Following his confrontation with Su Xieyi, Lin Tai is interrogated by Li Zeliang, who had Ji Yingsong follow and apprehend him. Lin Tai confesses that Huo Jian ordered him to investigate Su Xieyi. Understanding that Lin Tai was coerced due to his father's medical expenses, Li Zeliang provides him with a card containing enough funds to cover the costs. In return, Li Zeliang questions him about Huo Jian's secrets, specifically about someone named "Spider."
Lin Tai reveals he overheard Huo Jian telling Yi Fei to find a "Spider," who was the window cleaner at the hospital where Li Zeliang's father passed away. Ji Yingsong hypothesizes that since internal investigations yielded no clues, the "Spider" might have witnessed something related to Huo Jian from outside. Recognizing the importance of this lead, Li Zeliang immediately dispatches Ji Yingsong to investigate.
Meanwhile, Lin Tai confronts Huo Jian, voicing his suspicion that the search for "Spider" is connected to Mr. Li Senior's death. He then retracts, promising to remain loyal as long as Huo Jian fulfills his promise of payment. Huo Jian agrees, assuring Lin Tai the money will be in his account by the next day.
Shortly after Lin Tai leaves, Huo Jian receives a video showing him removing someone's oxygen mask, accompanied by a chilling message warning him that his secrets will be exposed. Later, Lin Tai is involved in a car accident, with his vehicle plunging into a river. News reports indicate the car was recovered, but the driver was missing. Watching the news, Huo Jian and Yi Fei conclude that someone must have rescued Lin Tai.
It is revealed that Li Zeliang had Ji Yingsong rescue Lin Tai from the crash. After tasking Ji Yingsong with finding the "Spider," Li Zeliang instructs him to take Lin Tai to safety through a back exit. Elsewhere, Oscar tries to console Shi Chuchu, who is upset by Li Zeliang's public announcement of his relationship with Su Xieyi at her family's party. Oscar suggests Li Zeliang must have a reason for his actions and speculates the relationship might be short-lived.
Knowing Su Xieyi is Li Zeliang's weakness, Huo Jian seeks him out at a hotel bar. Huo Jian reveals Su Xieyi's bracelet, which he claims Yi Fei found, and cryptically assures Li Zeliang that "she is perfectly safe right now," subtly threatening her safety to ensure Li Zeliang's cooperation. Concurrently, Su Xieyi awakens in a villa, realizing she is being held captive by Yi Fei, who falsely claims Li Zeliang arranged for her to stay there.
Her phone and bracelet are missing, and Yi Fei refuses to let her contact anyone. Seeking an opportunity to escape, Su Xieyi fakes an escape by opening an upstairs window. When Yi Fei sees the open window and rushes out to search, Su Xieyi, who had been hiding behind a curtain, seizes the moment to call Li Zeliang for help. While this is happening, Huo Jian, suspecting Lin Tai is at the hotel, begins searching the private rooms.
He barges in on Oscar and his girlfriend, but Oscar manages to convince him they are just a couple having a private moment. Just as Huo Jian leaves, Li Zeliang receives Su Xieyi's distress call. He tells a confused Huo Jian that he hasn't found what Huo Jian was looking for, but he has found what "he" was looking for, before abruptly leaving.
Moments later, Huo Jian receives a call from Yi Fei, who profusely apologizes for Su Xieyi's escape, enraging him. Li Zeliang meets Su Xieyi, who recounts her ordeal. He expresses deep remorse for failing to protect her. After she eats, he playfully points out she lost a slipper while escaping. Later, Yi Fei reports to Huo Jian that surveillance footage shows Ji Yingsong with Lin Tai, confirming Li Zeliang orchestrated his rescue.
Huo Jian sees this as a positive development, as it exposes Li Zeliang's true intentions. Li Zeliang brings Su Xieyi to a safer location. Su Xieyi deduces that Huo Jian is the true mastermind behind her kidnapping and the troubles at her family's company, Zhiwei. Li Zeliang confirms her suspicions, explaining he kept it from her to protect her from Huo Jian's ruthlessness.
He reveals his own motive for opposing his uncle: Huo Jian has been secretly using Yunfeng Hotel to embezzle funds and acquire Ocean Group shares, betraying his father's legacy. He then leads Su Xieyi to a hidden passage in his home, which serves as his secret base of operations. He reveals that his apparent physical weakness and disinterest were a facade to lull Huo Jian into a false sense of security.
He returns her bracelet, and they share a tender moment, acknowledging their shared loss of a parent and agreeing to support each other. As they lean in for a kiss, they are interrupted by Ji Yingsong's arrival. Ji Yingsong reports that Lin Tai has been safely relocated. He has also identified the "Spider" as Liu Awei, who disappeared with his family two years ago after working at the hospital.
With Huo Jian also desperately searching for him, his importance is confirmed. Li Zeliang instructs Ji Yingsong to spare no expense in finding him. Acknowledging that the conflict with Huo Jian is now out in the open, Li Zeliang declares that it is time to counterattack, even if it is sooner than planned.
