Lie to Love Episode 13 Recap
> Lie to Love Recap
Su Xieyi tended to Li Zeliang in the hospital, and despite his protests, insisted on washing his face to reciprocate him drying her hair earlier. While she cared for him, Xie Minghao arrived, having been called by Su Xieyi to bring clothes as she had lost her phone. The nurse noted how well Li Zeliang was recovering, adding that Su Xieyi had been exceptionally devoted, waiting outside the operating room all night and refusing treatment for her own wounds.
As Su Xieyi left to meet Xie Minghao, the nurse teased Li Zeliang for already missing her. Outside, Xie Minghao confirmed that Chen Hengsheng was behind the recent incident and that Su Xieyi had narrowly escaped thanks to Li Zeliang. Expressing concern for her hand injury, he urged her to communicate with him before taking risks, reminding her to consider those who cared for her. He then reiterated his commitment to protect her and to help investigate Chen Hengsheng.
Meanwhile, Roman confronted Huo Jian at Yunfeng Hotel, furious that his wife, Nina, could have been poisoned if Oscar had not drunk the gin and tonic first. He demanded a thorough explanation. Huo Jian offered apologies, promising a full investigation and vowing to punish anyone responsible. He attempted to frame the incident as a misunderstanding, but Roman gave him an ultimatum: provide a satisfactory explanation by 2:00 PM that day, or he would terminate their cooperation.
After Roman departed, Shi Chuchu criticized Huo Jian for giving the impression the poisoning was deliberate before the investigation was complete. Huo Jian retorted that he was merely appeasing Roman and blamed Li Zeliang, the project's person in charge, for disappearing. Shi Chuchu immediately called Ji Yingsong, who was searching for Li Zeliang in the suburbs, and emphasized the critical deadline. Shortly after, Li Zeliang called Ji Yingsong, who informed him of Roman’s ultimatum and the imminent shareholders' meeting.
Understanding the urgency, Li Zeliang decided to return immediately to prevent Huo Jian from distorting the truth. Xie Minghao went to the abandoned factory where Su Xieyi had been held. He was there when Chen Hengsheng arrived, terrified after receiving a call from Li Zeliang, who he believed was still trapped. Xie Minghao confronted him, likening his return to a murderer revisiting a crime scene. Chen Hengsheng claimed he was simply looking for the missing Li Zeliang.
Xie Minghao then revealed his investigation into "Chen Weiran," Chen Hengsheng's son. He presented a graduation photo from a prestigious music academy, noting Chen Weiran's absence and implying his academic and career history were fabricated. He threatened to expose the truth, which would ruin Chen Weiran’s future. Desperate, Chen Hengsheng pleaded with Xie Minghao to spare his son, offering to do anything.
Xie Minghao sternly warned that while he didn't care who else Chen Hengsheng targeted, harming Su Xieyi was unacceptable. He demanded Chen Hengsheng take full responsibility for his actions. Back at the hotel, Huo Jian instructed a subordinate to be ready to reveal Su Xieyi’s supposed true identity at the shareholders' meeting. In the meeting, the board criticized Li Zeliang, and Yi Fei presented a report concluding the poisoning was intentional.
She claimed surveillance showed only Su Xieyi touching the drink, making her the prime suspect with Mrs. Roman as the target. Shi Chuchu countered, questioning how they could convict Su Xieyi in her absence and arguing that, as Li Zeliang’s girlfriend, she had no motive. As Huo Jian prepared to reveal Su Xieyi's "other identity," Li Zeliang arrived, announcing Su Xieyi would clarify everything herself.
Su Xieyi explained that the lemon she used had been poisoned by Chen Hengsheng before she mixed the drink. She presented Oscar’s guitar pick, which had turned black after he used the poisoned lemon to clean it. She recounted how she and Li Zeliang followed Chen Hengsheng when he tried to dispose of the evidence, only to be trapped by him in a warehouse. Li Zeliang added they had narrowly escaped.
When some board members remained skeptical, Xie Minghao entered with Chen Hengsheng, who immediately confessed to poisoning the drink. He stated his target was Mrs. Roman, and his goal was to sabotage the auction and frame Li Zeliang. When Shi Chuchu pressed him to name his backer, Chen Hengsheng, under a threatening glare from Huo Jian, insisted he acted alone, claiming his position at the hotel was threatened by Li Zeliang's return.
He admitted to trapping them but denied intending to harm them. Li Zeliang denounced his actions and instructed Huo Jian to hand him over to the police, vowing to see the auction through. After the meeting, as Roman prepared to file a lawsuit, Li Zeliang explained that Oscar’s collapse was due to food poisoning from expired food, not a deliberate attack. Roman, whose main goal was for the auction to proceed, accepted this explanation and agreed to continue the cooperation.
Later, Shi Chuchu confronted Li Zeliang, certain Huo Jian was the true mastermind. She asked about the "other identity" of Su Xieyi that Huo Jian had mentioned. Li Zeliang dismissed it as an attempt to undermine him. Shi Chuchu warned him that continuing his "act" with Su Xieyi was dangerous and suggested that separating from her would be the best choice.
Li Zeliang thanked her for her concern, assuring her they would make mature decisions, and asked for her help in issuing a final statement after Chen Hengsheng's conviction. Separately, Su Xieyi asked Ji Yingsong for the contact information of Li Zeliang's doctor. She explained that his leg was inflamed and, feeling guilty because he was injured while protecting her, she wanted to learn how to care for him better. Meanwhile, Li Zeliang revealed his master plan to a subordinate.
He confirmed that Chen Hengsheng taking the fall was too easy for Huo Jian. He then revealed that the "artworks" Huo Jian had acquired for the hotel years ago were actually fakes. Huo Jian had convinced Li Zeliang's father to purchase them, pocketing the funds himself. Li Zeliang's aggressive pursuit of the auction was a strategic move to exhibit these fakes, knowing the art experts present would expose Huo Jian's fraud and ruin his reputation. He instructed his subordinate to ensure the counterfeits arrived at the venue the next day.
