Hei Fengxi, burdened with worries and with no one to confide in, could only find a moment of peace while worshiping his mother in the ancestral hall. The few words he spoke were filled with genuine emotion. Ever since the passing of the former queen, the Second Prince Feng Lanxi had been like a drifting duckweed without roots. Yet he refused to go with the flow and fought to attain his current position, despite often feeling exhausted and lonely.

Fortunately, he met Bai Fengxi, in whom he saw a reflection of the former queen, and she became his only motivation to carry on. The next morning, Madam Baili ordered a wedding robe to be sent to Feng Chang. Her intentions were clear, but Feng Chang had no interest in the marriage. After all, an ill-fitting robe could be altered, but forcing a union without mutual affection only brought discomfort.

Realizing that someone was still scheming against him from behind the scenes, he couldn't help but feel disheartened by the cruelty. Feeling increasingly stifled, Feng Chang decided to stroll alone through the marketplace, where he happened to run into Bai Fengxi. Discovering that she belonged to a sect, he greatly admired the freedom they enjoyed and yearned for life in the martial world.

Bai Fengxi advised him not to overly dwell on it, warning that although life in the pugilistic world was alluring, it was also extremely dangerous. Upon learning that he was being forced into marriage, she shared her perspective, inspiring him. On the memorial day of the former queen, the Lord of Yongzhou and Hei Fengxi, among others, paid tribute through song and ritual.

Yet instead of being grateful, she grew increasingly greedy for power.

It seemed she had sat on the phoenix throne for too long and had forgotten her place. The Lord of Yongzhou had doted on Madam Baili for over twenty years out of pity for all the grievances she had suffered. Thus, he had turned a blind eye to her repeated meddling in court affairs. But her ambitions only grew; she had always plotted to secure the title of Hereditary Prince for Feng Chang.

Perhaps she was eagerly hoping for the Lord’s early demise. She ignored all his previous warnings, and he was fully aware that she was the mastermind behind the civil exam fraud and the military horse scandal. Unable to endure any longer, he placed her under house arrest for thirty days in a fit of rage.

Considering that Huan Niang had served him faithfully for many years, Hei Fengxi expressed that if she had someone she cared for, she could regain her freedom at any time. Upon hearing this, Huan Niang immediately knelt and declared that she wished only to remain in the residence and serve the Second Prince for the rest of her life, which left Hei Fengxi feeling emotionally conflicted.

With nothing to do in the evening, Bai Fengxi took her fellow disciples out for a stroll. Bai Langhua, ever gossipy, questioned the nature of her relationship with Hei Fengxi, insisting that the way he looked at her was full of affection. Bai Fengxi stubbornly denied it, claiming they were merely close friends, but Bai Langhua was far from convinced. At that moment, Bai Fengxi suddenly noticed Yu Wuyuan not far away.

However, since her junior disciples were around, she chose not to engage. Yu Wuyuan had come to Yongjing to deliver a mission for the leader of Duanhun Sect. Now that he had obtained the supreme artifacts from the four major sects, he no longer cared about the casualties Duanhun Sect suffered. After all, it had always been a puppet of Qiong Qiong Juxu.

Yet since Lanyin Jade Moon was now in the hands of Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi, Yu Wuyuan had no choice but to stay in Yongjing a while longer. Even though Madam Baili was confined to the tower, she showed no sign of remorse. Her lowly background as a cloth seller’s daughter made her loathe to acknowledge it. Knowing that his elder brother’s marriage was approaching, Hei Fengxi wrote a letter and sent it to Feng Chang, advising him to follow his heart.

If he truly wished to marry Qi Cheng, he could still use some strategies to ensure a harmonious union. Feng Chang, recalling Bai Fengxi’s advice, went to visit his mother, Madam Baili. When she deliberately exposed her wounded wrist to elicit pity, he only grew more repulsed. On the spot, he rejected the marriage and refused to follow her arrangements anymore. To his surprise, Madam Baili revealed her true face, attempting to sow discord between Feng Chang and Feng Lanxi.

She even threatened to expose Feng Chang’s epilepsy to ruin his reputation in court if he refused to marry Qi Cheng. On the other hand, if he complied, she promised no more trouble in the future. Feeling coerced and furious, Feng Chang returned to his residence alone, drowning his sorrows in alcohol. Uncle De looked on with deep concern. Bai Jiande, knowing Hei Fengxi’s true identity, was eager to leverage the Fountain Abode to investigate the Empyrean Token.

He proactively requested a meeting with Hei Fengxi and asked him to find out who was using a fake token to plunge the world into chaos. Hei Fengxi agreed without hesitation and later went to see Bai Fengxi, saying that the world ought to be peaceful, and he hoped that ordinary, unarmed people could live better lives amidst the warmth of everyday life.

Elsewhere, Yu Wuyuan believed that to obtain Lanyin Jade Moon, he had to create the right opportunity—waiting until Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi joined forces. He instructed the leader of Duanhun Sect to closely monitor them without making any mistakes. Through Bai Fengxi, Hei Fengxi learned that Yu Wuyuan had arrived in Yongjing and was shocked that Fountain Abode had failed to detect it.

He ordered Zhongli to track Yu Wuyuan’s movements and was informed that the Grand Prince had submitted a marriage request. Hei Fengxi assumed his brother had grown disappointed in him and was unaware that Feng Chang had been coerced by Madam Baili. Princess Hua Chunran of Youzhou, upon hearing that her father planned to choose a husband for her, calmly suggested that it would be better to hold a public selection.

She then ordered an investigation into who had advised the King of Youzhou. Meanwhile, Feng Chang submitted a formal marriage proposal to his father, expressing his sincere desire to marry Qi Cheng. The Lord of Yongzhou was overjoyed and immediately instructed the Imperial Astrologer to match their birth charts. If no major issues were found, a formal betrothal would be arranged, and the imperial edict of marriage would be granted on New Year's Day.
