Zhao Xiaolei relayed Lin Hao’s message, assuring Xia Yan that he would always be by her side, regardless of her decision on marriage, which deeply touched Xia Yan. She reflected on their seven-year relationship, feeling they were already like a married couple, needing only a marriage certificate.
She vowed to commit herself to Lin Hao, but also felt driven to work hard to ensure a stable and happy future for their potential children. Meanwhile, at SG Technology, Xu Chengyi suggested to Director Xue that Xia Yan’s proposal to rebrand "internet celebrities" as "experts" for wider appeal was a strong idea, a suggestion that only deepened Director Xue’s animosity towards Xia Yan.
During a subsequent meeting, it was revealed that five top influencers, who had only verbally agreed to participate, were now demanding a 50% increase in commission due to a conflicting event, threatening to withdraw if their demands weren’t met. Xia Yan attempted to explain the last-minute nature of the problem, but Director Xue cut her off, assigning her full responsibility for the talent show coordinating team and tasking her with resolving the crisis. At home, Zhao Xiaolei’s younger brother, Xiao Jun, arrived unexpectedly, looking for work. Zhao Xiaolei tried to explain Lin Hao's professional background and the company's offer of an apartment. Xia Yan achieved a significant breakthrough by securing a partnership with NetEase Music for the "Show Me" talent show.
She proposed them as joint producers, highlighting their shared goals of supporting original musicians and young talent. NetEase Music agreed to provide all music and promotional resources, including song authorizations, which would save SG Technology substantial costs. Director Xue, impressed by this financial advantage, approved the collaboration. Back home, Xia Yan confided in her friends about the difficulties at work, specifically mentioning a "picky female director" and a "male boss who acts weird," often making flirtatious comments.
Her friends immediately suspected "office sexual harassment," warning her of its potential escalation and offering to intervene. Zhao Xiaolei told her friends that her parents had arranged a blind date, explaining her desire to settle down due to parental pressure and their health. Han Shuang advised against marrying for her parents, but Zhao Xiaolei saw marriage as a natural life stage. Xu Chengyi, likely sensing her flirtatious intentions and connecting them to Xia Yan's previous comments, simply declared, "I'm not interested," and exited the elevator. Zhao Xiaolei went on a second blind date, meeting a man who looked older. He introduced himself as a friend covering for the original date, Zhang Lian Chun.
He carried an unpublished book that Zhao Xiaolei had been searching for. He gifted her the book, and they spent the afternoon engrossed in reading. He then formally introduced himself as Fei Tianming, and she as Zhao Xiaolei, clarifying the specific Chinese character for "Xiao" in her name. Noticing her love for reading, Fei Tianming recommended a nearby book bar that stocked out-of-print books, describing its owner as either "silly or an idealist."
Lin Hao brought Xiao Jun to his company for a job interview with a colleague, "Brother Zhang." Brother Zhang was highly critical of Xiao Jun, calling him "dumb," unprepared, and lacking qualifications, initially refusing to hire him for a sales agent position. The tense interview was interrupted by the arrival of President Chen and President Hao (Hao Jie).
Lin Hao was visibly uncomfortable, as Hao Jie was his former boss and was now there to discuss a business deal, specifically requesting Lin Hao to be in charge. Hao Jie observed Xiao Jun, commenting that he seemed smart, "like Lin Hao back then," and subtly pressured Brother Zhang by offering to take Xiao Jun herself if they wouldn't hire him. Brother Zhang immediately conceded, stating they "must hire someone President Hao likes."
Later, a delighted Xiao Jun arrived at Lin Hao's office with his new work card, full of enthusiasm. He pledged to work hard, aiming for a promotion and an office next to Lin Hao, affectionately calling Lin Hao his "real brother" who treated him better than his own family.
