Overlooking the Apothecary House, Zhan Huang senses the distinctive aura of the snake tribe, confirming the presence of the woman who nurtured his primordial spirit for many years. He credits her for his awakening and believes she is destined to be his. Despite his longing, Zhan Huang prioritizes his grand scheme, instructing Tao Tie to initiate their plans and declaring his intention to conquer the three realms as a wedding gift for his future Demon Empress.
Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing discover numerous animal skeletons near the Apothecary House. Xiao Qing suspects Tao Tie, but Bai Yaoyao's spiritual pearl reacts to a different, unfamiliar demonic energy. She realizes the demon aura stems from Leng Ning, recalling how her spiritual pearl, imbued with millennia of power, briefly resided in Leng Ning's body during a past healing. Blaming herself for the developing situation, Bai Yaoyao worries about Xu Xuan’s safety.
Leng Ning, joyful about her impending marriage, tries on her wedding gown with Xu Jiaorong. She happily confides that Xu Xuan wants to keep the wedding a secret for now due to her disfigured face. Bai Yaoyao approaches Leng Ning for a private conversation. She addresses the strange demon aura and the recent animal deaths, noting the spiritual connection she senses to Leng Ning.
Bai Yaoyao warns Leng Ning about the fine line between good and evil, suggesting that an evil thought, perhaps originating from the day Leng Ning disfigured herself, has taken root in her heart. Leng Ning vehemently denies any demonic connection, accusing Bai Yaoyao of fabricating stories to break up her marriage to Xu Xuan because of her own feelings for him. Xu Xuan enters the room just as Leng Ning thanks Bai Yaoyao for her "matchmaking."
He becomes angry at Bai Yaoyao's feigned indifference towards the wedding. Xu Xuan later confronts Bai Yaoyao, questioning her apparent calm and "cold-heartedness" regarding his marriage. He expresses frustration at being unable to guess her thoughts. Bai Yaoyao reiterates Zi Xuan's teaching that one should not probe or predict the human heart, preferring to act with pure intention.
She speaks of Zi Xuan as the one she has cherished for a thousand years, the source of her first joys and sorrows, explaining that her heart holds room for him alone. Unaware that he himself is Zi Xuan, Xu Xuan grows jealous and feels humiliated, believing he has misunderstood her. He accepts her "blessing" and leaves. Heartbroken, Bai Yaoyao sheds tears, realizing Xu Xuan has forgotten their past and her.
Walking alone in the rain, Xu Xuan reflects on Bai Yaoyao's words. He recalls how she had mistaken him for Zi Xuan and their intimate moments, now feeling that his hopes were based on a mere illusion. The rain feels like bitter tears as he confesses to himself that he has truly fallen in love with Bai Yaoyao. Later, Xu Xuan speaks to Leng Ning in front of Master Leng Huichun's portrait.
He reminds her that their engagement was a pretense to deter Prince Zhao Yu. He implores her not to take it seriously, clarifying that his feelings for her are strictly fraternal, not romantic. Leng Ning, however, confesses her genuine love for him and insists on proceeding with the marriage, determined to keep him by her side even without his love.
Observing her changed demeanor, Xu Xuan agrees to the wedding but warns her that it will not conclude as she desires. Xu Jiaorong busies herself with elaborate wedding preparations, instructing her staff with infectious enthusiasm. She expresses immense joy for her brother, recalling their past hardships and stating that seeing him have a magnificent wedding will bring her life as his elder sister to completion.
Xu Xuan, in turn, finds contentment in his sister's happiness, promising a grand and festive celebration. Xiao Hui informs Tao Tie about Qi Xiao and Xiao Qing's plans to trap him, and also about Bai Yaoyao's investigation into the demon aura and animal carcasses near the Apothecary House. Tao Tie deduces that the demon aura belongs to Leng Ning and sees an opportunity to use her as a pawn. The Demon Emperor, Zhan Huang, appears, observing Tao Tie.
Zhan Huang reveals he knows Tao Tie wishes to restore his physical body and offers his help, hinting at a strategic alliance. Meanwhile, Qi Xiao proposes using Fiery Blue Fluorite to destroy Tao Tie and suggests involving Bai Yaoyao. Xu Xuan, however, expresses his reluctance to endanger Bai Yaoyao, leading Qi Xiao to playfully tease him about his burgeoning feelings. Xu Xuan curtly dismisses Qi Xiao’s jests, and they decide to proceed without Bai Yaoyao.
Continuing their investigation in a desolate area, Qi Xiao and Xiao Qing find numerous animal carcasses with their blood drained. Qi Xiao, however, dismisses Tao Tie as the culprit, reasoning that Tao Tie would seek more potent elixirs. He uses a revealing spell, but finds no demon aura on the carcasses, making him wonder if only Bai Yaoyao can perceive this specific demonic energy. Xiao Qing speculates that Tao Tie might be the powerful Dubhe.
Their search is interrupted by a cry for help, but it turns out to be an Apothecary House disciple with a mere sprained ankle. Qi Xiao's gentle care for the human disciple sharply contrasts with his usual severity towards Xiao Qing, leaving her annoyed. Late at night, Tao Tie appears in Leng Ning’s room, offering her a Calming Bell to suppress her demonic qualities.
Leng Ning denies having any such qualities, but Tao Tie asserts that her demon aura is what drew him to her and that only he can help. He attempts to manipulate her by reminding her of the animals she recently killed and then claims that the bloodlust and demon aura within her were intentionally left by Bai Yaoyao, whom he exposes as a "thousand-year-old snake demon" with malicious designs on Xu Xuan.
This manipulation, combined with her existing resentment and Xu Xuan's recent harsh words, fuels Leng Ning's determination to act against Bai Yaoyao to protect Xu Xuan. However, she refuses to directly cooperate with Tao Tie, insisting she can handle the situation alone. Tao Tie leaves, confident she will eventually seek his aid. Leng Ning later lures Bai Yaoyao into a room infused with realgar, observing Bai Yaoyao’s discomfort and the increasing demon aura within herself.
Leng Ning accuses Bai Yaoyao of being the true demon and demands she leave the Apothecary House and Xu Xuan, threatening to expose Bai Yaoyao's true identity to everyone. Bai Yaoyao agrees to leave immediately and never return, but first offers to dispel the demon aura in Leng Ning. Influenced by Tao Tie's earlier words, Leng Ning rejects her offer, accusing her of "crocodile tears." Bai Yaoyao sadly wishes Leng Ning and Xu Xuan a long and happy life.
Bai Yaoyao then approaches Xu Xuan to announce her departure, claiming her master has summoned her back to Mount Li for training. Xu Xuan tries to convince her to stay for the wedding. Leng Ning interjects, supporting Bai Yaoyao's departure for her spiritual cultivation. Xu Xuan, however, insists Bai Yaoyao owes him gratitude for saving her life from Tao Tie's attack.
Bai Yaoyao calmly offers to pay for her treatment with money, treasures, or rare medicinal herbs, clearly intending to sever all ties with the Apothecary House. Xu Xuan, with a serious expression, walks up to her and grasps her hand, poised to speak.
