Legend of Fei Episode 1 Recap
> Legend of Fei Recap
During the Northern and Southern Dynasties period, wars were constant. Li Zheng, in order to protect the innocent people in the midst of war, established a stronghold in the Hunan area, composed of forty-eight martial arts sects. After years of rest and recuperation, the forty-eight strongholds were already filled with talented individuals and were thriving. The forty-eight strongholds were isolated from the outside world by the Washing Ink River, which was already a natural barrier difficult to cross.
Coupled with Yu Lao's array defense, anyone who attempted to trespass into the stronghold invariably met their demise. When the array was activated, several rocks would appear in the river, connected by numerous fish lines invisible to the naked eye. Contact with them would instantly sever flesh and blood. Inside the forty-eight strongholds, young disciples gathered at the martial arts arena, shouting encouragement for those currently competing. One of the competitors was Li Sheng, the elder's direct nephew.
His martial arts were considered excellent within the stronghold, but he was not seen as the most outstanding by everyone. As others discussed, a woman wearing simple, sturdy attire passed by, carrying a wine pot. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, looking capable and efficient. This person was Zhou Fei, daughter of the elder Li Jinrong.
Although Li Sheng was competing, upon hearing the discussions of others, he insisted on competing with Zhou Fei to see who was superior, and even intentionally shattered the wine pot in her hand. Zhou Fei maintained an indifferent expression throughout, but when she drew her saber to fight, her demeanor changed completely. Zhou Fei's saber techniques flowed like water, and she later deliberately restrained her opponent's movements, ending the match in a draw.
The outcome of their relative skills was immediately clear. Li Sheng was young and hot-blooded. Even though Zhou Fei verbally conceded defeat, he was naturally unwilling to accept such a result. His persistence caused Zhou Fei to lose patience for further entanglement. Li Sheng would always blame Zhou Fei whenever he got into trouble. This was also the case this time when he damaged the teacher's steps. Zhou Fei felt indignant but seemed to have already grown accustomed to it.
Just as the two of them were entangled, Yu Lao watched dozens of black-clothed figures appear, all perishing in the array. He couldn't help but mock them in his heart. However, a young man suddenly appeared. Using a leaf as a medium, he landed on the fish lines, using them as stepping stones, displaying impressive lightness skill.
Although the young man, like the previous intruders, wore tight black clothes, he did not cover his face and seemed not to care about his identity being exposed. Yu Lao initially intended to use his fishing rod as a weapon to stop the young man, but it instead became the young man's final stepping stone, allowing him to successfully sneak into the stronghold's forest. His figure instantly disappeared into the forest.
Seeing this, Yu Lao immediately sent a signal into the sky. Li Jinrong and Ma Jili instantly arranged countermeasures. To prevent the enemy from drawing the tiger out of the mountain, Li Sheng led a team of people to guard the outer mountain. Zhou Fei saw a large flock of birds and beasts flying out from deep within the forest, confirming the intruder's hiding place.
Ignoring Li Sheng's concern and attempts to stop her, she increased her speed and rushed to the restricted forest area. Within the restricted forest area, countless fish lines similar to those in the Washing Ink River were spread out. Zhou Fei ignored everything else and entered deep into the forest alone. Just as she almost accidentally touched a fish line due to a moment of carelessness, the trespassing young man luckily intervened to save her.
Like Zhou Fei, the young man's hair was tied in a ponytail, but his forehead bangs added a touch of youthfulness and casualness. His speech also showed the vitality appropriate for his age. Li Sheng watched as Zhou Fei rushed in, while he was blocked outside the forest by the fish lines. Just as he was feeling anxious and helpless, the black-clothed young man, who had exchanged a few moves with Zhou Fei, leaped past Li Sheng's eyes.
Li Sheng attacked as Zhou Fei shouted instructions but was no match for him, and could only watch as the young man's figure disappeared into the forest again. Inside the Elder's Hall, Li Jinrong did not blame Li Sheng and Zhou Fei for being defeated by the intruder. Instead, she scolded her daughter for being nosy. After the outsiders left, Li Jinrong's husband, Zhou Yitang, offered words of comfort.
He had always trusted Zhou Fei's resilient character and her ability to handle matters with proper measure. However, Li Jinrong cared more about Li Sheng, worrying that his mind was too preoccupied with various thoughts, making him unfit to be the family head. She did not know that Li Sheng was standing outside the door at that moment, hearing everything clearly.
Li Sheng returned home, and after saying goodbye to his sister Li Yan, he attempted to force his way out of the forty-eight strongholds through the array on the Washing Ink River. Those who had tried to break out before had all ended up being caught and severely punished. Li Yan naturally worried and tried to stop him but was tied up tightly by Li Sheng and thrown onto the bed.
Zhou Fei learned of Li Yan's frantic plea for help and immediately chased after Li Sheng to the Washing Ink River. The sun had long set, and the Washing Ink River water was different from the daytime. The array changed constantly using the Bagua method. Li Sheng saw Zhou Fei come to rescue him and get trapped alongside him.
Although their relationship on the surface was not harmonious, the affection between them as childhood companions was not fake in the least. In their current life-or-death situation, Li Sheng naturally felt overwhelming guilt. The two of them couldn't withstand the changes of the array and were clearly about to run out of strength to resist. The young man, who had been hidden in the trees by the riverbank resting, finally could not watch idly and thus reappeared to rescue them.
However, Zhou Fei simply couldn't understand his hints about the Bagua positions, forcing him to personally assist. When the array changed again, the three of them were trapped by fish lines interwoven like a fishing net, but then the array suddenly stopped. It was due to Li Yan seeking help from Li Jinrong again that the three of them did not lose their lives there. The young man was surrounded on the spot but showed no sign of panic.
Instead, he easily recognized the schools of martial arts that Yu Lao and Li Jinrong belonged to, and then frankly revealed his name and purpose. It turned out the young man was Xie Yun, and he had come this time to find Gan Tang Gong. This made Li Jinrong become vigilant. Li Jinrong guessed instantly that he was sent by Wang Lin. She seemed to have a grudge against Wang Lin.
However, in consideration of Xie Yun's act of rescue, she proposed that if he exchanged Wang Lin's An Ping Token, she would let bygones be bygones. The An Ping Token was entrusted to Xie Yun by Wang Lin before his death, so Xie Yun naturally wouldn't hand it over. With swift movements, he escaped using his lightness skill.
Because Zhou Fei intentionally injured Li Sheng, causing Li Jinrong to lose the opportunity to pursue, she was actually publicly whipped and punished by her own mother for collaborating with the enemy.
