Following his reunion with Shen Xieqing, Xie Minghao suspects Li Zeliang's involvement in her subsequent disappearance. Li Zeliang, meanwhile, arrives home to an empty apartment. Su Xieyi returns shortly after and confronts him with a video of his meeting with her sister, demanding to know why he lied about meeting a male client. Li Zeliang admits to the meeting, explaining that a recovered Shen Xieqing had primarily inquired about Su Xieyi's well-being and wished for her happiness.
He withholds the details of Shen Xieqing’s role in Zhiwei's downfall, honoring his promise to her to protect Su Xieyi from more pain. He also urgently warns Su Xieyi not to trust Xie Minghao, insisting he is not who he appears to be. Feeling betrayed and unable to trust him, Su Xieyi demands the full story, threatening she will never forgive him otherwise.
She then packs her bags and leaves, devastated that Li Zeliang’s lie cost her a final chance to see her sister. Saddened, Li Zeliang lets her go, believing she needs space to cool down, and resolves to prevent her from further sorrow, even if it means being misunderstood. Oscar visits Li Zeliang and learns that Su Xieyi has left in anger.
After Li Zeliang explains Shen Xieqing's connection to Zhiwei's bankruptcy, Oscar empathizes with his difficult decision to withhold the truth to protect Su Xieyi, given her past trauma. Oscar expresses confidence in Li Zeliang's resilience, comparing him to a "tenacious roach" who always recovers, and encourages him to rest and regain his strength.
Meanwhile, Su Xieyi receives a call from Officer Wang, who informs her that while they have found no trace of Shen Xieqing, the search and rescue efforts are being expanded, offering a sliver of hope. It is revealed that Xie Minghao is holding Shen Xieqing captive. After her meeting with Li Zeliang, she had intended to turn herself in to the police but was intercepted by Xie Minghao.
When she awakens in a secret room, she drops her pretense of disorientation and admits she was going to confess her crimes for her own peace of mind, promising not to implicate him. Xie Minghao, disbelieving, coldly informs her that he has already given Su Xieyi the suicide note Shen Xieqing wrote two years ago, making the world believe she is dead. A flashback reveals that two years prior, Shen Xieqing discovered Xie Minghao had orchestrated Zhiwei's ruin.
He confessed, stating he did it because her father, Shen Zhihong, opposed his love for Su Xieyi, for whom the childhood doll was always intended. The revelation that her father died because of her actions drove Shen Xieqing to a suicide attempt, after which she became mentally unstable. In the present, Xie Minghao demands she provide the login details for a private account, threatening to make Su Xieyi's life a living hell if she refuses or tries to escape.
The next morning, Li Zeliang is about to call in sick for Su Xieyi when she arrives at the office to deliver a revised project draft. Their colleague, Shi Chuchu, senses the tension between them. Su Xieyi reiterates to Li Zeliang that she will not forgive him until he tells her everything. Elsewhere, Xie Minghao coerces a reluctant He Jiahua, who now has a criminal record, to continue his scheme to slander Li Zeliang's company.
Anticipating Xie Minghao's next move, Li Zeliang waits outside Su Xieyi’s new apartment. Xie Minghao arrives to pick her up, attempting to sow further discord by suggesting Li Zeliang is hiding a sinister secret about the meeting. Su Xieyi defends Li Zeliang, stating she doesn't believe he has ill intentions and that his secrecy likely stems from his own concerns. She clarifies her anger is because his lie cost her a final chance to see her sister.
Xie Minghao feigns grief and pleads with Su Xieyi to move in with him so he can care for her, but she politely declines. Later, Li Zeliang confronts Xie Minghao in the parking garage, warning him to stay away from Su Xieyi. Unfazed, Xie Minghao taunts Li Zeliang, revealing he knows Li Zeliang's true feelings are for Su Xieyi and accusing him of hiding the truth for fear of causing her to relapse.
Li Zeliang retorts by accusing Xie Minghao of being K of Spades, vowing that the police will soon expose him. Xie Minghao mockingly reveals that he also lives in the same building, right under Li Zeliang's nose. Following Xie Minghao's instructions, He Jiahua disguises himself as a worker and uses a copied key to enter a warehouse storing insulation materials for Ocean's Lantian Bay project.
He replaces the ventilation fan's connection wire with a counterfeit one designed to overload, which will eventually spark an electrical fire and ignite the flammable insulation boards. Later, Su Xieyi tells Xie Minghao she has agreed to Li Zeliang's advice to have her wisdom tooth extracted. She then casually mentions she has moved in with Li Zeliang. Furious, Xie Minghao silently vows that after the next day, he will make Su Xieyi leave Li Zeliang and return to his side for good.
