowgli was preparing to propose, so she rushed back home, her heart pounding with shyness and joy. At the same time, Mowgli was in his office, reviewing documents for the Senmu project.
He accidentally discovered that a company called Bozhong Trading Company was involved in a forest development project many years ago and was linked to a murder case where the victim was the Ranger's grandfather. That night, Mowgli drove distractedly, which led to a minor car accident, unfortunately ruining the planned proposal. Soon after, Ling Xi heard that Mowgli had been in an accident. Ling Xi hurried to the hospital to check on Mowgli.
Thankfully, he only suffered minor injuries from a low-speed rear-end collision. Expecting a proposal, Ling Xi was disappointed when Mowgli only presented her with the car keys, saying he got her car back. Ling Xi's father, who was secretly observing, was furious. When Ling Xi went to pay the fees, he confronted Mowgli, reprimanding him for disappointing Ling Xi.
Mowgli, unusually cold, explained that it was not the right time for a proposal, as he didn't want Ling Xi to witness his embarrassment or for their relationship to have any "stain." Ling Xi’s father, however, remained unconvinced, questioning Mowgli's sincerity and telling him to let Ling Xi go if he was unwilling to be straightforward about their marriage. Despite her disappointment, Ling Xi did not blame Mowgli.
Instead, she put her arm around his neck and playfully joked with him, reminiscing about their first meeting in the hospital. She expressed how important he was to her, saying her life would be boring without him and that he had been there for her during difficult times. Mowgli, however, remained distracted and did not propose. Later that night, Lu Ziyue spoke with Mowgli, sensing that something serious had happened to make him cancel the proposal.
Mowgli remained silent but became interested when Lu Ziyue mentioned looking up information in the library, asking if 1990s news records were available. Mowgli was determined to investigate Bozhong Company's background. Meanwhile, Donghai received 200,000 yuan from Zheng Li's father to help Ling Yu pay off his debts, but it was far from enough, and the loan sharks turned him away.
The next day, Mowgli found old newspapers at the library, revealing that Bozhong Trading Company was involved in illegal wildlife trafficking and a "Mr. Ding" was charged with negligent homicide. Mowgli was unaware that "Mr. Ding" was Ling Yu's biological father, Donghai. Having previously received Mowgli's business card, Donghai called Mowgli, seeking his help in finding a job to sustain himself in the city. Mowgli went to Ling Xi's studio, Morzi, to discuss Donghai's job request.
Ling Xi felt Mowgli's recent behavior was strange, misinterpreting his mood as a cold war intended to provoke her into breaking up. She initiated the breakup, telling him that she had been waiting for him and his evasion made her feel their relationship was in trouble. She urged him to communicate if something was wrong or if his feelings had changed. When Mowgli still couldn't elaborate, Ling Xi, frustrated by his silence, believed he wanted to break up and finally said, "Let's break up."
