My Mowgli Boy Episode 24 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Ling Yu receives a message from Gao Jie asking if he plans to apologize after ignoring her for a day. Ling Yu meets Gao Jie for dinner. Gao Jie's attitude is haughty, and Ling Yu shows some impatience. Gao Jie expresses her dissatisfaction, feeling more wronged, and starts to cry as she recalls Ling Yu leaving her alone at the bridal shop. Ling Yu suggests they change restaurants, but Gao Jie declines, stating she only wants to dine with him.
She questions what he was doing that morning when he didn't reply to her messages, to which he responds he was busy with quarterly reports. Ling Yu then tries to appease her by offering her favorite food and asking about their honeymoon plans. Gao Jie becomes upset, reminding him that she already told him about Iceland when they were trying on wedding dresses, which he clearly hadn't remembered.
She also confronts him about leaving her alone at the bridal shop, causing her embarrassment. Ling Yu apologizes for his thoughtlessness. Gao Jie asks if he still loves her, recalling how he used to immediately apologize when she was angry. Ling Yu responds by asking if she prefers him as such a humble man. Gao Jie clarifies that she just needs a sense of security and wants him to sweeten her up when she's upset.
Leaning into his arms, she nervously reveals that their investment has lost money. Tang Cheng seeks help from Hou, her boss, to arrange a meeting with Lu Ziyue. Hou sternly tells her that since she was not sincere to Lu Ziyue in the beginning, she should not bother him anymore. He compares Lu Ziyue's pain to "hell" (bone-crushing ash) while hers is "just like being bitten by a mosquito."
Tang Cheng insists that after Ling Xi exposed her earlier, she realized her feelings for Lu Ziyue are genuine and asks Hou to help her arrange a meeting. Hou refuses to get involved in "young people's business," advising her to solve it herself. Tang Cheng laments that Lu Ziyue has blocked her calls, messages, and even changed his morning run schedule, making it impossible to "ambush" him.
Returning home, Tang Cheng complains to Ling Xi about her predicament, asking if she brought this trouble upon herself. Ling Xi agrees with disdain, telling her to put aside her pride and win Lu Ziyue back, assuring her there's still a chance since he's "at home" and not truly hiding. However, their conversation veers off course as Ling Xi tries to convince Tang Cheng to let Chu Shi stay at their place.
Tang Cheng initially flatly refuses, citing that she already accommodates Ling Xi and Mowgli. Ling Xi persists, even dramatically suggesting that if Chu Shi, being a lonely orphan, is left homeless, she might "collapse" and, in a fit of despair, blow up Lu Ziyue's school, as they attend the same institution. This shocking revelation makes Tang Cheng reconsider, and she agrees to let Chu Shi stay, but only if she signs a rental contract.
Chu Shi signs the rental contract, but upon reading it, she is surprised to find clauses detailing "fixed point tracking" and "besiegement of important personnel" regarding Lu Ziyue. She then jokingly wonders if she has mistakenly joined a "Secret Service." Meanwhile, Lu Ziyue is at the gym late at night, working out with Zheng Li.
Zheng Li asks him if he's trying to hide from Tang Cheng, noting Lu Ziyue's inner pain and his inability to let go of Tang Cheng. Lu Ziyue admits to feeling tired but compares his efforts to the "flywheel effect," believing that once he pushes past a critical point, it will become effortless.
Zheng Li observes that women are like "mass-destruction weapons" due to their unpredictable nature and advises Lu Ziyue to focus on his own life rather than dwelling on others, emphasizing that he must take a step forward to move on. Later, Mowgli returns home discreetly, but Ling Xi is awake, waiting for him. She offers him some soup, teasingly claiming it was for warming her hands.
Mowgli shares that he was at the gym with Lu Ziyue and Zheng Li, expressing his belief that Lu Ziyue still hasn't moved on from Tang Cheng. Ling Xi characterizes their situation as an "internal battle," fighting with themselves. She reveals that she knew Mowgli was doing manual labor to move furniture because she saw staff in uniform with carts during their video chat. Ling Xi expresses concern over his bruised hand, urging him to stop doing such strenuous work.
Mowgli explains that he's trying to find his "position" and that "trial-and-error is inevitable," adding that he must work hard because she does too. Ling Xi, very touched, leans on Mowgli's shoulder. She then clarifies that she has no intention of returning to her old path or starting from where she fell, believing that her previous career was not suitable and that merely rebuilding without addressing the root issues would be "treating symptoms not the root cause."
They then share a playful moment as Mowgli teases her about her cooking, and she jokingly threatens to feed her soup to a dog, before they enjoy the soup together. Bai Yiling's parents suddenly arrive in Shanghai to visit her. She immediately becomes nervous, fearing they might discover her divorce, and breathes a sigh of relief when she learns they haven't contacted Chi Xu. Her parents explain they were just traveling and decided to visit her.
Bai Yiling reassures her mother that she is doing well, despite her father jokingly scolding his wife for being overly talkative. Bai Yiling then tries to rush them off, suggesting they return home and she can accompany them next time with an annual leave, but they decline, insisting she focus on work. She mentions that Chi Xu is currently on a business trip. Just then, Zheng Li appears.
Bai Yiling subtly warns him with a look that her parents are unaware of her divorce. Recognizing the situation, Zheng Li quickly introduces himself as "Mr. Chi's secretary," explaining that Chi Xu sent him to care for them due to his own busy schedule. Bai Yiling corroborates his story, adding that Zheng Li's former company partners with hers. Zheng Li offers to drive them, claiming the car is provided by Chi Xu's company.
However, he inadvertently mentions that Bai Yiling has "changed her apartment" and "salary increased" since starting her new job, which immediately piques her mother's interest, who insists on seeing it, despite Bai Yiling's attempts to deter her by saying it's not yet tidied up. Zheng Li, greatly surprised, quickly calls Ling Xi for help, asking her to stage Bai Yiling's new apartment to look like a couple's home.
Ling Xi, noting it was her former room, readily agrees and gathers Mowgli and Chu Shi for the task. Mowgli initially objects to helping Zheng Li, calling him his "former rival in love," but quickly backs down after Ling Xi warns him not to mention past rivals to his "current boyfriend." Chu Shi playfully complains about their public display of affection. The trio quickly sets up the apartment with masculine items and a romantic note.
When Bai Yiling brings her parents home, seeing the house completely renewed, she relaxes. Her parents are impressed and believe she is living with Chi Xu. Her mother sends Bai Yiling out to buy fresh fruit, then begins to discreetly interrogate Zheng Li about the apartment's cost and Bai Yiling's well-being. Zheng Li skillfully evades direct answers, explaining their business relationship and Bai Yiling's tendency to shield her parents from worries.
He assures her that Bai Yiling's new, handsome, and kind boss does not overwork her, even mentioning he picked her up the previous day. Her mother then shifts her attention to Zheng Li's own personal life, asking about his age and marriage plans. He states his focus is on his career, jokingly aiming to earn "500 million yuan." Just then, Bai Yiling's father emerges from the bathroom, announcing that the toilet is clogged.
Zheng Li seizes the opportunity to escape the interrogation, eagerly offering to fix it himself. While clearing the blockage, he pulls out a rag, soap, and toothpaste, items that Ling Xi's group accidentally dropped in while staging the apartment. Outside the apartment, Mowgli correctly predicts the family's exit, much to Chu Shi's surprise.
As Bai Yiling and her parents prepare to leave, Mowgli and Chu Shi encounter them and enthusiastically invite her parents to stay for a hot pot dinner, mentioning the availability of wine. Attracted by the prospect of wine, Bai Yiling's father agrees. During dinner, Bai Yiling's father becomes inebriated and mistakes Mowgli for Chi Xu.
He launches into a drunken tirade, accusing Mowgli (as Chi Xu) of forgetting his wedding day advice and failing to let Bai Yiling express her willfulness, always being "obedient and sensible" instead. He further criticizes him for being self-centered and for Bai Yiling's years of suppressing her true feelings and shouldering all difficulties alone. Zheng Li attempts to interject, promising that Bai Yiling will no longer have to bear burdens by herself.
Her father continues, expressing that his only hope for his daughter was for her to have a lifelong companion, not material wealth, and laments the rarity of couples who "share a sip of water with each other" through all hardships. Zheng Li assures him again that she will never be alone. After the parents depart, Bai Yiling's mother questions if her husband was truly drunk, and he admits it was an act.
Bai Yiling returns home and, while tidying up, discovers money and a heartfelt letter from her father. The letter reveals that both her parents were aware of her divorce all along and had even confronted Chi Xu to vent their anger. It includes a flashback where her father confronted Chi Xu at his company.
During the heated exchange, Chi Xu shamelessly accused Bai Yiling of leaving him for a "young rich man" and cruelly blamed her "sterility" for their divorce, enraging her father who physically lashed out. In the letter, her father explains his "firecracker" temper and promises to handle any gossiping relatives back home, urging her to live the life she desires without fear. He quotes an ancient saying, "Jiusan Lang, do you still want to chew it carefully?"
, encouraging her to let go of bitter memories that prolong pain and to embrace a future free from regret. He expresses profound regret for having "given her to the wrong person" at her wedding, but then thanks Chi Xu for giving his "dearest baby" back, stating that her return brings him the same joy as seeing her as a newborn.
He lovingly encourages her to move forward without fear of making mistakes or starting over, assuring her that he will always be there for her. Deeply moved by her father's words, Bai Yiling breaks down in tears, and Zheng Li silently embraces her. Mowgli and Chu Shi are engrossed in a discussion about public welfare, with Chu Shi commending Mowgli for his "innate sense of responsibility." Mowgli expresses his joy in doing such work.
Feeling left out, Ling Xi joins them but then redirects Mowgli, asking him to read with her, stating her desire to study, which he agrees to. Meanwhile, Lu Ziyue is at home, cloaked in a blanket, in a state of melancholy, having refused to go out. His mother worries he's having dark thoughts, but he speaks philosophically about the "emptiness of the material world" already being "through" and finding quietness through inner quest.
His mother attempts to "exorcise the evil" of Tang Cheng, deeming her more troublesome than "The Monster Nian," and insists that Tang Cheng's name should no longer be mentioned at home, declaring their relationship "over." However, she senses Lu Ziyue is merely feigning indifference. His mother then tries to cheer him up by likening love to mahjong, suggesting that after one loss, a big win is just around the corner, perhaps even a "full flush, self-drawn, with bonus."
She presents him with a selection of blind date profiles, including women in foreign trade, finance, early childhood education, and even a colleague who teaches classical literature, urging him to choose one. Lu Ziyue's parents then fall into an argument about their own first loves.
His father claims that few first loves last and that one must "see all the waves of the world" before settling into ordinary life, to which his mother agrees, citing their own happy marriage despite not being each other's first loves. However, the father challenges her, asking if she meant he was not her first love, which she denies, admitting she "beautified" things during their courtship.
Their argument escalates, with his mother defending first loves as necessary learning experiences and implying that without his first love, his father wouldn't have appreciated her. The father demands to know her regrets, leading to further bickering, with accusations of "spiritual infidelity" and "tyranny" being thrown around. Exhausted by their incessant quarreling, Lu Ziyue finally agrees to go on a blind date.
