Heavenly Maid threw Ning Que off the cliff. As he repeatedly attempted to climb up the steep precipice, only to fall back down each time, Sangsang, who was nearby, became furious. She warned Heavenly Maid that if her young master died, she would take her own life instantly, which would prevent Heavenly Maid from ever becoming whole again.

Heavenly Maid, unperturbed, declared her intention to thoroughly purify Sangsang, making her forget Ning Que and ensuring Sangsang would be entirely hers, no longer caring for Ning Que's life or death. Despite the danger and numerous falls, Ning Que persisted in his climb. Heavenly Maid, observing his struggle, eventually decided to allow him a chance. With immense effort, Ning Que finally scaled the cliff face and reached Hall of Light.

Inside Hall of Light, Ning Que discovered Chen Pipi, who was confined in a secluded chamber. Chen Pipi, seeing Ning Que climb up, mistakenly believed he had come to rescue him and was moved to tears. Ning Que had to confess that his true mission was to find Sangsang. He explained that his ultimate goal was to keep Heavenly Maid in the human world, a strategic objective set forth by Sage.

Ning Que then revealed the Academy's comprehensive plan for the war between heaven and man, detailing that the first battle would take place right there, in Hall of Light, with the primary aim of preventing Heavenly Maid from ascending back to heaven. Chen Pipi, in turn, disclosed that he had been chosen as the Envoy of Light, an act he worried would make him an unwitting accomplice to Heavenly Maid's ascension and a pawn in a larger conflict with Sage.

He expressed concern that Ning Que's intervention would put his life at risk, but Ning Que firmly believed Sangsang would never allow him to be harmed. Chen Pipi also questioned if Ning Que had snuck out without the knowledge of Slow Li and Jun Mo, but Ning Que dismissed the idea. Meanwhile, Xiong Chumo reported his own scheme to Heavenly Maid.

He proposed sending a letter to Slow Li, inviting him to the Light Conference and specifically mentioning Chen Pipi's role as the Envoy of Light. Xiong Chumo was convinced that this news would draw Ning Que and other Academy members to Peach Hill, allowing them to be captured or eliminated. Heavenly Maid, growing impatient with these "trifles," dismissed him, instructing him to carry out his plan as he saw fit.

As Xiong Chumo was leaving, Sangsang, speaking through Heavenly Maid, suddenly ordered him to prepare a bowl of spicy and sour noodle soup. Xiong Chumo, unsure what this "food" was, promised to investigate and comply. In the kitchen, Ning Que volunteered to make the spicy and sour noodle soup. He was certain that Heavenly Maid was indeed Sangsang, as only Sangsang would specifically request that dish.

He quickly prepared it, meticulously adding thirty pieces of chopped green onion and four prickly ash. As Ning Que was about to deliver the soup, Long Qing intercepted him, insisting on bringing it to Heavenly Maid himself. Long Qing then presented the soup to Heavenly Maid, falsely claiming he had personally prepared the "human delicacy" as a token of his unwavering loyalty and reverence. However, Sangsang, speaking through Heavenly Maid, immediately recognized the deception.

She reminded Heavenly Maid that Long Qing had once tried to kill her, and then directly told Long Qing that she did not want to see him again, forcing him to leave. Ning Que, observing from a distance, wondered if Sangsang truly hadn't recognized Long Qing. After Long Qing was gone, Sangsang joyfully confirmed that the spicy and sour noodle soup was indeed made by Ning Que, recognizing his unique touches and taste.

She found Long Qing's attempt to take credit for the soup utterly foolish. Elsewhere, Chao Xiaoshu had made his way to Song State, where he established a calligraphy and painting shop. He intentionally sought out the Drinker and the Butcher, engaging them in a poetry duel without revealing his true intentions. The two old men, surprised by a newcomer in their stagnant town after so long, grew suspicious.

The Butcher, examining Chao Xiaoshu's hands, discerned that he was once a swordsman, while the Drinker noticed a peculiar scent about him. However, finding no cultivation in Chao Xiaoshu, their guard eventually lowered. They contemplated that perhaps Chao Xiaoshu had an interesting past story, even if he might have been a bandit or a wanderer. The Drinker found the prospect of having a new drinking companion quite appealing, despite the Butcher's warnings about the dangers of such curiosity.

Later that night, Ning Que returned to the secluded chamber to update Chen Pipi on the day's events. Just then, Long Qing arrived to speak with Chen Pipi, startling Ning Que, who quickly hid on the cliff face outside. Long Qing expressed his surprise that Chen Pipi had been chosen as the glorious Envoy of Light by Heavenly Maid, sarcastically calling him a "fat dude" and a "loser."

Chen Pipi retorted, questioning why Long Qing's father, Chen Mou, would have such an unfilial son as Long Qing. Long Qing then claimed his father, Chen Mou, was in a very bad state, even worse than an ordinary person, and needed care. He presented this as a reason for wanting to enter Zhishou Temple and care for his father, seeking Chen Pipi's help to gain entry.

Chen Pipi, seeing through Long Qing's manipulative intentions, initially refused to believe Chen Mou was in such a dire condition, reminding Long Qing that his father was the revered master of Zhishou Temple and did not need his care. He also scorned Long Qing's prior failed attempts to enter the temple.

After some hesitation and Long Qing revealing that Chen Mou was severely injured in Tang State, losing all his cultivation, Chen Pipi reluctantly shared the secret method to enter Zhishou Temple: "Seven in and thirteen out," explaining it meant "knowing its progress, defending its retreat, advancing by retreating." Long Qing then left, telling Chen Pipi to stay fat and eat more. After Long Qing departed, Ning Que reappeared from his hiding spot, resuming his conversation with Chen Pipi.

Chen Pipi suddenly realized the implications of being named Envoy of Light. He understood that Heavenly Maid knew Ning Que and the Academy would come to rescue him, effectively making him a "bait" to lure them into a trap for a complete capture. Terrified, Chen Pipi urged Ning Que to flee, emphasizing Ning Que's life was more important and that fighting Heavenly Maid was different from fighting humans.

Ning Que, however, refused to abandon him, telling Chen Pipi to stay safe and well-fed, and then departed. Back at the Academy, Mu You had prepared a self-heating hotpot, which the other disciples enjoyed, praising her cooking and Chen Pipi's invention. Jun Mo then announced two important updates: first, Chao Xiaoshu had successfully approached the Drinker and the Butcher in Song State; second, Chen Pipi had been made the Envoy of Light by West Shrine.

The news of Chen Pipi's capture sparked outrage, with all the disciples demanding to go rescue him. Jun Mo explained that this was a trap set by West Shrine to endanger the Academy, and it shouldn't disrupt their overall strategic plan or Ning Que's mission in West Shrine. He questioned who was suitable for such a dangerous rescue. Then, Tang Xiaotang stepped forward, volunteering to go to West Shrine, and openly declared her love for Chen Pipi.

Yu Lian, her master, supported her decision, believing that courage and determination, not just strength, were needed to defy Heavenly Will, and that Tang Xiaotang possessed the resolve to save Chen Pipi. Jun Mo reluctantly agreed, cautioning Tang Xiaotang to remain calm amidst the dangers. Yu Lian gave Tang Xiaotang the clan's knife and instructed her to follow Chen Pipi's lead once they reunited. Tang Xiaotang, expressing gratitude to her masters and uncles, then set off for West Shrine.

Meanwhile, Long Qing arrived at Zhishou Temple to meet Chen Mou, expressing a desire to stay and care for him alongside his "Uncle Yi Chen." Chen Mou, however, was deeply disappointed, noting Long Qing's diminished ambition and fearlessness. He reminded Long Qing of his past ruthlessness, even towards his "half-master" Half-waist Taoist Priest. Chen Mou encouraged Long Qing to rekindle his original ambition to achieve greatness.

He then tasked Long Qing with rescuing Chen Pipi, explaining that this would prevent Heavenly Maid from returning to heaven and foil the Light Conference. Chen Mou promised Long Qing extraordinary power if he succeeded. He then seized Long Qing's natal object, promising to return it only after the task was completed.

Chen Mou acknowledged Long Qing's reluctance to return to Zhishou Temple but assured him that completing this mission would fulfill his deepest desires, hinting at a greater future for Long Qing. Chen Mou later confided to another disciple that he had long intended to thwart Heavenly Maid's ascension. He reasoned that Heavenly Maid, having come to the human world, could no longer sever her earthly attachments, especially her emotions for Ning Que.

Therefore, she was no longer the Heavenly Maid they once believed in, and her inability to return to heaven was inevitable. Chen Mou decided that if Heavenly Maid could not cut off these ties herself, Zhishou Temple would help her—or, if necessary, eliminate her along with her earthly attachments.

Ning Que, still pondering Sangsang's actions, questioned why she would use Chen Pipi as bait to lure him, especially since Chen Pipi had once saved his life when he was gravely injured by Great Sword Master Yan Suqing. He recalled Sangsang's past words, acknowledging that both he and Sangsang owed Chen Pipi a life debt. He found it incomprehensible why Sangsang, as Heavenly Maid, seemed to forget these profound human connections, lamenting her apparent uselessness in severing such ties. He pondered whether he was useless, and if Sangsang was truly the Heavenly Maid.
