The next day, Yuan Shuai asked Su Chang about Jiang Jun’s whereabouts, only to learn that she had taken the day off.
Before he could even receive a reply to his message checking in on her, he received a distress call from Chenxin Technology. The company was on the verge of a hostile takeover by Defeng Capital. As the project lead, Yuan Shuai had to rush over immediately, ordering Su Chang to scout for companies interested in acquiring Chenxin Technology. Meanwhile, Jiang Jun and Xu Li arrived at a desolate location.
Just as they began doubting the address, Li Xiaochuan and Du Lei appeared. It turned out Li Xiaochuan’s plan for hosting them was an outdoor barbecue at a mountain retreat. Though his idea was wild, the four bonded during the hike, growing closer. Once at the retreat, they busied themselves with setting up tents and preparing the barbecue. Li Xiaochuan reluctantly explained to the group that Yuan Shuai was his cousin. At this, Du Lei’s expression flickered briefly before he composed himself, reassuring everyone. Though she defended him, their father’s harsh words left her drained. Between his temper and Du Lei’s indifference, Linda reminisced about their childhood, when she’d genuinely cared for her stepbrother.
