Who Rules The World Episode 11 Recap
> Who Rules The World Recap
A group of men in black were ordered to assassinate Bai Fengxi. However, before they could exchange more than a few blows, Hei Fengxi appeared, forcing them to retreat. Observing their moves, Bai Fengxi determined they were not from the Duanhun Sect. As for why they were trying to kill her, she could not figure it out. Hei Fengxi promised to investigate the matter thoroughly. Meanwhile, Feng Chang flew into a rage upon hearing that the assassination had failed.
The problem, however, lay in Bai Fengxi's formidable martial skills—and the fact that Feng Lanxi of Yongzhou seemed to be on friendly terms with her, which greatly puzzled him. After calming down, Feng Chang decided to personally lead a siege to eliminate Bai Fengxi, leaving her no chance to survive. Seeing how resolute Feng Chang was, De Shu couldn’t help recalling the suffering Feng Chang had endured in childhood.
He silently sighed that even after more than twenty years, the former queen still remained ruthless and refused to acknowledge the first prince. Bai Fengxi followed Hei Fengxi to Ruyuxuan for a drink and was relieved to hear that he had sent people to investigate her master’s whereabouts. While she was eating in peace, a bug landed on her shoulder.
Hei Fengxi was just about to catch it when Bai Fengxi instinctively grabbed his hand, making him blush and his heart race. Embarrassed, he quickly made an excuse and left. Because she had teased Hei Fengxi, Bai Fengxi was in a rather good mood. But on her way home, she once again encountered those men in black. Not wanting to fight with them again, she was irritated by their relentless pursuit.
Just then, she ran into Feng Chang in a narrow alley and found him strangely familiar. Feng Chang silently clenched the dagger hidden in his sleeve, ready to strike. Unexpectedly, Bai Fengxi suddenly claimed she didn’t recognize him at all. So Feng Chang decided to wait and see if she was truly clueless or merely pretending. In fact, Bai Fengxi had already figured out that Feng Chang wanted to silence her over his hidden illness.
If she were alone in Yongjing, she wouldn’t have cared, but since her junior brothers and sisters were also here, she didn’t want to stir up trouble. During morning court, under the recommendation of the royal minister, the Lord of Yongzhou assigned Feng Ju to attend the Liuhe Banquet in the Imperial Capital. After the court session ended, Feng Qiwu reported the details of the imperial examination to Hei Fengxi and handed over a list of tribute scholars.
Among them, three were talents recommended by the Grand Academician Pei Youshuo. Since Hei Fengxi had already been granted a noble title, he would naturally need more of his own people in court. As for Feng Shiying, whom Hei Fengxi was particularly concerned about, she was already part of the Feng family and would surely support him. The Ren brothers had investigated Bai Fengxi’s movements after arriving in Yongjing, including what had happened at Ruyuxuan.
It seemed to involve both Feng Qiwu and the first prince, Feng Chang. That day, Feng Chang was still tailing Bai Fengxi, which caught her attention. Seizing a clever idea, she handed him a bun, which happened to remind him of pleasant memories of the late queen, momentarily leaving him dazed.
Now the Lord of Yongzhou had decreed that the imperial examination be held on the ninth day of this month, to be supervised jointly by Duke Yan Shizhang of Liang and Pei Youshuo. The meaning behind this was clear—after all, Duke Yan’s daughter was the female official from the Baili family, and everyone knew that this official, Yan Niang, would eventually marry the third prince, Feng Ju.
In truth, whether it was the Feng family or Pei Youshuo’s matters, Hei Fengxi had never intended to hide anything from his father. It just felt suspicious that Madam Baili wanted Feng Ju to leave Yongjing at such a time. So he instructed Ren Rusong to warn Feng Qiwu that this examination must be handled with utmost care—no mistakes could be allowed. After two encounters, Feng Chang still couldn’t determine whether Bai Fengxi was feigning ignorance.
He had De Shu rent a nearby courtyard to keep an eye on her at all times. Meanwhile, Huang Chao was heading to the Liuhe Banquet carrying the Empyrean Token. But outside the capital, twenty li away, he was attacked. Emperor Chunxi ordered General Dongshu Fang of Dadong to lead his men to rescue him—but they arrived too late. Upon hearing the news, Hei Fengxi believed the Empyrean Token was a fake anyway.
Even if Huang Chao brought it back, he likely wouldn't be able to explain himself. It would’ve been better for it to be “lost” on the road. This made it highly probable that Huang Chao staged the entire incident. It also made Hei Fengxi suspect that the Emperor’s decree would be difficult to enforce in the six provinces. He lamented that with Yu Wuyuan assisting him, Huang Chao was like a tiger with wings.
Just as Hei Fengxi expected, when Huang Chao entered the palace to meet Emperor Chunxi, the hereditary princes of the other five provinces, fearing implication, all rushed to distance themselves and prove their innocence. In the end, Huang Chao volunteered to make amends. Emperor Chunxi ordered the six provinces to assist Huang Chao in investigating the matter and personally bestowed upon him the imperial sword to enforce the decree. Yu Wuyuan advised Huang Chao to prevent Jizhou from suffering disaster.
The plan was for the Empyrean Token to be stolen by people from the martial world. But now, Huang Chao unexpectedly had Lin Lancang pose as an assassin, even dragging Yu Wuyuan into the scheme. Although Yu Wuyuan did not want the six provinces to fall into chaos over the Empyrean Token, that outcome was now inevitable. Since Huang Chao had received the Emperor’s decree, it would be easier for him to act in the future.
Despite still being upset, Yu Wuyuan agreed to accompany Huang Chao to the six provinces, but insisted on visiting Misty Mountain first. Before the imperial examination, the royal minister introduced the tribute scholar Song Sihan to Madam Baili. He was their chosen grand gift for the second prince. On the day of the exam, Grand Academician Pei Youshuo met with Minister of Rites Wang Liangde and Yan Shizhang. After ensuring all candidates had been checked, they opened the examination together.
Hei Fengxi entered the palace by imperial summons to see the Lord of Yongzhou and Madam Baili, only to find that they wanted to choose a bride for him. He tactfully declined, saying that he had not yet achieved anything noteworthy, and marrying too hastily would only draw criticism from the court. Madam Baili suspected that the second prince favored Feng Qiwu.
Hei Fengxi, knowing she was testing him, admitted that he was close to Feng Qiwu but had no personal intentions—he only wanted what was best for Dayong. As for marriage, he would wait until he had accomplished something and then let his father decide. The news quickly reached Feng Qiwu. She understood Madam Baili’s true intent, and this response would avoid raising the Lord of Yongzhou’s suspicions.
Since falling into the water, Feng Lanxi had begun to show signs of brilliance. Madam Baili knew he intended to compete for the position of Hereditary Prince, so she could only suppress him through rituals and etiquette. Meanwhile, Zhongli noticed that his master had changed quite a bit since the incident—becoming more approachable and often smiling. Hei Fengxi had Zhongli deliver supplies to Bai Fengxi, though he did not appear in person and instead waited at the alley’s entrance.
When Bai Fengxi saw all the delicious food, she restrained her craving and went to see Hei Fengxi. Learning that he had done this to win hearts for her sake, she couldn’t help feeling touched. Not only that, Hei Fengxi also confirmed that Bai Jiande had gone to Misty Mountain, meaning Bai Fengxi would need to stay in Yongjing for a while longer.
