Martial Universe: Season 1 Episode 7 Recap
> Martial Universe: Season 1 Recap
After Lin Dong returned the Divine Talisman Scroll, Master Yan asked if he was interested in joining the Talisman Guild, explaining that a Talisman Guru is a powerful figure, like Master Fu Zu who sealed the Yi-Demons centuries ago. Master Yan revealed he knew Lin Dong possessed the stone talisman and had entered his spiritual domain without training, a rare talent.
He called the talisman the "Devour Talisman," a magic weapon inherited by the Talisman Guild for millennia, whose immense power could be controlled by joining the guild. However, Lin Dong, wanting only to care for his family by curing his father's injuries and ensuring a good life for his sister Qingtan, stated he had no grand ambitions. Master Yan tried to persuade him not to stay in Qingyang Town his whole life, but Lin Dong was resolute in his refusal.
Later, Master Yan's assistant, Xuan Su, questioned if Lin Dong, being so ordinary, was the person Master Yan sought, to which Master Yan replied that Lin Dong's pure heart and lack of ambition were rare, but conceded that without the desire to become a Talisman Guru, the talisman was just a useless rock.
Back home, Lin Dong reflected on Master Yan's offer, looking at his family and recalling the token Master Yan gave him, inviting him to Qiwu Tower if he changed his mind. Meanwhile, a spectral Elder Mu appeared before Lin Langtian, who was nursing injuries. Lin Langtian confessed he lost the Yi-Demon's trace after it left Lei Li's body. Elder Mu, seeing his poor condition, suggested he return, but Lin Langtian's confidence remained unshaken.
Elder Mu expressed concern about the Yi-Demon's elusive nature and ability to possess others, acknowledging her own difficulty in controlling it. Lin Langtian inquired if there was any other solution, and Elder Mu revealed a dangerous method: sealing the Yi-Demon forcibly within his own yuan pellet. This required an unshakeable mind, as failure would lead to his will being eroded and his complete destruction alongside the demon.
Lin Langtian declared he could do it, assuring Elder Mu of his unwavering determination. Elsewhere, Ying Huanhuan sent a distress signal to the Dao Sect. Her father, Ying Xuanzi, prevented his disciple Wu Dao from rushing to her aid, insisting they wait. Despite Wu Dao's worries about Ying Huanhuan's youth and limited martial arts, Ying Xuanzi wrestled with his decision, knowing his daughter had her own mission.
He was, however, reassured by an assistant that with the Ancestral Talisman descendant nearby, Ying Huanhuan would surely be safe. At the Lei family estate, an unsuspecting Lei Li excitedly told his brother Lei Zhong about the massive yang yuan-stone mine behind Beast Valley, more valuable than their Tiemu Forest, and urged him to take it back from the Lin Clan.
Lei Zhong, now controlled by the Yi-Demon, agreed to Lei Li's request, but then consumed Lei Li to absorb his power. Ying Huanhuan, who had been investigating, witnessed this horrific event. Startled, she exposed herself and fled, drawing Lei Zhong away before circling back to the Lei family compound, only to be captured by the possessed Lei Zhong. Later, Lin Langtian and Ling Qingzhu practiced sword fighting in a forest.
Ling Qingzhu observed Lin Langtian was troubled, and he admitted he couldn't hide anything from her. She confronted him about his plan to use Lin Dong as bait again during the mine opening the next day, knowing the Yi-Demon coveted the ancestral talisman. Lin Langtian affirmed that all means were justified to defeat the Yi-Demon, as it was elusive and needed to be lured out. He dismissed Ling Qingzhu's concerns, declaring there were "no what-ifs."
The next day, as Lin Dong and Lin Xiao led their clan to the mine, Lin Xiao sensed something was wrong. They were ambushed by Lei Zhong, now fully under the Yi-Demon's control, and his servants. Lin Dong quickly realized Lei Zhong was not himself. The Yi-Demon, speaking through Lei Zhong, demanded the stone talisman on Lin Dong's chest. During the ensuing battle, the Yi-Demon's attack on Lin Dong was strangely repelled. Lin Langtian and Ling Qingzhu arrived.
Ling Qingzhu explained that Lin Langtian had placed "bait" on Lin Dong, which attracted the Yi-Demon. Lin Dong, furious that Lin Langtian had endangered him and his father, was quickly silenced by Lin Xiao. Lin Langtian calmly explained that the Yi-Demon was sly and could only be controlled by using its own rebounded energy. He assured everyone he was fully prepared and no one would get hurt.
Suddenly, the Yi-Demon produced a captive Ying Huanhuan, mocking their attempts to trick it and demanding the stone talisman for her life. Ying Huanhuan, proud daughter of Ying Xuanzi, urged Lin Dong not to trade the talisman, claiming they wouldn't dare harm her. Lin Qingtan, back at home, noticed the Fire-Python Tiger acting strangely and, sensing trouble, followed it towards Beast Valley.
As Lin Langtian agreed to the exchange and the talisman was handed over, Ling Qingzhu argued that giving it to the Yi-Demon would lead to everyone's demise. Seeing the Yi-Demon now possessing the talisman, Lin Xiao rushed forward and snatched it. The Yi-Demon pursued him. As Lin Qingtan arrived at the scene, she witnessed Lin Xiao holding the Yi-Demon in a tight embrace, sacrificing himself by shattering his yuan pellet to wound the demon.
Its controlled subordinates collapsed and died, and Lin Xiao vanished. Lin Langtian then immediately intervened, sealing the weakened Yi-Demon within his own yuan pellet. Afterward, Lin Dong buried his father's drinking set in place of his body. He spoke to the makeshift grave, praising his father's bravery in his final fight against the Yi-Demon. He promised his heartbroken sister Qingtan that he would always take good care of her, feed her well, and never let anyone bully her.
Ying Huanhuan secretly wept nearby. Ling Qingzhu also paid her respects at the grave, offering her apologies for her and Lin Langtian's overconfidence. Lin Dong then confronted her, asking if Lin Langtian had known from the beginning that the Yi-Demon was in the Lei Clan, and if all the subsequent events had been part of his scheme. Ling Qingzhu's silence confirmed his suspicions. Lin Dong, realizing Lin Langtian was a schemer, vowed to settle scores with him one by one.
Consumed by pain from the sealed Yi-Demon, Lin Langtian struggled to control it in the Lin family ancestral hall. Lin Dong burst in, calling him a "scum" and attacking him. Lin Qingtan desperately tried to intervene, begging Lin Dong to stop. Lin Dong, however, refused, enumerating Lin Langtian's past betrayals: ten years ago, during the Lin Clan competition, Lin Langtian attacked his father's known weakness to gain entry to Yuan Gate, causing a permanent disability.
Now, to capture the Yi-Demon and gain merit, Lin Langtian had used Qingtan as bait, leading to the ambush and ultimately his father's death. Lin Dong bitterly pointed out that Lin Langtian was now seen as a hero, while their father lay buried. Lin Langtian retorted that Lin Dong was to blame for offending the Lei family, endangering Qingtan, and for keeping the stone talisman which attracted the Yi-Demon.
He claimed Lin Dong's low cultivation level made him incapable of protecting his family, stating he had covertly protected Lin Dong multiple times. Lin Dong angrily questioned if he and his father were merely tools for Lin Langtian. Lin Langtian, in intense pain, cut off the argument, declaring that reasoning was futile, and the Yi-Demon must die.
He added that he paid a huge price to capture the Yi-Demon and could not let it out again, also ordering the elimination of the Fire-Python Tiger to avoid future trouble.
