A Wen learned that Li Chengda was coming tonight to get the safe key and seal from Wei Ruolai, intending to take the box of gold bars for himself. He picked up an iron rod, intending to kill Li Chengda and have Wei Ruolai escape with the gold bars. Wei Ruolai desperately stopped A Wen, explaining that Li Chengda and the investigation team had set a trap for him to fall into.

He didn't dare go home, and even less would he let A Wen take the risk. Wei Ruolai swore to fulfill Wei Ruochuan's last wish and hand over the gold bars to the contact person. A Wen worried about Wei Ruolai's safety and advised him to give the gold bars to Li Chengda. Wei Ruolai did not want to go against Wei Ruochuan's last wish. Wei Ruolai returned home very late.

Xu Nuo stopped him downstairs and made contact with Wei Ruolai using a secret code. He introduced himself as Wei Ruochuan's party introducer. Wei Ruolai was half-skeptical of him. Xu Nuo didn't have time to explain so much. He clearly stated that Li Chengda was a traitor and that Wei Ruochuan had sacrificed because of a traitor's betrayal. He told Wei Ruolai to give the safe key and seal to Li Chengda.

Wei Ruolai returned to his room, where Li Chengda had been waiting for a long time. Wei Ruolai handed over Wei Ruochuan's seal and the deposit slip to him. Li Chengda was overjoyed and quickly said goodbye to Wei Ruolai before leaving. Wei Ruolai lay in bed tossing and turning, reviewing all the events that had happened over the past two days. Xu Nuo guessed that the investigation team would ambush Li Chengda at the bank.

If Li Chengda tried to keep the gold bars for himself, he would definitely be caught. Xu Nuo would then find a way to get the gold bars back. Xu Nuo swore to avenge Wei Ruochuan. Wei Ruolai took out a photo of himself and Wei Ruochuan and prayed that Xu Nuo could retrieve the gold bars to avenge Wei Ruochuan, otherwise he would personally kill the traitor Li Chengda.

Early in the morning, Li Chengda came to the bank disguised, used Wei Ruochuan's key and seal to retrieve the box of gold bars, and then quietly left. Biaozi led his men to stake out the entrance of Rixin Bookstore, but they didn't see Li Chengda appear. He realized the situation was bad and rushed into the bookstore to inquire. Only then did he find out that Li Chengda had left early in the morning.

He hurried back to report to Lin Qiaosong. Lin Qiaosong sent Biaozi to the train station and the pier to intercept Li Chengda, and also sent people to the bookstore to inquire about Li Chengda's whereabouts. Biaozi learned from a bookstore clerk that Li Chengda had bought a ticket to Hong Kong. He immediately informed Lin Qiaosong. Lin Qiaosong personally led his men to the pier. They conducted a thorough search of the ship but did not find Li Chengda.

Li Chengda did not take a large ship to Hong Kong at all. He found a small boat, and the boatman was only responsible for taking him to Zhoushan. Li Chengda was very dissatisfied. Just as he was about to leave, he was shot and killed by Xu Nuo. Xu Nuo took the box of gold bars. Xu Nuo returned to his residence. Shen Jinzhen brought him a bowl of wontons.

Xu Nuo greatly appreciated Shen Tunan's vision for the bank's development and asked Shen Jinzhen to find a way to get Shen Tunan's work plan. Shen Tunan would never neglect his work for family matters. Shen Jinzhen wanted to find a breakthrough through Wei Ruolai. Early in the morning, Lin Qiaosong came to the Central Bank to complain to Shen Tunan and Deng Ze, insisting that Wei Ruolai was collaborating with the Communists. Shen Tunan immediately called Wei Ruolai in.

Wei Ruolai admitted that Wei Ruochuan had given him a box of gold bars before his death, but he had given the safe key and seal to Li Chengda. Furthermore, he didn't know beforehand that Wei Ruochuan was a Communist. Not only did he call to report Li Chengda, but he also wrote a letter of surrender and sent it to the investigation team. Lin Qiaosong sent Biaozi back to check, and they quickly found the letter.

Biaozi brought Wei Ruolai's letter of surrender. Shen Tunan vouched for Wei Ruolai, and his attitude was firm. Lin Qiaosong couldn't find evidence of Wei Ruolai collaborating with the Communists, so he had to leave dejectedly. Shen Tunan complained that Wei Ruolai shouldn't have kept secrets from him. Wei Ruolai knew nothing about what Wei Ruochuan had done.

He didn't understand politics, he just felt that the current KMT government was too corrupt, that wealth was only in the hands of a few people, and that the common people were struggling to survive. Shen Tunan swore to change this situation, and Wei Ruolai was willing to follow him. Xu Nuo used the twenty gold bars to rescue eight arrested comrades from the French Concession, and then escorted them out of Shanghai.

Only then did Xu Nuo leave with peace of mind. Lin Qiaosong learned about this when it was too late, and he pounded his chest and stamped his feet in anger. Shen Tunan called Mr. Song to apply for customs tariff reform. Mr. Song advised him to give up as soon as possible, as it would anger many prominent figures. Shen Tunan was willing to take all responsibility, and only then did Mr.

Song reluctantly agree, appointing him as the Central Bank's plenipotentiary representative to lead the recovery of customs tariff custody rights. Kang Shaojie learned that Lin Qiaosong had recently failed repeatedly. He lost his temper at him, and even beat him severely in front of Biaozi and others, leaving him bruised all over. Lin Qiaosong didn't want Biaozi and the others to see his miserable state, so he forcefully drove them away.

Shen Tunan decided to carry out the customs tariff reform with a strong hand. He did not want to implicate his family, so he asked his wife Su Cishu to take their daughter Xiao Yu'er back to her hometown to visit her Fourth Uncle. Su Cishu saw that Shen Tunan had something on his mind and insisted on staying to accompany Shen Tunan.
