Upon taking her seat, Xia Tian immediately demanded the latest war reports from the Military Department, questioning why everyone was standing idly when Tang State faced grave danger. Zeng Jing then approached Li Hupo, requesting an imperial decree regarding the disposition of the captured Imperial Guards who had defected. Meanwhile, ever since Li Hunyuan's death, Li Yu had been drowning her sorrows in alcohol.

Hua Shanyue, deeply concerned, snatched the wine bottle from her, imploring her to let go of her obsession and take care of herself. However, Li Yu was unreceptive, telling Hua Shanyue she didn't need his advice and asserting that everyone has their obsessions, including him. Hua Shanyue confessed that Li Yu herself was his lifelong obsession, and all he desired was her safety and happiness.

Li Yu vehemently responded, asking how she could be happy when her brother was dead, and if he expected her to pretend nothing had happened. Hua Shanyue tried to console her, reminding her that "what's gone is gone" and offering to take her away from her troubles. But Li Yu, furious, ordered her guards to throw him out. Hua Shanyue was distraught, calling out to her as he was forcibly removed.

Word reached Chongming that Ning Que had killed Li Hunyuan and placed Li Yu under house arrest in the princess's mansion. He was outraged by Ning Que's actions, condemning the Tang people for allowing such behavior. He then learned that Long Qing's advance had stalled due to fierce resistance from Tang forces. Realizing Long Qing might be in trouble, Chongming decided to lead his troops to reinforce Long Qing, hoping to simultaneously reach the Capital and rescue Li Yu.

Meanwhile, Ning Que ordered all sharp objects removed from Li Yu's residence, fearing she might harm herself. Li Yu, however, saw this as an insult, despite Ning Que's explanation that he simply wanted to ensure her safety. He told her that her survival was the best news for Tang State at this critical time. Li Yu countered, asking if her quiet death wouldn't be better news for Xia Tian, and accused Ning Que of conspiring with Xia Tian.

Ning Que clarified that their goal was to stabilize Tang State, and her continued existence would reassure loyal ministers and the army, thus ensuring efficient execution of government decrees. He asserted that as the guardian of the God-Startling Formation, entrusted to him by the late Emperor, he had the authority to make decisions concerning the Li family's lives. Li Yu indignantly questioned his right to dispose of Tang royalty, reminding him that the Li family had ruled Tang for generations.

She condemned Xia Tian as a remnant of the Demonic Cult and derided her son, Li Hupo, for aspiring to the throne. Ning Que reiterated that he protected the entire Tang State, not just the Li royal family, and defended Xia Tian by stating that the Sage chose the former King of Tang, who in turn chose Xia Tian, which is why he trusted her.

Li Yu accused him of not understanding her pain, claiming she had sacrificed much for Tang, unlike Xia Tian who received everything and gave little. She felt that her contributions as a member of the Li royal family were overlooked in favor of a Demonic Cult remnant. Ning Que then firmly instructed the guards and maids to care for Li Yu, ensuring she received food and water, but strictly forbidding her from leaving the room.

He warned them that if any harm came to her, they would be held accountable. Upon learning that Ning Que had allied with Xia Tian, the Demonic Cult remnant, to dethrone Li Hunyuan and enthrone Li Hupo, Xiong Chumo declared that Tang State's internal strife was heaven's will and unstoppable.

He ordered the assembled West Shrine Cavalry, led by High Priest of Jurisdiction Ye Hongyu and Cavalry Commander Luo Kedi, to march the following day to Qingxia in Tang State, commencing their crusade. Both Ye Hongyu and Luo Kedi reluctantly accepted their commands, and Ye Qing watched from afar as they departed. Meanwhile, Cheng Lixue brought medicine to the ailing High Priest of Oracle, who believed his fate was sealed regardless of medication.

Cheng Lixue reported on the situation between Tang State and West Shrine, noting that Ning Que had returned to the Capital and the Academy was preparing to fully defend the God-Startling Formation, Tang State's last defense line. Cheng Lixue expressed concern that without the Sage's guidance and with Li Hupo's youth, the God-Startling Formation's power might be compromised, asking if the High Priest believed Tang State would truly fall.

The High Priest vaguely sensed that one person could save Tang State but confessed that he could not distinguish between Sang Sang and the Heavenly Maid, nor could he discern her identity or destination. In reality, Sang Sang had fully merged with the Heavenly Maid, becoming inseparable like light and shadow. The Heavenly Maid found herself unable to shed Sang Sang, as the Sage had imbued her with Sang Sang's essence.

Sang Sang declared that as long as she wished to remain in the mortal world, the Heavenly Maid would be bound to it, unable to return to heaven. She asserted that she was the "humanity" the Sage had instilled in the Heavenly Maid, and if the Heavenly Maid couldn't rid herself of this humanity, she would weaken and eventually be replaced by Sang Sang, just as Sang Sang was originally replaced.

This sparked a fierce argument, with the Heavenly Maid claiming no one could replace her as the daughter of god, and Sang Sang countering that she, as the Daughter of the Lord of the Deceased, also could not be replaced. Slow Li learned that Xiong Chumo planned to kill Mo Shanshan as a sacrificial flag before the crusade. He sent Chen Pipi to rescue her from the Hidden Boudoir.

Chen Pipi, after knocking out the guards, was spotted by Ye Qing, who dismissed him but allowed him to proceed, joking that since it was Slow Li's concern (Mo Shanshan being Slow Li's sworn sister), it wasn't his business. Inside the Hidden Boudoir, Chen Pipi urged Mo Shanshan to leave, explaining Ning Que's situation in Tang State, now surrounded by enemies, and encouraging her to assist him as the guardian of the God-Startling Formation.

Chen Pipi admitted that he was there because he knew Mo Shanshan would want to help Ning Que and Tang State. He attempted several times to break the Great Barrier of Confinement of the Hidden Boudoir, but to no avail. Mo Shanshan then offered to try herself, revealing she had cultivated significantly during her confinement. With their combined efforts, the barrier was finally broken.

Just as they opened the way, Ye Hongyu and Lu Chenjia arrived, also intending to rescue Mo Shanshan. Seeing that Chen Pipi had already succeeded, Ye Hongyu quickly led them away from Peach Mountain, reminding them that the Hierarch would soon discover the broken formation. After their escape, Lu Chenjia declared her intention to return to Chaoyang City, the capital of Yuelun State.

Mo Shanshan urged her to release her emotional attachments and obsessions, reminding her that darkness is temporary and light will always prevail if one holds onto faith. However, Lu Chenjia admitted that letting go of Long Qing was easier said than done. Ye Hongyu scoffed at Lu Chenjia's lingering feelings. Mo Shanshan expressed her hope that the "Three Addicts" would reunite when peace reigned and the Hidden Boudoir bloomed with flowers.

They bid each other farewell and went their separate ways. Chen Pipi, witnessing their bond, was deeply moved to tears, and Ye Qing, who had just caught up, playfully teased him about crying. Xiong Chumo soon learned that Chen Pipi had helped Mo Shanshan and Lu Chenjia escape. He deduced that only someone powerful, beyond the Stage of All-Knowing, could have assisted in breaking the Great Barrier of Confinement.

Realizing Chen Pipi, the son of the Zhishou Temple Master, had recently returned to Zhishou Temple from the Academy, Xiong Chumo saw an opportunity. He summoned Chen Pipi, demanding that he retrieve the formation key from the Academy. Chen Pipi feigned ignorance, claiming to know nothing about a "key." Xiong Chumo warned him against playing dumb, but Chen Pipi confidently asserted that his father, Chen Mou, the Master of Zhishou Temple, would protect him.

Xiong Chumo then tried to coerce Chen Pipi into accompanying him to bid farewell to the soon-to-be-destroyed Tang State. Chen Pipi scornfully rejected the idea, declaring that Tang would not fall and that he sided with the Academy, which stood for reason. Enraged, Xiong Chumo attacked Chen Pipi, tormenting him until he cried out for help. Ye Qing intervened, engaging Xiong Chumo in a fierce, evenly matched duel. Suddenly, Chen Mou appeared.

Xiong Chumo, acknowledging Chen Mou's presence, quickly retreated with his men, but not before vowing to meet Chen Mou again in the Tang Capital. Ye Qing then took Chen Pipi back to Zhishou Temple. Chen Mou analyzed the current situation, concluding that the entire crusade against Tang State hinged on the Capital, which in turn depended on the Academy. With the Sage gone, the key figure at the Academy was now Slow Li.

Though Ye Qing offered to divert Slow Li, Chen Mou stated that Ye Qing could not defeat him, as Slow Li was the only one in their generation to achieve the Stage of No-Distance. Chen Mou decided to confront Slow Li himself and instead sent Ye Qing to Qingxia. He explained that Qingxia was a crucial strategic pass, as important as the Capital, where Tang and the Academy would surely station strong forces to impede West Shrine's army.

Recognizing the danger, he acknowledged that Ye Hongyu would need Ye Qing's assistance there. As punishment, Chen Mou ordered Chen Pipi to kneel outside in reflection. Chen Pipi, still kneeling, desperately pleaded with his father to spare Tang State. He spoke of his many years in the Academy, witnessing the beauty and hospitality of Tang, its prosperous agriculture and booming markets, believing it to be an ideal nation.

He mentioned how his fellow disciples, from all corners of the world, had also come to regard themselves as Tang people due to the strong sense of camaraderie and belonging they felt. Chen Pipi argued that while Tang might have made some mistakes, they were not grave enough to warrant its destruction, and that the "fighting against Tang State" was a long-planned conspiracy by West Shrine, warning of a potential catastrophe if they succeeded.

However, Chen Mou remained unmoved, chastising his son. He declared that it was not West Shrine but "Heaven" itself that sought Tang's destruction, asserting that no mortal could defy heaven's will—those who follow prosper, and those who resist perish. He stated that if Chen Pipi couldn't grasp this principle, he was unworthy of being his son, then departed. Ye Qing, bidding farewell to his master, also left for Qingxia.
