Yao Zhiming invited Chen Shuzhen to have breakfast at Xing’anli. Chen Shuzhen was very happy. Yao Zhiming took the opportunity to propose that he and Mai Chenghuan help manage the Xing’anli business, but Chen Shuzhen made various excuses. Yao Zhiming then suggested she buy insurance. When Liu Wanyu learned from the nursing home staff that Yao Zhiming had taken Chen Shuzhen out, she rushed to the hotel.

Upon hearing Yao Zhiming's words, she assumed he was trying to swindle Chen Shuzhen out of money and burst in to beat him up. Later, she found out that Yao Zhiming was the grandson of Chen Shuzhen’s ex-husband—her biological grandson. Mai Chenghuan rushed to the nursing home and quickly understood the situation, repeatedly apologizing to Yao Zhiming on behalf of Liu Wanyu. Learning that Yao Zhiming was Mai Chenghuan’s boss, Liu Wanyu apologized to him awkwardly.

She explained her intention of asking Chen Shuzhen to fund the dowry so the Xin family wouldn’t look down on them. Mai Chenghuan strongly opposed this and blamed Liu Wanyu for asking Chen Shuzhen. She would rather not get married than compromise with the Xin family. Chen Shuzhen called Mai Chenghuan aside to ask her opinion about the marriage.

Mai Chenghuan recounted the insults and mockery from Xin Jialiang and how she wanted to rely on her own efforts to give her parents a good life, not change her fate through marriage. Chen Shuzhen gave her a family heirloom jade bracelet and advised her to think carefully about the marriage. Liu Wanyu suspected Yao Zhiming had bad intentions, and although he didn’t explain, he acted indifferent. Liu Wanyu scolded him and left with Mai Chenghuan.

When Mai Laitian learned that Liu Wanyu had asked Chen Shuzhen for money, he couldn’t help but scold her. Yao Zhiming knew Chen Shuzhen wasn’t lacking money but still gave her a bank card for emergencies. Chen Shuzhen asked him to take good care of his non-blood-related “sister” Mai Chenghuan. Mai Chenghuan couldn’t sleep that night. After careful consideration, she decided to break up with Xin Jialiang and placed the engagement ring in a box.

Zhu Zheng used the excuse of an urgent matter at home to ask Mai Chenghuan to deliver some documents to Yao Zhiming downstairs. Without thinking much, she went down and saw a customer angrily arguing with the front desk over a reservation issue. She quickly stepped in to calm the customer with a fruit platter and helped rearrange the room with the front desk. Unfortunately, due to a conference, the hotel was fully booked.

Just as she was feeling helpless, she saw Yao Zhiming and asked him to give up his executive suite for the client. He agreed readily. The customer later wrote a thank-you post for Mai Chenghuan on the official site, and Zhu Zheng couldn’t praise her enough. To express her thanks, Mai Chenghuan invited Yao Zhiming for coffee. Yao Zhiming asked her to accompany him to visit Chen Shuzhen over the weekend. She gladly agreed, saying she often visited her.

Curious, Yao Zhiming asked why she treated Chen Shuzhen so well despite not being related. Mai Chenghuan replied that she already considered Chen Shuzhen her real grandmother and even made plans with Yao Zhiming to visit the nursing home regularly. Liu Wanyu prepared generous gifts and asked Mai Laitian to sound out Xin Zhishan’s opinion on the marriage. Reluctantly, Mai Laitian went without an appointment and was stopped by the receptionist.

Xin Zhishan, with his secretary, was heading to meet Yao Zhiming. Mai Laitian introduced himself as Yao Zhiming’s driver and offered to drive them. On the way, he probed Xin Zhishan’s opinion on the marriage. Xin Zhishan, learning that he and Yao Zhiming were relatives, wanted to use the marriage to secure a hotel bid. He later discussed the benefits with his wife Chen Dejing and decided to let Mai Chenghuan and Xin Jialiang get engaged first.

Mai Chengzao reported for duty at Fangyuan Law Firm. A senior assigned him to assist Lawyer Liu, who looked down on his school and background and mocked him publicly, leaving him embarrassed. Meanwhile, Chen Dejing secretly followed Liu Wanyu to the market and greeted her, even going home to learn how to make chili sauce. She apologized and flattered Liu Wanyu, asking her to speak well of them to Yao Zhiming so they could win the hotel bid. Liu Wanyu, unfamiliar with business, wanted to consult with Mai Laitian.
