Arsenal Military Academy Episode 17 Recap
> Arsenal Military Academy Recap
Gu Yanzhen repeatedly stated that he did not kill anyone, and Lin Xianwei and others also insisted they did not know Gu Yanzhen. However, the prison guards determined that Gu Yanzhen was the leader of the anti-Japanese students. Chief Song Maogong ordered Gu Yanzhen to be held and interrogated separately. Xie Xiang desperately tried to stop them, but Gu Yanzhen was still taken away.
Oda Hiroshi came to find Song Maogong overnight and told him to kill all the detained students. Song Maogong hesitated, so Oda Hiroshi threatened the lives of his family, forcing Song Maogong to get rid of the students within 24 hours. Gu Yanzhen bribed the prison guard with his watch, falsely claiming he needed to go to the restroom, and tricked the guard into opening the cell door.
Gu Yanzhen seized the opportunity to hold the guard hostage, knocked him unconscious, and changed into his clothes. Xie Xiang asked Lin Xianwei about the process of their arrest and only then learned that they returned to China to protest the humiliating treaty, the "Twenty-One Demands," signed between the government and Japan. However, the news was leaked unexpectedly, and many students were assassinated and framed. Only a few of them were left and also arrested.
Just then, Gu Yanzhen, disguised as a prison guard, tried to help Xie Xiang and Lin Xianwei open the cell door. Before he could open the door, a prison guard patrolled to that spot. Xie Xiang told Gu Yanzhen to escape first, and Gu Yanzhen had no choice but to leave the police station overnight. Gu Zongtang learned that Gu Yanzhen had been arrested and came overnight to find Song Maogong to release him.
Unexpectedly, Gu Yanzhen had already knocked out a prison guard and escaped. Gu Zongtang learned that Gu Yanzhen had returned home, so he rushed back to question him. Gu Yanzhen insisted on going to rescue Xie Xiang and Lin Xianwei and others, and was severely reprimanded by Gu Zongtang. Gu Yanzhen was very disappointed with the corrupt government and defiantly wanted to rescue them himself.
In a fit of anger, Gu Zongtang knocked him unconscious and told the butler to buy the nearest train ticket back to Nanjing. Gu Yanzhen woke up groggily and found himself on a train heading to Nanjing. The butler guarded him closely, but Gu Yanzhen insisted on going back to rescue them. The butler explained the stakes to him, reminding him not to implicate Gu Zongtang, lest he be used by people with ulterior motives.
The butler sent people to keep a close watch on Gu Yanzhen and forbid him from acting rashly. Gu Yanzhen was worried about Xie Xiang, so he could only jump off the train and escape to go back and rescue them. Under pressure, Song Maogong took Xie Xiang, Lin Xianwei, Lu Yong, and all the others onto a prison van early in the morning and drove them away. Gu Yanzhen hid to the side and saw everything clearly.
He rode a motorcycle to take a shortcut and chase after them. The prison van reached halfway and found the road ahead blocked by many stones. The police quickly got out to see what was happening. Song Maogong sent the police to clear the stones. Xie Xiang seized the opportunity to untie the ropes on her hands and also helped Lin Xianwei and Lu Yong untie themselves. Gu Yanzhen hid in the woods on the mountain and closely watched everything.
Song Maogong quickly got out of the car and threatened and intimidated Xie Xiang and Lin Xianwei. The road was quickly cleared. Song Maogong suddenly discovered that Xie Xiang and the others had untied their ropes and immediately fired a warning shot. Xie Xiang grabbed a gun and fought back desperately.
Chen Rong, Lu Yong, and Lin Xianwei also grabbed guns and joined the fight, but they were all students with no combat experience and were all killed by the police. Before he died, Lin Xianwei handed the blood-written protest letter hidden in his arms to Xie Xiang. Song Maogong led the police to surround Xie Xiang. At this critical moment, Gu Yanzhen arrived in time on his motorcycle, killed Song Maogong and all the police officers, and rescued Xie Xiang.
Xie Xiang was unconscious due to excessive grief. Gu Yanzhen carried Xie Xiang home on his back. Gu Zongtang was furious and condemned him for implicating the whole family just to save Xie Xiang. Gu Zongtang promised to properly settle Xie Xiang and told Gu Yanzhen and the butler to return to Nanjing. He had no choice but to comply. Gu Zongtang sent someone to send Xie Xiang home. Xie Xiang finally woke up.
She thought of the tragic deaths of Lin Xianwei and her classmates and couldn't get over it for a long time. She unhesitatingly joined the student protest march against the government and Japan signing the unequal treaty. The police rushed to maintain order and drew their guns on the students. Xie Xiang was fearless and stood at the very front of the march. The police swarmed them, beating and kicking them.
Xie Xiang and the protesting students were thrown into prison. Xie Zhipèi used his connections to rescue Xie Xiang overnight, forbidding her from leaving the house. Coupled with her mother's persistent pleading, Xie Xiang remembered her brother Xie Liangchen's ideals and beliefs before he died, and left home overnight to return to Arsenal Military Academy. Gu Yanzhen was dejected after returning to his grandfather's home in Nanjing.
Old Master Gu was also disappointed with the government's cowardly and compromising behavior, but he was worried that the students might act impulsively, so he told the butler to keep a close watch on their every move. Old Master Gu negotiated with the Japanese and managed to rescue the remaining students studying in Japan, but they had to return to Japan.
