Martial Universe: Season 1 Episode 29 Recap
> Martial Universe: Season 1 Recap
Xiao Diao confessed he was not a virgin, which was problematic as the method to break the enchantment, the Herbal Talisman of Nine Yang Divinities, required blood from three different virgin males. Xiao Yan offered to give blood for two people, boldly stating his willingness to fight against the Yin Puppet Sect and Yi-Demons for justice.
Xuan Su explained that the Herbal Talisman of Nine Yang Divinities needed three distinct types of blood to be created, and going with just Lin Dong and Xiao Yan would be suicidal. Lin Langtian then volunteered his blood, explaining that it was his mistake that led to Qingtan's capture, and he felt compelled to make amends by helping them breach the enchantment. Xuan Su urged Lin Dong to accept, noting Lin Langtian's high cultivation level would be beneficial.
Qingzhu agreed, emphasizing the urgency of the situation and that they had no other choice. Lin Dong finally consented, asking Senior Xuan Su to take their blood and prepare to activate the enchantment. Before the ritual, Lin Dong confronted Lin Langtian, asking what Qingtan meant to him now. Lin Langtian replied that Qingtan was simply Qingtan.
He admitted that he was the one who abandoned her, and he was determined to save her, not just to clear his conscience, because he knew even that wouldn't be enough. Lin Langtian then recounted his past, how he, as the Lin Clan's hope, was sent to Yuan Gate. He initially aimed to make a name for himself, but being an orphaned descendant from a declining clan, he faced many difficulties.
He felt immense loneliness, enduring everything in the dark, until he met Qingtan. She once told him she would protect him. He described Qingtan as innately kind, relying on him while he believed in her, vowing never to disappoint her. When Lin Dong asked if he could trust him one more time, Lin Langtian coldly replied that it was Lin Dong's choice, and he currently had no other options.
As a farewell gesture, Qingzhu and Huanhuan prepared "boosting courage" wine, with Qingzhu mischievously spitting into the wine. At this moment, the Herbal Talisman of Nine Yang Divinities was successfully created. Lin Dong then unveiled his "great plan" to gather support. On a public stage, he announced that the Yin Puppet Sect had colluded with Yi-Demons and likely stolen the Dimension Talisman. The crowd was shocked and began to murmur.
Xuan Su added to the declaration, stating that the Talisman Guild vowed to fully confront the Yin Puppet Sect. However, many in the crowd expressed disbelief and questioned Lin Dong's qualifications to lead them against the powerful sect, given he was only a first-level Talisman Guru. Lin Dong began to speak, skillfully appealing to both their reason and emotions. Huanhuan cheered him on from the side.
He humbly admitted his past as an inconspicuous young boy from Qingyang Town, not a disciple of any super sect, and without any inherent duty to save the world. He understood their doubts about his qualifications and didn't aim to lead them in some grand endeavor. Instead, he painted a grim picture of the world under Yi-Demon rule, where no one's property or life would be safe.
He then promised that if they helped him, all of Yin Puppet Sect's territory and assets would be theirs after the battle. Though some were skeptical, Lin Dong's argument about protecting their wealth and lives from the Yi-Demons resonated. He revealed that his true, underlying motivation was to save his sister. The crowd gradually began to be convinced by his words.
Meanwhile, at the Yin Puppet Sect, Teng Cha taunted Qingtan, telling her that the older brother she longed for was coming to save her, but once he arrived, he wouldn't be allowed to leave. Qingtan, bound within the array, constantly recalled cherished memories of Lin Dong and Xiao Yan. Outside, Lin Dong, Xiao Yan, and Lin Langtian fiercely battled the Yin Puppet Sect. The three activated the Herbal Talisman of Nine Yang Divinities to counter the Yin Puppet Sect's formation.
From above, Mu Qianqian watched, hoping their intense fighting would hasten Qingtan's demise. As they seemingly broke through the formation with ease, Lin Langtian suspected a trap. However, Lin Dong, desperate to save his sister, ignored the warning. He saw Qingtan still trapped within the array and frantically activated the formation further, inadvertently causing her more pain. Lin Langtian shouted that it was a trap.
Teng Cha then gloated, explaining that the Yin Puppet Sect's enchantment was far more complex than they imagined; Lin Dong's attempts to break it were only strengthening it and hastening Qingtan's death. He demanded the Talisman Script to unseal the Devour Talisman, or Qingtan would die before Lin Dong's eyes. Lin Dong refused, declaring they would fight to the death. Teng Cha then vowed to claim Lin Dong's life in the Mythical Enchantment of Nine Yin Demons.
Lin Dong, Xiao Yan, and Lin Langtian were successively injured. Seeing their plight, Qingtan bravely used her cold poison to strike through the array, severely wounding Teng Cha. Despite his injuries, Teng Cha remained a formidable opponent. Enraged, Lin Dong fought back with bare hands, eventually knocking down Teng Cha. The Ancestral Talisman emerged from Teng Cha's body, and the Devour Talisman, embodying the path of devouring all creatures, appeared. Lin Dong absorbed the Devour Talisman.
He then utilized the Heavenly Imprisonment Palm of the Great Wilderness to drive Teng Cha away, and the sky returned to its normal color. Teng Cha, fleeing in disarray, repeatedly encountered Mu Qianqian, who, identifying herself as a Yuan Gate Deacon Elder, moved to kill him. Just as she attacked, Xiao Yan and Qingzhu arrived, saving Teng Cha. Xuan Su explained that Teng Cha carried vital clues about the Yi-Demons, which was why Mu Qianqian should not kill him.
Lin Langtian went to check on Lin Dong. However, Qingzhu soon discovered that Teng Cha was already dead, and thus, the trail to the Yi-Demons was lost. Lin Dong cradled his sister in his arms. Qingtan weakly asked if she had been powerful, and Lin Dong lovingly assured her that she was truly the greatest. Yet, Qingtan felt she had been a burden and wished to see Lin Langtian. Fortunately, Lin Langtian arrived just in time.
Qingtan apologized to him, saying she wouldn't be able to keep her promise, and then she passed away. In a fit of grief and anger, Xiao Yan repeatedly struck Lin Langtian, who stood unresponsive, his mind filled with Qingtan's past words and pledges to him. Mu Qianqian intervened, stopping Xiao Yan. Lin Dong, heartbroken, lamented that despite everyone vowing to protect Qingtan, their constant infighting ultimately led to her sacrificing her life to save them all.
Lin Langtian begged Lin Dong to let him take Qingtan away, insisting that she must stay with him, fulfilling their mutual promise. Overwhelmed by sorrow, everyone watched as Lin Langtian carried Qingtan away. Memories of his laughter and conversations with Qingtan flashed through Lin Dong's mind. In his despair, he decided to destroy the Ancestral Talisman.
He remembered his promises to his father that Qingtan would live a life of comfort, but now she was gone, and all his vows felt hollow. Embracing Huanhuan for comfort, Lin Dong confessed the profound loneliness of being a hero. He regretted his choices, believing that if he had never left Qingyang Town, never become the Ancestral Talisman Successor, and never fought the Yi-Demons, Qingtan might still be alive. All he ever wanted was to protect his family, but now, they were all gone.
