Go Ahead Episode 25 Recap
> Go Ahead Recap
He Ziqiu recalled that before He Mei left for Shenzhen years ago, she bought him a hamburger. He Mei didn’t marry Li Haichao because there was no love between them, but He Ziqiu really liked Li Haichao’s family. He Mei told He Ziqiu to listen to his grandmother at home and promised to come back for him once she had made enough money. He Ziqiu’s grandmother, hearing this from the side, was filled with anger.
In her heart, she wanted He Mei to marry Li Haichao and settle down, but He Mei was determined to leave. After saying goodbye to the two of them, she walked away without looking back. After much thought, He Ziqiu decided to take Ling Xiao’s advice and go find He Mei. However, He Mei wasn’t at the beauty salon.
He Ziqiu left his address with the staff and asked her to pass it on to He Mei, saying he wanted to meet her. Li Jianjian secretly bought sibling-themed manga. While she was opening the package at the studio, Du Juan rushed in excitedly. Flustered, Li Jianjian shoved the manga into the drawer but accidentally dropped one volume, which she had to leave on the chair.
Du Juan told Li Jianjian that an international company was interested in the derivative rights for her award-winning work Three Childhood Mates. The company's representative would visit in a few days to discuss the deal. If they could secure the partnership, they would earn royalties for each sale. Li Jianjian was overjoyed and forgot about the book under her seat.
Du Juan picked it up out of curiosity and teased Li Jianjian, saying she wasn’t in the right mindset to read such comics and should focus on her competition piece. But Li Jianjian was struggling with a lack of inspiration. After she left, Zhou Miao grew concerned that once the studio started making money, Li Jianjian might split up with Du Juan. Du Juan, however, trusted that Li Jianjian wasn’t that kind of person—her mind was set on creation.
With Du Juan handling the studio’s daily operations and each of them having their own responsibilities, Zhou Miao was still uneasy and suggested a contract between them. Du Juan refused and told him to stop bringing it up, leaving Zhou Miao no choice but to drop the issue. At noon, Ling Xiao suddenly came to the studio to take Li Jianjian out for lunch. He introduced himself to Du Juan and said he’d treat her to a meal next time.
Before eating, Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian went to buy a new phone. On the way, Ling Xiao tried to hold her hand. Though Li Jianjian felt awkward, she remembered they used to hold hands often and took his hand. After changing to his new phone, Ling Xiao finally saw a message from Qi Mingyue. Qi Mingyue confessed that she saw him kiss Li Jianjian and misunderstood the situation.
She asked him to wait until she moved out before making his relationship with Li Jianjian public, to save her some dignity. Seeing Qi Mingyue’s message left Li Jianjian feeling conflicted—she blamed Ling Xiao for dragging her into this mess. Li Jianjian called and messaged Qi Mingyue, but got no response. She had no choice but to go wait downstairs at Qi Mingyue’s place.
Qi Mingyue didn’t want to respond at first, but when she heard Li Jianjian cry out in pain after kneeling on a stone from numb legs, she instinctively turned back and helped her. While applying ointment to Li Jianjian’s leg, Qi Mingyue realized Li Jianjian had seen her message to Ling Xiao and got upset. She felt like a fool, thinking that Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian were laughing at her behind her back.
No matter how Li Jianjian explained, Qi Mingyue wouldn’t listen. When she learned that He Ziqiu also liked Li Jianjian, Qi Mingyue felt even more that Li Jianjian was flaunting. Angered, Li Jianjian quarreled with Qi Mingyue, and the two parted on bad terms. Tang Can went to play mahjong with Zhuang Bei’s mother again and even brought her a necklace.
Zhuang Bei’s mother enjoyed playing and became closer with Tang Can, showing concern for her and suggesting she try other jobs. Embarrassed, Tang Can explained that she was an actress, and this was just a way to experience life. She mentioned some of her past dramas and commercials, which Zhuang Bei’s mother vaguely remembered. After keeping her company, Zhuang Bei came to pick Tang Can up for dinner.
After they ate, Zhuang Bei wanted to see Qi Mingyue, so he sent Tang Can home and made an excuse about writing a case when he found out Qi Mingyue wasn’t there. Back at home, Tang Can found Li Jianjian lying on the couch crying. He Ziqiu had been distracted all day. Just before closing, He Mei finally arrived, and the two of them met again.
He Mei, knowing Zhao Huaguang’s character, guessed that He Ziqiu must have escaped on his own since Zhao wouldn’t let him leave easily. He Ziqiu didn’t want to talk about Zhao Huaguang and simply said Zhao couldn’t control him anymore. He Ziqiu wanted closure. He asked why, after telling him she’d come back once she settled down in Shenzhen, she later wrote a letter saying she didn’t want him anymore.
He Mei admitted she had underestimated how hard life in Shenzhen would be—she couldn’t even support herself, let alone raise a child. Abandoning He Ziqiu, in her mind, was for the best. Holding back tears, He Ziqiu said he was now an adult with people who mattered to him. Since He Mei didn’t raise him then, he wouldn’t support her in the future. He Mei told him not to worry—she had her son and didn’t need his help.
He Ziqiu returned the makeup mirror with her photo and said he was grateful she gave birth to him, but from now on, they should consider each other strangers. Just as he was about to leave, He Mei stopped him and said he could still come to her if he ever needed help, but He Ziqiu refused.
