Nan Ke, the demon princess, reported to the black-robed figure that the Zhou Garden key was likely in Chen Changsheng's possession at the National Academy. The black-robed figure cautioned her against returning to the National Academy due to concerns about Tianhai's vigilance, but vowed to personally intervene to seize Chen Changsheng once he left the academy. Soon after, a messenger delivered a letter to Chen Changsheng, ostensibly from Xu Yourong, inviting him to a meeting outside the city.

Chen Changsheng arrived at the designated meeting place, Three Lives Riverside, where he was confronted by Nan Ke. She questioned his affection for Xu Yourong and then revealed the meeting was an illusion, a trap set by the black-robed figure. The black-robed figure appeared, demanding the Zhou Garden key from Chen Changsheng. Despite Chen Changsheng's denial and refusal to surrender anything to the demon race, the black-robed figure insisted.

Realizing he was outmatched, Chen Changsheng invoked the "Six Ding Six Jia, teleport underground!" technique to escape. Undeterred, the black-robed figure used his spiritual power to lock onto Chen Changsheng's presence, confident he would not get far. During his escape, Chen Changsheng encountered Xu Yourong, who was also pursuing Nan Ke. Recognizing she was injured, Chen Changsheng offered her a Taiqing Pill, which she accepted.

He explained the ambush by the black-robed figure, who was after the Zhou Garden key, and urged her to leave. However, Xu Yourong refused, insisting they face the danger together. They decided to hide using Chen Changsheng's "Small Heavenly Cycle Concealment Formation," which could "block the six senses and conceal the soul," though Chen Changsheng admitted his thick-skinned master taught him the technique.

Despite Chen Changsheng's confidence, Xu Yourong expressed concern that the black-robed figure, a master of formations, might see through it. Soon after, the black-robed figure discovered them, remarking on his good fortune at finding "buy one, get one free." They continued their desperate escape. Meanwhile, Xuanyuan Po inadvertently revealed to Luoluo that Chen Changsheng had gone to Three Lives Riverside to meet Xu Yourong, based on the message from the "Holy Maiden."

Tang Sanshiliu also heard this and deemed it suspicious. Mo Yu initially found the idea of Chen Changsheng and Xu Yourong meeting impossible, but quickly realized it must be a trap and that Chen Changsheng was in danger. They identified the powerful energy at the scene as belonging to the demon race, specifically linked to the National Academy key incident, suggesting it was an act of revenge.

Despite the grave danger, Tang Sanshiliu remained optimistic about Chen Changsheng's cleverness, and they decided to search for him. Simultaneously, Qiushan Jun, guided by a junior who had witnessed Chen Changsheng heading towards Three Lives Riverside to meet Xu Yourong, also approached the scene. Exhausted but safe for the moment, Xu Yourong and Chen Changsheng discussed the black-robed figure's powerful "Demonic Sound Barrier" and his mysterious "Floating Cloud Shadow technique."

Chen Changsheng resolved to provoke the black-robed figure into fully displaying his powers to uncover a weakness. The sound barrier's immense power also drew the attention of Mo Yu and Tang Sanshiliu. Tang Sanshiliu suggested that such a technique must consume great power, offering an opportunity to intervene. According to their plan, Xu Yourong confronted the black-robed figure, and a fierce battle ensued. Xu Yourong, however, was no match and was struck, but Chen Changsheng quickly intervened to catch her.

As the fight escalated, Chen Changsheng identified the weakness in the "Demonic Sound Barrier." He revealed that the black-robed figure was using the "Wei Kingdom's Ceremonial Chant," an ancient battle song of loyalty and bravery. Chen Changsheng explained that within the Divine Capital, the heroic spirits of the Great Zhou's fallen warriors, who died fighting demons, would turn against the black-robed figure due to his demonic affiliation. Channeling these heroic spirits, Chen Changsheng succeeded in thwarting the black-robed figure.

After the battle, Chen Changsheng used a Wind-Seeking Crane that had fallen from Xu Yourong to confirm her identity as "Little Rong." He then recounted her various preferences, from her love of fish and dislike of meat, to her fondness for spring and playing the xun. Overwhelmed, Xu Yourong arranged to meet him at Naihe Bridge later that night.

Their reunion was cut short by the boisterous arrival of Luoluo, followed by Tang Sanshiliu, Mo Yu, and to Chen Changsheng's surprise, Qiushan Jun, creating a momentarily awkward atmosphere. Later that peaceful night, Xu Yourong arrived at the bridge. Hearing the familiar melody of the xun played by Chen Changsheng, she felt a fleeting desire to escape, but his clear gaze calmed her. It was then that she fully comprehended his impending death.

Perhaps to offer him hope, or to give herself a reason, Xu Yourong informed him that if he still wished to annul their engagement, he must first win the Grand Examination and successfully change his fate, after which they could reconsider.

The next day, driven by his concern for Zhusha, Chen Changsheng thoroughly consumed Xuanyuan Po's culinary creations and then generously bought expensive blue lobsters from the Western Continent and Mountain Sea Crabs for a grand feast, using Tang Sanshiliu's funds, all for his new "family member" in the well. However, when he returned to the well, he found it completely frozen, covered in ice. Remembering Zhusha's words about being imprisoned under the North New Bridge, Chen Changsheng sought information.

After inquiring from various sources, he learned from Xu Yourong that the "North New Bridge" was, in fact, a well. Delighted by this discovery, Chen Changsheng immediately rushed to the well and, without hesitation, leaped into its depths. Luoluo, who had been following him, was terrified, mistakenly believing her master was attempting to end his life. That courageous leap allowed Chen Changsheng to successfully reach the Little Black Dragon.

He affectionately named her Zhusha and presented her with the abundant seafood he had "raided" from Xuanyuan Po and Tang Sanshiliu. Zhusha, a small girl rather than a fearsome dragon, happily devoured the food, her eyes narrowed into slits. Up above, a tearful Luoluo, still convinced Chen Changsheng was in peril, frantically called Xuanyuan Po and Tang Sanshiliu to the well, urging them to rescue her master.

Taking inspiration from Chen Changsheng, Luoluo mustered her courage and jumped into the well. There, she discovered the seemingly fierce dragon was a sweet young girl, Zhusha, who had been trapped for countless years after losing her father and being manipulated by the black-robed figure. The two girls, both spirited, innocent, food-loving, and a little headstrong, quickly bonded.

As the Green Vine Banquet approached, Chen Changsheng cultivated even more diligently, not wishing to bring shame to his sect at such a grand event. Equally diligent in his cultivation was Qiushan Jun, the eldest disciple of the Lishan Sect, blessed with the Heavenly Dragon bloodline. Qiushan Jun's achievements already surpassed those of many, yet he remained humble and never slackened in his martial arts training.

However, he was unaware that the Lishan Sect Master and elders had, on their own initiative, decided to send his junior brother Gou Hanshi and junior sister Qijian, bearing betrothal gifts, to the Divine Capital to propose marriage to Xu Yourong. What he knew even less was that the activated demonic seed would soon be planted within him, destined to distance him from Xu Yourong and lead him astray from the righteous path of the world.

Xu Weixin of the Divine Capital, learning of the Lishan Sect's intention to propose marriage, solidified his resolve to eliminate Chen Changsheng. However, he knew he couldn't act rashly, fearing unfavorable consequences if the Pope or Xu Yourong found out. Yet, he was unwilling to let Chen Changsheng go. The cunning and despicable Xu Weixin devised a plan to use Tianhai Ya'er to get rid of Chen Changsheng.

The impulsive Tianhai Ya'er, easily provoked by a few words from Xu Weixin, readily agreed to eliminate Chen Changsheng. The Holy Empress also learned of the Lishan Sect's plan to propose marriage for Qiushan Jun to Xu Yourong. Before that, she wished to understand Xu Yourong's thoughts and specifically summoned her to the palace. As expected, upon hearing of Qiushan Jun's proposal, Xu Yourong refused almost without hesitation.

Though resolute in her will, she was completely unaware that her parents were already consumed by greed and ambition. Gou Hanshi, accompanied by his fellow disciples, walked through the streets of the Divine Capital. As disciples of a renowned sect and ranked among the top ten on the Azure Cloud List, their presence always caused a considerable stir. However, their prominence irked the disciples of the Heavenly Dao Academy.

Zhuang Huanyu, also among the top ten on the Azure Cloud List, directly blocked Gou Hanshi's path, challenging him to a duel. Gou Hanshi initially intended to retreat strategically, but Zhuang Huanyu pressed aggressively. At this moment, Guan Feibai suddenly intervened, catching Zhuang Huanyu off guard. Despite his lingering resentment, Zhuang Huanyu had no face to continue blocking Gou Hanshi and his group.

That evening, Chen Changsheng once again visited the Imperial Library, playing the 'Song of Farewell' taught to him by Ji Dao Ren. However, a strange phenomenon occurred: the notes of Ji Dao Ren's 'Song of Farewell' appeared on the walls of the library. Seeing the familiar handwriting, Chen Changsheng had a bold guess: perhaps Ji Dao Ren was Shang Xingzhou, the former Dean of the National Academy?

Before Chen Changsheng could verify his hypothesis by consulting historical records, assassins dispatched by Tianhai Ya'er had already infiltrated, planning to assassinate Chen Changsheng. At a critical moment, Luoluo arrived just in time to intercept the assassins. While Luoluo battled the assassins, the Pope used a spell to take Chen Changsheng away. The Pope, originally worried about potential incidents before the Green Vine Banquet and wanting to caution Chen Changsheng, inadvertently saved his life.

This Green Vine Banquet was not just a selection of talent but also a competition among elites. Regardless of human or demon, righteous or evil, all would seize this opportunity to either rise to prominence, achieve fame, or silently fade into oblivion, leaving no trace. Later, Tang Sanshiliu showed Chen Changsheng and Xuanyuan Po rubbings of mysterious patterns from stone tablets he had found. Xuanyuan Po comically described them as tangled and mating earthworms. Chen Changsheng, however, identified the symbols as variants of ancient seal script.
