Dr. Ding stresses the critical importance of an athlete's psychological health, warning that an unaddressed hidden illness could have severe, lifelong repercussions, especially with the Olympic qualifier drawing near. She advises that Shen Qingyuan must first acknowledge his psychological challenges and actively pursue professional treatment.
Dr. Ding urges Tang Xin to have a frank conversation with him to alleviate his immediate distress. At the shooting range, Shen Qingyuan is engrossed in his training. His teammates note his intense focus, describing him as a "walking zombie" despite his injury. While pumping air into his pistol for an unusually long time, his teammates notice and ask if the air bottle is leaking.
Shen Qingyuan confirms it is, but dismisses it as a minor issue with a broken seal ring. Tang Liqi offers to help Tang Xin film, but she declines, instead asking him to persuade Shen Qingyuan to avoid over-training. In his thoughts, Shen Qingyuan realizes his subconscious affections were rooted in guilt towards Tang Xin.
She attempts to talk to him, explaining she was rescued by the police and unharmed after the incident, while he was the one injured in a car accident trying to protect her. However, Shen Qingyuan coldly dismisses her, asking her to leave and stating that since no contract has been signed, he has no obligation to cooperate with her. While others go for a meal, Shen Qingyuan remains fixated on training.
Tang Xin brings him food and poses a riddle about why one would look back when the target is ten meters ahead, subtly suggesting he should not dwell on the past. In response, Shen Qingyuan reveals that years ago, he was kidnapped. Though he was not physically harmed, the experience left him with an intense fear of intimacy with women, leading him to believe he is responsible for Tang Xin's suffering.
Later, Tang Xin talks to her pet hedgehog, Jujube, admitting her anger at Shen Qingyuan's coldness but also her deep empathy for his pain. Recalling their shared dreams, she reaffirms her unwavering commitment to stand by him until he recovers. The final assessment match begins. Tang Xin, serving as the live streamer, is too distracted to focus. Shen Qingyuan's colleagues also note his strange behavior, such as firing a trial shot without loading a pellet.
As the match starts, Tang Xin detects an odd sound from Shen Qingyuan's pistol, but Tang Liqi, whom she asks about it, dismisses her concerns. Suddenly, Xu Dian arrives and deliberately positions himself near Tang Xin, ensuring Shen Qingyuan can see him. Overwhelmed by traumatic memories of his kidnapping, Shen Qingyuan's concentration shatters, causing him to fire an off-target shot—an unprecedented mistake in his career. Moments later, Xu Dian seizes Tang Xin's arm and confesses his affection for her.
Witnessing this, a distraught Shen Qingyuan abruptly abandons the match and rushes out. Tang Xin finds Shen Qingyuan sitting alone, consumed by despair. She holds his hand, assuring him she is fine and that his absence years ago was due to his car accident. However, Shen Qingyuan, unable to forgive himself, claims he saw a photo of the accident scene which showed no cash, proving to him that he fled and never intended to save her or retrieve any money.
Tang Xin vehemently refutes his self-condemnation, insisting he doesn't remember the past clearly and that there was no cash at the scene to begin with. Later, Shi Xiaoci finds Tang Xin crying alone. Tang Xin confides that Shen Qingyuan believes he abandoned her and has now left. When asked what she would do if he had truly abandoned her back then, Tang Xin tearfully admits she could never stop loving him.
Satisfied, Shi Xiaoci comforts her, asserting that Shen Qingyuan would never truly leave her. Meanwhile, Tang Liqi and his teammates suspect foul play is behind Shen Qingyuan's breakdown. Jiang Yitian reveals he overheard Zhou Yue mention a "skeleton in the closet" to Shen Qingyuan, after which his behavior changed. They decide to investigate Zhou Yue.
Recalling that Zhou Yue went to the locker room upon returning to the base one night, they stage a fake fight with the Southeast team over stolen wallets to create a diversion. During the chaos, they search Zhou Yue's locker and discover a receipt from the "Gulf One Hotel," leading Tang Liqi to deduce that Zhou Yue secretly met with Xu Dian.
