Cang Jiumin confessed to Li Susu his past fears of being exposed as the devil fetus within the immortal sect. He revealed his relief after realizing that the nails Ye Xiwu once launched into his body were not out of hatred for him, but for the Devil God. He expressed profound gratitude to Li Susu for ridding him of the evil bone, thus preventing him from becoming the Devil God.

He vowed never to embrace the Devil God's power again, promising to keep his word to her. Li Susu, however, denied changing him, stating she was merely fulfilling her duty to forbid evil, and then urged him to join her for the upcoming parade. Gongye Jiwu woke to find himself disheveled, recalling that Mo Nv had rescued and treated his wounds. He had yielded to her proximity, and they had spent the night together.

The next morning, he grew concerned when he couldn't find Mo Nv, fearing she might have harmed herself. She soon reappeared, bringing his mended robe, adorned with a camellia, and a simple mushroom breakfast. Gongye Jiwu was deeply touched, admitting that no one had ever prepared breakfast for him or fixed his clothes in the Hengyang Sect. Mo Nv shared that she had learned such domestic skills from a previous marriage, but her husband had since passed away.

She extended an open invitation, telling Gongye Jiwu that if he ever felt troubled, he was welcome to return for a meal or tea, as she would always be there for him. Cang Jiumin and Li Susu joyfully participated in Jing's Water-splashing Festival, relieved that Jiumin was not chosen as the Devil God this year. During the parade, they were separated. Jiumin then encountered Si Ying and Jing Mie, who had materialized unseen by the mortals.

Si Ying taunted Jiumin about his temporary status as an immortal disciple, urging him to return to the Demon Realm and embrace the Devil God's power. She reminded him how Li Susu was almost devoured the previous night, implying that without the Devil God's power, he and those he cares about would remain vulnerable.

She presented him with an ultimatum: return to the Demon Realm and be revered as their lord, or remain in the immortal sect and face inevitable exposure and punishment as the devil fetus. Jiumin, feigning an agreement, demanded their sincerity and ordered them to kneel, which they refused, stating they would only pledge loyalty upon his return to the Demon Realm.

Jiumin dismissed them, asserting his decision on which path to take and telling them he would go to the Barren Abyss when the time was right, which they openly questioned. The Chixiao Sect Junior Chief, still bitter towards Cang Jiumin, stumbled upon his meeting with Si Ying and Jing Mie. He publicly denounced Jiumin, aiming to expose his perceived treachery to the immortal sects.

Jiumin, sensing danger, urged the Junior Chief to leave, but Si Ying swiftly intervened, killing the Junior Chief and framing Jiumin for the murder. As chaos erupted among the civilians, Jiumin quickly created a formation to protect them from Si Ying and Jing Mie. The demons, however, used the innocent mortals as leverage, threatening to kill them unless Jiumin gave in.

Jiumin, recalling his past fears of being exposed as the devil fetus and his promise to Li Susu to shun demonic power, was torn. Faced with the immediate threat to innocent lives, he apologized inwardly to Li Susu for breaking his vow and forcibly activated the power of the God-slaughtering Crossbow to save the civilians. As Cang Jiumin was weakened, Si Ying and Jing Mie attempted to infuse him with demonic energy, hoping to awaken the evil bone within him.

However, they were puzzled when the evil bone didn't respond as expected. At that critical moment, Li Susu arrived and courageously confronted the demons, forcing Si Ying and Jing Mie to retreat. Exhausted from the struggle, Li Susu collapsed. Cang Jiumin rushed to her side and, to his astonishment, discovered that she had sealed the evil bone within her own body, a secret he immediately realized must be protected.

Immortal sect disciples mistakenly apprehended Cang Jiumin, believing he had colluded with demons to slaughter civilians and killed Chief Cen's son. He was brought to Hengyang Sect's Demon Subduing Peak for judgment. Jiumin firmly denied the accusations, a stance supported by his master, Zhao You, who expressed trust in his disciple. However, Chief Cen of Chixiao Sect, devastated by his son's death, was relentless.

He presented a Shadow Pearl, displaying a distorted mirror image of Jiumin's encounter with Si Ying and Jing Mie, culminating in the Junior Chief's death, thereby inciting widespread suspicion among the other immortal sects. Zhao You and Qu Xuanzi intervened, arguing that the investigation was incomplete and suggesting that eyewitness accounts from the civilians in Jing should be gathered to ascertain the full truth.

Chief Cen, undeterred by their pleas and emboldened by an opportune lightning strike, attempted to execute Jiumin on the spot, but was again stopped by Zhao You and Qu Xuanzi, who insisted on a fair trial. Meanwhile, Si Ying and Jing Mie observed the trial from afar, pleased with the chaos but annoyed by Jiumin's continued insistence on being an immortal disciple. During the tense trial, Di Mian, the Lord of the Wang, made a dramatic appearance.

Qu Xuanzi introduced him, explaining that Di Mian had saved him millennia ago after the Devil God's destruction. Di Mian, recounting his own tragic past of following the Devil God and losing his wife, declared his mission to prevent the Devil God's rebirth. He then exposed Cang Jiumin as the devil fetus, causing uproar among the immortal sects.

Jiumin, distressed, denied the accusation, but Di Mian pressed on, revealing that the God-slaughtering Crossbow, a powerful devil weapon, was indeed on Jiumin. Jiumin admitted to possessing the crossbow but vehemently denied using it for murder. Di Mian further explained that the Devil God had formed a contract with the Yiyue Tribe, from which Jiumin confessed he originated, to conceive and nurture the devil fetus.

Despite these revelations, Jiumin defiantly declared that no matter his fate, he would choose his own path of good or evil and would never become the Devil God. Di Mian then unveiled a chilling prophecy from the Devil God, foretelling the devil fetus's tragic fate: a life of suffering, destined to cause his mother's death at birth, experience betrayal by his wife and abandonment by loved ones, and ultimately kill his master to fully transform into the Devil God.

This revelation shattered Cang Jiumin, who recognized his own life story echoing the prophecy. The Devil God's insidious voice began to corrupt his mind, causing Jiumin to lash out at the surrounding immortal cultivators. Master Zhao You's unwavering words of encouragement momentarily pierced through the demonic influence, drawing Jiumin back to lucidity. However, in the ensuing chaos, an immortal cultivator accidentally struck Jiumin, sending him crashing onto the Demon-subduing Pillar. The Pillar reacted violently, intensifying the accusations and cries from the crowd for his immediate death.
