Zhao You brought his new disciple, Cang Jiumin, to the Hengyang Sect for the upcoming Immortal Sect Competition. While there, Zhao You introduced Cang Jiumin to Chief Qu Xuanzi. Cang Jiumin then seized the chance to ask Chief Qu about Gongye Jiwu's connection to Xiao Lin, a figure from five centuries ago who bore a striking resemblance to Gongye Jiwu. Chief Qu revealed that Gongye Jiwu was not an ordinary person but was, in fact, Xiao Lin.

Xiao Lin, Immortal Buxu’s sect nephew, had suffered an untimely death, and Immortal Buxu had placed his primordial spirit in a special artifact called the Crystal Lamp, which was then nurtured in the Heaven Lake. After centuries, a baby was born from the artifact, and Chief Qu named him Gongye Jiwu. Later, Chief Qu acknowledged that he had discerned Cang Jiumin’s true identity.

He expressed his trust in Immortal Buxu’s judgment and, aligning with Zhao You, believed that Cang Jiumin had great potential and could become an excellent disciple if he received the right enlightenment. Cang Jiumin successfully communicated with the phantom of Pang Yizhi, learning the intricate steps required to revive a deceased person.

This process involved collecting the blood of an enemy, the tears of a lover, and the hair and flesh of the deceased, all culminating in the activation of a Soul-gathering Array in a place rich in spiritual energy. Cang Jiumin, desperate to bring back Ye Xiwu, was met with Pang Yizhi’s assertion that such an act was unnecessary, a statement for which Pang Yizhi offered no further explanation.

Cang Jiumin, however, believed Pang Yizhi’s reluctance stemmed from guilt over Gongye Jiwu’s resurrection and was determined to proceed with his plan. Gongye Jiwu approached Cang Jiumin, expressing his worries about how to interact with Li Susu, who had changed significantly after her return from seclusion. Cang Jiumin encouraged him not to be disheartened, suggesting that Li Susu’s newfound emotional maturity might offer them a new beginning.

Cang Jiumin then shared his own story, revealing he was born five centuries ago, initially devoid of emotion until a special person taught him about love, joy, and sorrow. Though he eventually understood her feelings, he couldn't keep her, and he had been searching for her for five centuries. He deeply cherished his current life in the immortal sect, which offered him the opportunity to live a life he once envied.

Gongye Jiwu, feeling a deep kinship with Cang Jiumin, affirmed their friendship, which touched Cang Jiumin deeply. Cang Jiumin then asked Gongye Jiwu about the Soul-gathering Array, but Gongye Jiwu knew nothing about it. Determined to learn the spell, Cang Jiumin sought information in the Scripture Hall, where he discovered that the Soul-gathering Array was a forbidden demonic spell.

At the same time, Li Susu realized her progress in cultivating the Heartless Way was too slow, and relying on her physical body to seal the evil bones was not a sustainable solution. She also ventured to the Scripture Hall to find demon books in search of alternative methods. They narrowly missed each other, with Cang Jiumin only catching a glimpse of her retreating figure.

Through her research, Li Susu learned that the devil fetus’s origin was inextinguishable and the evil bones imperishable. She concluded that her current pure spirit body could only temporarily suppress the evil bones and prevent their influence. With her powers waning, she realized her only immediate recourse was to leverage the spiritual energy of Mount Changze and Chongyu’s power to reinforce the suppression.

Cang Jiumin's continued research led him to a crucial discovery: the Soul-gathering Array could be activated with a single drop of blood from a pure spirit body if no primordial spirit was available. Remembering Gongye Jiwu’s earlier mention of Li Susu’s pure spirit body, Cang Jiumin formulated a new plan to use her blood to revive Ye Xiwu. He visited a lake by the Hengyang Sect’s Heaven Lake, a place reminiscent of one Ye Xiwu had described.

He heard the faint sound of a zither, but upon investigating, found no one. Unbeknownst to him, Li Susu's evil bones had reacted to the nearby presence of the devil fetus, compelling her to rush back to the Heaven Lake for immediate meditation to contain them. Once again, they inadvertently passed each other. Meanwhile, Si Ying and Jing Mie, two powerful demons, sought out Di Mian to obtain knowledge on how to dismantle the immortal realm's seal.

Their goal was to retrieve the Bone-refining Seal, which they believed would guide them to the devil fetus. Di Mian, seemingly compliant, provided them with the mantra and method. Unbeknownst to the demons, Di Mian harbored his own hidden agenda, intending for their actions to inadvertently help him break the Devil God’s seal and secure his own freedom. Cang Jiumin overheard his fellow disciples discussing the history and nature of the Devil God.

He learned that the Devil God was cyclically reborn from sin as long as suffering persisted in the mortal world. The disciples explained that the arrival of the devil fetus, paired with the devil artifacts, would lead to the Devil God’s ultimate resurrection, plunging the three realms into catastrophe. They also spoke of Si Ying and Jing Mie’s relentless five-century search for the devil fetus, which they believed was the source of all misfortune.

As the Immortal Sect Competition drew near, leaders from various immortal factions convened to devise a strategy against Si Ying and Jing Mie. Zhao You and Chief Qu Xuanzi proposed an audacious plan: to host the competition in the Shangqing Realm, thereby transforming it into a trap to lure the two demons into a decisive confrontation.

Cang Jiumin learned from his fellow disciples that the competition would indeed be held in the Shangqing Realm and that Lady of Spirituality, Li Susu, would be attending. He resolved to use this opportunity to ask Li Susu for a drop of her pure spirit blood. Fearing harassment for Li Susu, her sect nephew, Yue Ya, decided to impersonate her, using a magical veil to obscure her face.

Yue Ya intended to draw away any unwanted attention, relishing the chance to "teach a lesson" to any disrespectful suitors, with Li Susu's cautious approval. On the day of the Immortal Sect Competition, Si Ying and Jing Mie, disguised as disciples from the minor Purple-of-Ursa Isles, successfully infiltrated the Shangqing Realm. Yue Ya, cloaked in her disguise as Li Susu, also made her appearance.

Li Susu, having altered her own appearance, opted to attend the event with Gongye Jiwu but without the intention of competing, viewing it as a mere stroll. The rules of the competition were simple: participants were to capture demons, with rankings determined by both quantity and speed. During the competition, Cen Mi, the arrogant son of the Chixiao Sect leader, approached Yue Ya, mistaking her for Li Susu, and attempted to forcibly remove her veil.

Yue Ya, incensed by his audacity, fiercely resisted, but Cen Mi's companions quickly overwhelmed her. Just as the situation escalated, Cang Jiumin intervened, dispatching Cen Mi’s associates and confronting Cen Mi himself. He threatened Cen Mi, reminding him that in the perilous Shangqing Realm, an accidental death was not uncommon. Under duress, Cen Mi apologized to Yue Ya, and Cang Jiumin returned her Demon-locking Sachet.

Meanwhile, Si Ying and Jing Mie, now inside the Shangqing Realm, dispatched Nian Baiyu to search for the Bone-refining Seal while they continued their own hunt, navigating the unfamiliar territory with caution. Li Susu, now alone in the Yuqing Palace—the historic site of Ming Ye and Sang Jiu’s wedding—found herself overwhelmed by memories.

She reflected on her painful struggle to forget Tantai Jin, questioning why she couldn’t emulate Ming Ye, who had set aside his love for Sang Jiu to protect the world from the Devil God. She lamented her own indecisiveness and inability to escape the five-century-old memories that tormented her. Cang Jiumin approached Yue Ya once more, formally requesting a drop of her pure spirit blood to revive his wife's primordial spirit.

Yue Ya, expressing regret, finally revealed her true identity as Yue Ya, Li Susu's sect nephew, explaining that she couldn't provide the pure spirit blood he sought. Disappointed, Cang Jiumin left. He then arrived at the Yuqing Palace, where he unexpectedly encountered Li Susu. To his astonishment, her face was identical to that of his lost wife, Ye Xiwu.
