Ye Qingyu confronted Tantai Jin, who was cradling Ye Xiwu's lifeless body, expressing disgust at his current state and asserting that Ye Xiwu would feel the same. Tantai Jin vehemently refuted this, recalling Ye Xiwu's past kindness and insisting that she was the only one who treated him well. Ye Qingyu pleaded with him to allow Ye Xiwu a dignified rest, explaining that she only wanted to leave him and was even willing to die to do so.

Tantai Jin, however, was tormented by Ye Xiwu's final wish to never see him again in any lifetime, yet he believed he only ever wanted to be good to her, just as she had protected him. Ye Qingyu firmly told him that his wife, Ye Xiwu, was dead and it was time to let her rest in peace. As Ye Qingyu left the palace, Nian Baiyu tried to persuade him to stay and reason with Tantai Jin.

However, Ye Qingyu confessed his envy for Tantai Jin's ability to lose himself in grief. He, too, longed to mourn his loved ones—Xiwu, his father, his elder brother Zeyu, and Pian Ran—but felt a greater responsibility to the war-torn Jing Kingdom. He stressed that their sacrifices could not be in vain, and someone had to shoulder the burden of rebuilding the country.

Shortly after, Nian Baiyu was informed that Ye Bingshang had been apprehended while attempting to flee the city in disguise. Ye Qingyu ordered her brought before him for questioning. Ye Qingyu confronted Ye Bingshang about her attempt to kill Ye Xiwu in prison, dismissing her previous claim of avenging Xiao Lin as a lie.

Ye Bingshang, admitting that Ye Qingyu was the only other clever person in the Ye family besides herself, defiantly asked if he would deny her any chance of survival for Ye Xiwu's sake. She dismissed his moral high ground, suggesting that if Xiao Lin had won, Ye Xiwu would be in her current position. Finally, Ye Bingshang confessed that she had poisoned porridge meant for Tantai Jin and later tried to kill Ye Xiwu to prevent the truth from surfacing.

Driven by resentment over her grandmother's favoritism towards Ye Xiwu, she had wished for her grandmother, Tantai Jin, and Ye Xiwu to all die together. She revealed her desire to kill Tantai Jin stemmed from his role in Xiao Lin's demise and her subsequent suffering, including the removal of her love thread. Tantai Jin, who had been secretly listening, emerged to confront Ye Bingshang.

He realized the full extent of her deception: her poisoned porridge had indirectly led to Xiao Lin's death and Ye Xiwu's deep-seated hatred for him, culminating in their tragic separation. He mused on how Ye Xiwu's compassion for the world, from widows and orphans to refugees, had inspired him to try to love it too. But now that Ye Xiwu was gone, his own heart felt dead.

Despite Xiao Lin's dying plea for Ye Bingshang's safety, Tantai Jin, now seeing her true culpability, condemned her to drink the poisoned porridge. Back in the dungeon, Ye Bingshang, reflecting on Xiao Lin's death, lamented the futility of his dying wish given Tantai Jin's retribution. Pang Yizhi appeared, not to save her, but to deliver a "recorded message" from Xiao Lin.

In the message, Xiao Lin reassured Ye Bingshang that his love for her was genuine, existing independently of any love thread. He recalled intimate memories, such as her joy at picking a Tumi flower during a spring outing and her kindness in distributing porridge to the needy. He confessed he understood her anxieties about the sincerity of the love she received and wished for her happiness.

After hearing these heartfelt words, Ye Bingshang was overcome with profound regret, realizing her self-deception and past mistakes. She then consumed the poisoned porridge and died. Pang Yizhi collected her tears, completing his collection of "enemy's blood and lover's tears." Ye Qingyu expressed gratitude to Nian Baiyu for arranging the burial of his father and brother, acknowledging their and Pian Ran's admirable sacrifices.

He was informed that Tantai Jin had promised to inter Ye Xiwu with the full ceremony of a queen in a few days, a detail that offered some relief, though Ye Qingyu voiced a hope that Tantai Jin would not go back on his word. Nian Baiyu privately wished Tantai Jin would abdicate and leave the Jing Kingdom, seeing it as a "sad place" where Ye Xiwu had died, forever reminding him of his loss.

Ye Qingyu agreed, noting that every part of the kingdom would be a painful reminder for Tantai Jin. Meanwhile, Tantai Jin personally carved Ye Xiwu's tombstone in the royal tomb. Later, in the Ruo Water Ice Coffin, he held Ye Xiwu's body, imagining her accepting his vow that they would never be separated again and would return home together. He then deliberately toppled a candle, setting the room ablaze, intending to die with her.

Palace guards discovered the inferno and fought through the night to extinguish it. Tantai Jin had left a letter in his study, abdicating the throne and entrusting Ye Qingyu with the formidable task of finding a capable branch member of the Tantai family to inherit the kingship for the stability of the realm. Ten thousand years after the Barren Abyss barrier was shattered, Si Ying and Jing Mie re-emerged.

They reflected on the Devil God's demise but affirmed that his return was inevitable as long as the evil bones persisted. Si Ying declared her resolve to seek out the new Devil God, and Jing Mie suggested starting their search at the Ruo River. He recalled a unique pact the original Devil God had made with the Yiyue Tribe there, deeming it an ideal location to begin gathering demons and restoring the Demon Realm.

Nian Baiyu, who had rescued Tantai Jin from the palace fire, revealed that the Ruo Water, guarded by the Yiyue Tribe, was also the Nether River, a place where primordial spirits converged. He offered Tantai Jin a way to find Ye Xiwu's spirit. Despite warnings that no one who entered the Gate of Underworld Moon ever returned, Tantai Jin, thanking Nian Baiyu, resolutely stepped into the treacherous Nether River.

Inside, he was plagued by vivid illusions of Ye Xiwu, relentlessly searching and calling her name. He ignored the warnings that mortal bodies would be consumed by the Ruo Water, vowing to find her no matter the cost. Meanwhile, Si Ying and Jing Mie arrived at the Yiyue Tribe's settlement in search of the "devil fetus." They easily subdued Nian Baiyu, but opted to spare him, believing he might prove useful in their future plans, before continuing their quest.

One hundred years elapsed as Tantai Jin tirelessly scoured the Nether River. He failed to find Ye Xiwu's spirit but recovered the Qingshi Jade, delivered to him by a crow. Four hundred years later, his body was nearing its limit as the divine essence from Ye Xiwu struggled to heal the relentless corrosion of the Ruo Water. Yet, he remained steadfast, vowing that upon his death, his spirit would merge with the Nether Water to continue his eternal search.

Around this time, a storyteller recounted the legend of King Tantai Jin, his ominous birth, his unification of Jing and Sheng, and the secret behind the masks worn by successive Tantai kings—a legacy of his disfigured face after burning the Jing Palace for a woman. The storyteller concluded with a prophecy that the Devil God would reappear in 500 years, which was now.

Even after centuries of exposure to the Ruo Water, which had deafened him to external sounds, Tantai Jin persisted in his solitary quest, driven by the unwavering vision of Ye Xiwu, determined to find her and return home.
