> Legend of Zang Hai Recap

After Kuai Duo found the Gui Seal, she risked her life to rush back to the capital and hand it over to the emperor. The emperor wanted to reward her for her service, but Kuai Duo used her declining health as an excuse to resign, saying she wanted to return to her hometown with her husband and child to spend her remaining years in peace. The emperor feared Kuai Duo might reveal how he obtained the Gui Seal.

AD

Kuai Duo had come straight to him from Dongxia without meeting anyone else or returning home. The emperor specially approved her retirement, but that very night, Kuai Duo’s entire family was wiped out. Zang Hai told the emperor in detail about the murders of his parents and sister. The emperor was furious and clenched his teeth in anger. Sun Defang led a team to the Cao residence overnight.

Cao Jingxian had been dead for four or five days, and his body was already decomposing. All the imperial agents in the residence had also been killed. Sun Defang immediately reported this to the emperor. Zang Hai suspected that all of this was done by the third culprit behind his family’s massacre. Cao Jingxian, knowing he was doomed, had handed the Gui Seal over to his partner—the third person.

The emperor ordered Zang Hai to retrieve the Gui Seal and bestowed upon him a Severing Traitor Sword, allowing him to strike down his enemy at any time. Zang Hai took the opportunity to plead for Xiang Antu, and the emperor agreed to release her. Zang Hai went to the prison to retrieve Xiang Antu. Gao Ming, Guan Feng, and Shi Lei had been waiting outside for a long time.

Gao Ming was still brooding over Zang Hai leaving without a word and, in a fit of anger, slapped him hard. Zang Hai didn’t want to explain much and simply brought Xiang Antu home, even giving her his own bedroom. Xiang Antu reproached Zang Hai for taking such a risk for her, but Zang Hai said he was willing. When the Eighth Prince heard that Xiang Antu had been rescued, she immediately came to Zang’s residence to visit her.

Gao Ming was upset that Zang Hai had gone to the palace alone to confess to the emperor and spoke harshly to him. Zang Hai tried hard to make peace, but Gao Ming wouldn’t forgive him. Zang Hai knelt and apologized, promising not to take such risks again. Gao Ming, heartbroken, reminded him to live well so he could care for him in his old age.

Guan Feng was delighted to hear that Liu Chu would also be moving into Zang’s residence. Gao Ming personally cooked a large meal, with each dish hinting at Zang Hai’s ingratitude. Liu Chu soon arrived to welcome Xiang Antu, bringing her some rouge and powder, encouraging her to move on from her grief. Liu Chu noticed Gao Ming’s sour mood and forced him to smile. His forced smile looked worse than crying, making everyone burst into laughter.

They drank and feasted happily, enjoying a joyous reunion meal. After the meal, Zang Hai remained heavy-hearted. Xiang Antu noticed something was bothering him and accompanied him to admire the moon. Zang Hai wanted to find the third culprit as soon as possible. Xiang Antu promised to help him. Zang Hai didn’t want her to take risks, but Xiang Antu was willing to share his burdens. Zang Hai planned to start by investigating Cao Jingxian to uncover the third enemy.

Xiang Antu hoped that once Zang Hai’s revenge was complete, they could leave everything behind and travel far away together. After the banquet, everyone dispersed, leaving only Liu Chu and Gao Ming drinking together. Emboldened by alcohol, Gao Ming confessed his feelings to Liu Chu, but she evaded the topic. Zang Hai and Lord Zuo carefully inspected the Cao residence.

They found that the imperial agents had twisted expressions and dirt between their fingers, concluding that they had been poisoned and their bodies moved indoors afterward. Zang Hai carefully counted the agents but found that only Lu Yan’s body was missing, and Shi Quan had also disappeared. Zang Hai asked Lord Zuo to help investigate. The emperor had given Zang Hai a Severing Traitor Sword.

He planned to begin his investigation with the Inner Cabinet, so Gao Ming took him to see his masked master. Zang Hai intended to start by investigating the Inner Cabinet’s chief advisor, Shi Yiping. The masked master removed his mask on the spot—Zang Hai was shocked to discover it was Zhao Bingwen.
