Du Lei then admitted he felt ridiculous, realizing his past efforts to break free from his family's constraints were merely a lack of courage to face his true self, which led to his complete downfall. Linda, understanding his pain, advised him to choose a life that made him happy, reminding him that true love means giving someone what they need, not what one presumes they need.
The next morning, Xu Li and Li Xiaochuan excitedly arrived at Jiang Jun and Yuan Shuai's apartment to announce Xu Li's pregnancy. The overjoyed Li Xiaochuan was sent by Jiang Jun to walk their dog, Wealth, with Yuan Shuai so the women could talk privately. As they walked, Li Xiaochuan eagerly suggested baby names like "Li World" and "Li Science," to which Yuan Shuai jokingly replied with an even longer, more ridiculous name.
Li Xiaochuan then pressed Yuan Shuai about his marriage plans with Jiang Jun. Yuan Shuai confessed he had tried to subtly probe Jiang Jun's feelings but sensed she wasn't ready, fearing a direct proposal would pressure her and damage their relationship. However, Li Xiaochuan called him a "wimp," arguing that women are often coy and that such matters should not be delayed, promising his and Xu Li's support. This conversation prompted Yuan Shuai to reconsider. Meanwhile, Jiang Jun and Xu Li discussed the same topic. This inspired Jiang Jun to rethink her approach. The following day, Jiang Jun returned to work at MH, feeling good to be back. Qiao Na welcomed her and took her to "revisit old places," which turned out to be an intern interview session. During a mock scenario where an intern suggested buying stock in Shanhui Pictures based on a proposed acquisition, Jiang Jun astutely countered that the acquisition was likely a fabricated rumor.
She explained it was probably designed to inflate stock prices amid internal power struggles and years of declining profits. After the interviews, Qiao Na mentioned a Mayan proverb about burying a button to return to a place, hinting that Jiang Jun had done something similar to ensure her return to MH. Later, Yuan Shuai noticed Su Chang beaming at his phone and discovered he had successfully proposed.
Su Chang urged Yuan Shuai to propose to Jiang Jun, pointing out how long he'd had the diamond ring. Yuan Shuai admitted his past attempts had all failed for "structural, accidental, planned, and causeless" reasons. Undeterred, Su Chang encouraged him to be decisive and "do something grand." Taking this to heart, Yuan Shuai put a plan into motion.
He called Jiang Jun, fabricating a sudden business trip and asking her to pack his luggage, arranging for Su Chang to drive her. While Jiang Jun was away, Yuan Shuai and his colleagues transformed the office into a romantic proposal venue. Once ready, Qiao Na called Jiang Jun, feigning anger about an urgent document that needed to be brought back to the office immediately. Rushing back, Jiang Jun entered a beautifully decorated office filled with snowflakes and colorful lights.
A large screen played a montage of Yuan Shuai's comically failed proposal attempts, like offering a cake she refused or trying to propose while she slept, only to be kicked. In the video, Yuan Shuai declared to their dog, Wealth, that since surprises didn't work, he would propose directly, vowing to marry Jiang Jun "no matter how many times" it took. Just then, Wealth appeared in a small wedding dress, followed by Yuan Shuai with a bouquet of roses.
Yuan Shuai delivered a heartfelt confession, acknowledging their ten years apart due to a misunderstanding. He said his life felt long without her but short with her, making him fear not having enough time together. He knelt, promising to be her lawful husband and to protect, dote on, and love her for the rest of his life. Deeply moved, Jiang Jun said, "Yes."
Su Chang then appeared with a "lifetime pledge" and a private equity company agreement in Jiang Jun's name. Yuan Shuai explained it was a fallback plan: if she ever left investment banking, he would resign with her to build their own company, with her as the boss. There, they took their marriage photos, and Jiang Jun affectionately called him "husband." Later, Du Lei, dining alone, saw their wedding photos on his phone and gave a faint smile of acceptance. When paying, he realized he'd forgotten his wallet and used WeChat.
