Till the End of the Moon Episode 16 Recap
> Till the End of the Moon Recap
Ming Ye, still recovering and blind in the bamboo forest, felt a profound sadness for his fallen friends. He asked "Mozhu" what she would do if a cherished friend passed on and could never return, explaining that while mortal souls might wander to the Nether River, gods simply vanished from existence upon their demise, leaving no trace. Despite this finality, he wished to commemorate his important friends, hoping that being remembered meant they were not entirely gone.
He then requested her to buy some wine from the town, clarifying it was for a mortal ritual to console the dead, not for him to drink, much to her initial confusion. " Mozhu" brought Ming Ye a new prescription, optimistically suggesting it might finally restore his vision. Ming Ye, however, expressed a sense of hopelessness, accepting that he might remain blind.
He revealed his profound loneliness, lamenting that all his friends were dead, and his wife, who he clarified was no longer his wife, despised him so much that they would likely never meet again. He then asked "Mozhu" if she would always remain in the bamboo forest, as she was his only friend left in the world, and if he could visit her occasionally. " Mozhu," however, insisted that once his sight returned, she would leave immediately to wander freely.
She privately thought that if he ever recognized her, he would surely not wish to see her again. One sunny day, as "Mozhu" combed Ming Ye's hair with jasmine balm, he unexpectedly regained his sight and saw her reflection in the mirror, realizing his caregiver was Sang Jiu. Overwhelmed with emotion, he quickly hid his recovered vision, pretending the balm had irritated his eyes when "Mozhu" noticed their redness.
He privately resolved to keep his recovery a secret, cherishing the hope of remaining in the forest with her longer. He also considered taking her back to Shangqing Realm to help her restore her divine essence once he revealed the truth. Later, noticing "Mozhu" was uncomfortable sleeping on the floor, Ming Ye suggested she take the bed, or even that they share it, as he was almost recovered. "
Mozhu" initially refused due to his "blindness" but eventually agreed to share the bed, with them sleeping separately. She expressed concern that his eyes hadn't recovered, vowing to find more medicinal herbs. Ming Ye, meanwhile, felt apologetic for his deception, but yearned for their shared time to continue. Sang Jiu brought Ming Ye his medicine, now sweetened with honey she had stolen from the mountain, explaining she did it because he always found it bitter.
Ming Ye noticed her stung cheek and tenderly applied medicine, regretting her injury. Meanwhile, celestial soldiers reported to Tian Huan that they had found Ming Ye in a bamboo forest. Sang Jiu, unaware of this, prepared to leave to gather bamboo shoots, carefully reminding Ming Ye about the water, leftovers, and his cloak.
Tian Huan soon arrived at the forest, confronting Ming Ye about his prolonged absence and asking why he hadn't returned to Yuqing Palace to inform her of his recovery. Ming Ye explained that he had been gravely wounded and sought quiet seclusion for recuperation, apologizing for causing her worry.
When she pressed him about how long he intended to stay, he expressed a desire to remain a while longer, adding that he already had someone looking after him, politely declining her offer to stay and care for him. Tian Huan then revealed an urgent matter: celestial soldiers had discovered the Devil God's Bone-refining Seal in a valley. She emphasized the catastrophic consequences if its potent devil energy were to spread.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Ming Ye agreed to depart immediately to address it. As Tian Huan left to retrieve a magic artifact from Yuqing Palace, Ming Ye quickly penned a letter to Sang Jiu, explaining his urgent departure due to the devil artifact's appearance and promising to return within one to ten days to explain everything, concluding with a heartfelt message that he would always miss her.
Tian Huan, upon her return, discovered the letter, and realizing Sang Jiu had been caring for Ming Ye, burned it in a fit of jealousy. At the valley, Tian Huan showed Ming Ye the Devil God's Bone-refining Seal at the bottom of a massive crater, explaining that celestial soldiers had located it after extensive searching.
She stressed that despite the Devil God's demise, the Seal's potent devil energy still permeated the area, threatening to turn it into a haven for demons if left unattended. She detailed how the Seal could both amplify devil energy and serve as a barrier, recalling how it was used to strip captured celestial soldiers of their divine essence, transforming them into demons.
Ming Ye, upon hearing this, realized the Seal's ability to remove divine essence meant it might also be capable of restoring Sang Jiu's lost divine essence. He decided to investigate. He observed that while outwardly evil, the artifact possessed a neutral core, suggesting it could be purified for benevolent purposes. However, he found it deeply embedded in the earth, its devil energy intertwined with the land, making extraction exceedingly difficult.
Realizing he had no other option, Ming Ye transformed into his true dragon form and painfully extracted his Heart-guarding Scale. He infused it with his divine power, using it as a temporary barrier to contain the Seal's overwhelming devil energy, thus successfully retrieving the Bone-refining Seal. Ming Ye explained to Tian Huan that he had to exchange his Heart-guarding Scale for the Seal as the two were on the verge of integrating. He dismissed the immense pain as minor.
Tian Huan praised him for his sacrifice, calling him a worthy successor to her father. Ming Ye then cast heavy rain upon the area and, with his Heart-guarding Scale now embedded in the ground, declared that the valley, which would be named Mount Buzhao (meaning "Sun and Moon Don't Shine" due to its enclosed nature), would soon be filled with abundant spiritual energy. They then decided to return to Shangqing Realm.
Upon returning to Shangqing Realm, Ming Ye led Tian Huan to the Fire Quadripod, a powerful ancient artifact whose four legs embodied the four seasons and whose fire represented the blazing sun, making it intensely potent. Tian Huan recounted that her father, Tian Hao, had used it to purify demons, but at a severe cost to his lifespan, leading to its sealing. She affirmed its suitability for purifying the Bone-refining Seal.
Ming Ye declared that with the Fire Quadripod, the purification would take four days and nights, after which he intended to use the cleansed Seal to heal Sang Jiu. He resolved to burn his own divine essence to free the Seal from devil energy, hoping this sacrifice would allow them to finally have a new beginning. With the Devil God now defeated and the Three Realms stable, Ming Ye was determined to repay all that he owed Sang Jiu.
However, Tian Huan watched him, her jealousy flaring as she realized Ming Ye was risking "losing his sanity" by operating the Fire Quadripod, all to save "that clam" who had lost her divine essence. Seizing the opportunity, Tian Huan gathered her celestial troops. Though feigning humility, she was assured by Tuo Fa and other generals of their loyalty due to her lineage and status as Goddess of the flying serpents and owner of Yuqing Palace.
She then announced that Ming Ye was in a strict meditation retreat for several days, but the crucial search for devil artifacts must continue. Claiming to have just received intelligence that the "clams" had picked up a devil artifact, she ordered the troops to accompany her to search for it, privately vowing that Sang Jiu would not have the fate to compete with her for Ming Ye.
Back in the bamboo forest, Sang Jiu searched for Ming Ye, puzzled by his disappearance, especially since he was blind. Her thoughts were interrupted by celestial soldiers, led by Tian Huan, who stormed the area, shouting that by "God Ming Ye's order," the clam (Sang Jiu) was to be killed on sight. Hidden, Sang Jiu was heartbroken, believing Ming Ye was actively trying to eliminate her.
Though the soldiers failed to find her, Tian Huan declared that Sang Jiu could run but not hide. Distraught and confused, Sang Jiu resolved to confront Ming Ye directly and traveled to Shangqing Realm. She noticed the guards were unfamiliar and was promptly challenged. When she tried to explain she was a "low-ranking immortal" seeking God Ming Ye urgently, the guards scoffed at her lack of divine essence, dismissing her as a mere imp.
They refused to let her see Ming Ye, explaining he was in a crucial four-day strict meditation retreat, undertaking a matter of utmost importance to the Four Continents and Three Realms. When Sang Jiu inquired about Tian Huan, the guards proudly stated that Goddess Tian Huan, being "on the same page" with God Ming Ye, was leading the celestial forces in hunting down scattered devil artifacts and eliminating demon remnants.
They warned Sang Jiu, as an "imp," to be cautious if she had any ties to the Devil God. Sang Jiu decided to wait out Ming Ye's meditation, determined to get answers. While Sang Jiu was waiting at Shangqing Realm, Tian Huan led her celestial forces to the Mohe River palace. Sang You fiercely defended his people, challenging Tian Huan, who cruelly mocked him.
He bravely commanded his guards to protect their King, but Tian Huan swiftly defeated both Sang You and the King, deriding the King's lack of power despite his ancient cultivation. Tian Huan then falsely accused the Mohe Water Tribe of colluding with the Devil God and possessing a devil weapon, declaring it a crime punishable by familial extermination. She offered to spare the tribe if the weapon was surrendered.
The King vehemently denied the charges, accusing Shangqing Realm of fabricating crimes. Tian Huan, however, dismissed his protests, asserting her authority as the protector of the Three Realms. The King reminded her of Mohe's past kindness to her and Ming Ye, but Tian Huan scornfully rejected this, revealing her true motive: pure jealousy.
When a celestial soldier, Tuo Fa, cautiously suggested consulting Ming Ye, referring to him as "the Clam King's son-in-law," Tian Huan flew into a rage, declaring that Ming Ye had been "forced" into marriage with "that smelly clam" whom he had "dumped," and that the Mohe tribe was shamelessly trying to claim kinship.
Despite Tuo Fa's observation that no devil weapon had been found, Tian Huan twisted the narrative, claiming the Mohe tribe had colluded with the Devil God and fiercely resisted, justifying the celestial soldiers' actions as self-defense, and assuring them Ming Ye would not blame her. The King directly accused Tian Huan of jealousy over his daughter's marriage to Ming Ye, leading her to frame their tribe.
Tian Huan then callously confessed to tricking Sang Jiu during a demonic energy episode, replacing her supposed "Refining Spring" with Ruo Water, which Sang Jiu unknowingly endured with painful faith. Tian Huan culminated her tirade by declaring that the Mohe Water Tribe's annihilation was entirely due to the King siring a daughter who "bit off more than she can chew" by daring to pursue "her Ming Ye."
Simultaneously, Sang Jiu sensed trouble when her Reflection Pearl, which glowed with her brother's demonic power, became unresponsive. Rushing back to the Mohe River, she was devastated to find her people and father brutally slaughtered. In her anguish, she discovered a pearl left by her father, which replayed Tian Huan's cruel confessions and her father's accusations of jealousy. Overcome with grief and self-blame, Sang Jiu wailed that she regretted ever loving, saving, or marrying Ming Ye. She felt unworthy to be her father's daughter or the Princess of Mohe, and in her despair and hatred, she "lost her sanity," succumbing to dark emotions.
