The morning after Situ Mo was admitted to the hospital, Gu Weiyi woke up early to buy her breakfast. At a porridge shop, he specifically ordered white porridge, explaining to the owner that his friend had gastroenteritis and couldn't eat anything else. The shop owner was impressed by his thoughtfulness, remarking that her own husband was never so attentive, not even when he was pursuing her, never mind getting up at 6 AM.
While waiting, Gu Weiyi received a call from Fu Pei, who was at a training camp at South University of Science and Technology. Fu Pei asked him to deliver a pair of sneakers for an afternoon match, as his own were wet and the dorm rules forbade using a hairdryer. Gu Weiyi said he couldn't, as he was at the hospital. When Fu Pei pressed for details, Gu Weiyi revealed that Situ Mo had been admitted.
Back in Situ Mo's hospital room, she woke up to the white porridge Gu Weiyi had brought. He had also bought fried dough sticks, sesame balls, a baked roll, and salty tofu pudding for himself. Complaining that her stomach was empty after vomiting, Situ Mo begged for something other than the bland porridge, eyeing the other food. Gu Weiyi gave her a sharp look, silently refusing her request.
While Gu Weiyi was engrossed in his phone, Situ Mo tried to sneak a sesame ball. Just as she managed to pop it into her mouth, Dr. Liu entered. Gu Weiyi quickly moved to block Situ Mo from view, declaring, "Don't look at my girlfriend!" His statement made Situ Mo choke on the sesame ball. Dr. Liu observed the scene and the forbidden food on the table, then pronounced Situ Mo fit for discharge.
Gu Weiyi told her to wait while he completed the paperwork. Upon returning to the room, Gu Weiyi found Fu Pei already there. Fu Pei claimed coming was "a small matter," but in reality, he had faced multiple mishaps trying to get there, including a broken-down taxi and a dead e-bike, eventually resorting to public transport. Fu Pei asked why Gu Weiyi was the one who had brought Situ Mo to the hospital.
Situ Mo, wanting to conceal that she was staying at Gu Weiyi's apartment, lied and said she had simply run into him on the street and asked for his help. As they left the hospital, Dr. Liu saw Fu Pei with Situ Mo and asked where her "boyfriend" was, then turned to Fu Pei, asking if he was the helper the boyfriend had hired. Fu Pei was visibly confused.
Later, Fu Pei asked Gu Weiyi directly when he had become Situ Mo's boyfriend. Gu Weiyi dismissed it as a misunderstanding by the doctor. Fu Pei then teased Gu Weiyi, saying he only liked women like Marie Curie, which made Situ Mo chuckle. After dropping them off at Situ Mo's dorm entrance, Gu Weiyi saw Fu Pei's attentiveness towards her and decided to say goodbye and leave them.
Shortly after, Fu Pei ran into Wang Shan, Situ Mo's roommate, who revealed that Situ Mo no longer lived in the dorm, shocking Fu Pei. Meanwhile, in Prof. Jiang's lab, students Zhou Lei and Xie Yu Yin were having a dispute. Zhou Lei complained to Prof. Jiang and Mr. Wang that Xie Yu Yin had arbitrarily marked up his experiment report.
He argued that he was Prof. Jiang's student, not hers, and indignantly stated that he got into the lab through official channels, unlike Gu Weiyi who supposedly used "the back door." Xie Yu Yin explained she was merely correcting his mistakes and had cited Gu Weiyi as an example of someone who humbly accepted her guidance, never expecting such an overreaction. Both professors sided with Xie Yu Yin after reviewing the report. Gu Weiyi then entered, submitting his own report.
He also quietly informed Zhou Lei that his calculation method had issues, marking the corrections with a pencil and suggesting they discuss it later. Zhou Lei was further exasperated. Gu Weiyi was packing his belongings in his dorm, intending to go home for a week to focus on an experiment. Situ Mo messaged him, realizing she had left her key at his apartment and needed to retrieve her things. She asked him to accompany her.
Fu Pei saw them take a taxi together and, feeling suspicious, followed them discreetly in another taxi. Arriving at Gu Weiyi's apartment, Situ Mo mentioned she had washed his bedsheet the previous day, but it hadn't dried due to the rain. She offered to hang it up so it could dry. Gu Weiyi insisted she stay until it was dry so she could put it on the bed for him, claiming he couldn't do it himself.
Situ Mo accused him of being difficult but took the sheet to the balcony and called him to help. As Situ Mo swung the bedsheet to straighten it, Gu Weiyi misunderstood her movement as an attempt to hit him and let go of his end, causing the sheet to fly off the balcony. They went downstairs to retrieve it. Gu Weiyi struggled to hook the sheet with a long pole.
Situ Mo told him to "lift it up" (tiǎo qǐlái), but he repeatedly misheard and "jumped up" (tiào qǐlái). He insisted he was 1. 87m tall but still couldn't reach it. Eventually, the sheet fell and covered Situ Mo. As Gu Weiyi lifted it, they accidentally bumped into each other. Fu Pei witnessed this intimate moment from his taxi. He initially told the driver to leave but then changed his mind and went up to Gu Weiyi's apartment.
He confronted them, making sarcastic remarks about the empty fruit plate and offering to bring them watermelon, which he knew Situ Mo liked. He then put on a green cap, a visual metaphor for being cheated on, and commented that it suited him. He accused them of hiding their relationship and living together, claiming he was disturbing their "two-person world." Situ Mo, embarrassed and frustrated, clarified that she and Fu Pei were just friends.
Heartbroken, Fu Pei left, wishing Situ Mo happiness and acknowledging that Gu Weiyi suited her. He also mentioned he had a basketball game to get to. Upset, Situ Mo accidentally cut her hand on the fruit plate. Gu Weiyi went out to buy her a band-aid and, remembering Fu Pei's comment, also bought a large watermelon to cheer her up. They shared it with spoons, and Gu Weiyi secretly took a bite from her portion while she wasn't looking.
Later, Situ Mo received a call from her colleague, asking her to bring a report to the office immediately. As she prepared to leave, Gu Weiyi tried to get her a rubber band for her hair from a child in the hallway, but the child refused to share, ultimately making him pay 20 yuan for one.
