Light Chaser Rescue Episode 10 Recap
> Light Chaser Rescue Recap
That evening, while Xiong Fei and Da Peng were inspecting the base, Ding Dingding attempted to slip out for some midnight barbecue. Unexpectedly, she overheard Zhou Mingming on a phone call with his mother. From the conversation, Ding Dingding learned that Zhou Mingming had secretly come to participate in the Light Chaser Rescue Team training, having told his family he was studying business administration at a university under Professor Zhang Weilin, the deputy dean of the school of business administration.
Fearing exposure, Zhou Mingming reluctantly offered to treat Ding Dingding to barbecue, and they stealthily left the base together. Meanwhile, Cai Yuxiao, passing by Zhan Yan’s apartment building, saw Luo Ben walking her home. Suppressing his jealousy, he called Zhan Yan to inform her that he had arranged an intensive care ward for Falcon.
Zhan Yan expressed her sincere gratitude but mentioned her upcoming final assessment at the rescue team the next day, which would prevent her from fully caring for Falcon. Cai Yuxiao offered to step in and act as the examiner in her place, which Zhan Yan accepted. After their barbecue, Zhou Mingming and Ding Dingding walked back to the base.
They heard strange noises in the woods, which initially scared Ding Dingding into believing it was a snake, but it turned out to be a large rabbit. Upon their return, they were met by Zhan Qingshan, Xiong Fei, and others, who had been waiting for them. They were promptly ordered to write letters of self-criticism. Ding Dingding attempted to shift all blame onto Zhou Mingming, claiming he lured her.
Their argument was halted by Da Peng, who arrived and took their half-written letters, sending them to bed. Back home, Luo Ben put on headphones, listening to a recording of Zhan Yan singing, a faint smile playing on his lips. Across the room, Luo Yuan was engrossed in her phone, chatting with Xiong Fei, hinting at their growing affection.
Luo Yuan noticed Luo Ben’s happy expression and tried to tease him, but he quickly turned serious and urged her to go to bed. The next day, Cai Yuxiao took over as the examiner for the simulation exercise. The first part of the assessment involved searching for survivors in the shortest possible time after a simulated 7. 5-magnitude earthquake, without any special gear.
Ding Dingding, Chu Weisheng, and Liu Zhen diligently followed the standard operating procedures taught by their instructors, immediately entering the "ruins" to call for survivors and bring them out. Zhou Mingming and Luo Ben, however, demonstrated different approaches. Luo Ben, after observing the environment, quickly identified an aftershock and immediately warned everyone to evacuate.
The results of the first test were clear: Luo Ben scored nine points for his "self-protection" awareness, Zhou Mingming received six points, while Ding Dingding and the others scored zero. Zhan Qingshan emphasized the critical importance of self-protection. He highlighted Luo Ben as the only one who, within a short time, detected the aftershock, demonstrating both self-protection and the ability to protect teammates.
Zhou Mingming, despite knowing about the aftershocks, rushed into the rescue, though he managed to save the "victims" before a subsequent collapse. In contrast, Ding Dingding's group, by prioritizing rescue over assessing their own safety, would have put themselves and others in extreme danger in a real earthquake scenario. Ding Dingding questioned her zero score, arguing that their group "sacrificed themselves for others" and asked for a re-test, but Zhan Qingshan reiterated that "life only once."
The second part of the assessment involved cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which most participants passed. The final and most challenging stage was a simulated highway car accident rescue, where teams of two had to administer first aid to casualties. Zhou Mingming and Ding Dingding were among the first to locate their "patients" (dummies). They used a speaker to ascertain the "injuries" and performed basic bandaging, reaching a passing level.
Luo Ben and his partner, Chen Xing, also located their "patients," which Luo Ben quickly identified as dummies. He adapted to the situation by observing the apparent "injuries" and addressing them as worst-case scenarios, such as treating a head injury as a potential craniocerebral injury. Despite completing the task, Cai Yuxiao marked Luo Ben and Chen Xing as "unqualified," claiming they were the only group who failed to use the speaker to inquire about the "injuries."
Luo Ben adamantly stated he saw no such device, only a dummy, suggesting the "device" had been intentionally hidden by Cai Yuxiao to sabotage him. Luo Ben questioned if Cai Yuxiao was targeting him, to which Cai Yuxiao responded that he was simply adhering to evaluation standards. Luo Ben, who already possessed an emergency paramedic certificate, declared his ability didn't need validation from Cai Yuxiao's scoring. Following the assessment, certificates were distributed to the qualified members.
Ding Dingding, seeing an opportunity, offered to stay at the base to assist with propaganda, suggesting Luo Ben could also serve as a legal adviser for the team. Zhan Qingshan, observing Cai Yuxiao's behavior, seemed to recognize his deliberate targeting of Luo Ben. Later, Xiong Fei and Luo Yuan were out walking Bun-bun, Falcon's dog, enjoying their time together. Upon their return to the base, they ran into Luo Ben.
Luo Ben reiterated his concern, advising Luo Yuan to distance herself from Xiong Fei, stating they were from "different worlds" and reminding her of his promise to their parents to keep her safe. Luo Yuan retorted that Luo Ben was not keeping his promise from their time in Fengxi, where he said she could do whatever she wanted once they were free. Upset, she turned to leave.
Luo Ben pursued her, apologized, and reluctantly agreed to let her join the rescue team if she wished, promising not to interfere in her choices. Luo Yuan finally forgave her brother after he agreed to write down his promise. Meanwhile, Zhan Yan stood by Falcon's hospital bed, a birthday cake beside him, reflecting on how he had been by her side for countless birthdays, serving as a father figure despite not being her biological parent.
Although Falcon had repeatedly asked her to keep his illness a secret from the team, Zhan Yan, after much deliberation, decided to call Zhan Qingshan. Zhan Qingshan promptly visited Falcon at the hospital. Concerned about Falcon's health, Zhan Qingshan initially intended for Da Peng to take over Falcon's responsibilities within the team. However, after much pleading and persuasion from Falcon, who emphasized that the rescue team was "all he had," Zhan Qingshan relented.
He agreed to let Falcon return, on the strict condition that he would not participate in any training or rescue missions. Falcon solemnly promised to abide by the agreement, even stating that if he violated it, he would be like "Bun-bun No. 2."
