Despite his initial reluctance, Fu Pei accompanied Wang Shan to Si Tu Mo’s apartment. Upon their arrival, Si Tu Mo was deeply concerned for Gu Weiyi, who was suffering from a high fever. She offered him water and a thermometer. Gu Weiyi, feeling unwell, asked Si Tu Mo to stay by his side while he took his temperature, but she simply stated she would monitor him from a distance.
Setting a ten-minute timer, Gu Weiyi patiently waited, hoping Si Tu Mo would return. As soon as the timer went off, Si Tu Mo entered the room, checked the thermometer, and gently touched Gu Weiyi’s forehead. Gu Weiyi obediently sat still as she confirmed his high fever of 38. 3 degrees Celsius. Si Tu Mo insisted on taking him to the hospital, but Gu Weiyi, fearful of needles, stubbornly refused and stayed in bed.
With Gu Weiyi still ill, Si Tu Mo decided to go out to buy ingredients for porridge for him, specifically dried tangerine peel. Wang Shan, seeing an opportunity for the two to clear the air, suggested that Fu Pei accompany Si Tu Mo on this errand.
As they walked, Si Tu Mo received a call from Gu Weiyi’s mother, Aunt Xu, who explained that Gu Weiyi frequently falls ill with changes in weather and is terrified of injections, never agreeing to go to the hospital. Si Tu Mo assured her that Gu Weiyi had a fever but that she would take good care of him and make sure he took his medicine.
After the call, Fu Pei tried to initiate conversation by reminiscing about their high school days, particularly an incident where he was comically involved in someone fainting during a vaccination. Si Tu Mo, however, sharply retorted that she preferred seeing ghosts to seeing him, then firmly told him that she no longer liked him. She directly asked Fu Pei if he liked Wang Shan.
Fu Pei admitted he was unsure, which angered Si Tu Mo, who retorted, "You should go to hell!" Stunned and heartbroken, Fu Pei watched her walk away. Upon returning home, Si Tu Mo found a visibly upset Gu Weiyi on the sofa, giving her the cold shoulder. He sternly told her to notify him in advance if she brought friends home in the future, leaving Si Tu Mo baffled by his sudden coldness.
The next morning, Si Tu Mo checked if Gu Weiyi’s fever had subsided and offered him a bowl of white porridge she had made. Gu Weiyi, still acting distant, accepted the porridge but remained unresponsive, much to Si Tu Mo’s annoyance, leading her to sarcastically remark that he should ask his senior to take care of him if he preferred.
Meanwhile, Wang Shan accompanied Fu Pei to his CET-4 exam, having even scouted his exam room and prepared all necessary supplies for him. As he sat down to take the test, Fu Pei reflected on Si Tu Mo’s harsh words and Wang Shan’s unwavering support, realizing the depth of her feelings for him and that he had something to tell her after the exam.
Back at home, Si Tu Mo conducted experiments with various orange juices for a company advertisement, deliberately making noise to attract Gu Weiyi’s attention. Gu Weiyi eventually emerged from his room to get water but still avoided speaking to her. In the exam hall, Fu Pei diligently answered questions, remembering Wang Shan’s encouraging words to recheck his answers and not submit early.
Later, Xie Yuyin arrived at the apartment, stating she was sent by the laboratory to check on Gu Weiyi and deliver a package for him that had been sent to the lab. Gu Weiyi continued to ignore Si Tu Mo, but she maintained her composure and tidied the table, urging him to open the package.
It contained a microscope, which Si Tu Mo didn't recognize, but Xie Yuyin immediately identified it as a sophisticated polarized microscope with advanced functions, noting it was intended for the lab. Feeling overlooked and jealous, Si Tu Mo caused a commotion in the apartment. Oblivious to her irritation, Gu Weiyi casually mentioned that he and Xie Yuyin were going out for dinner and didn't invite Si Tu Mo.
During dinner, Gu Weiyi scrolled through Si Tu Mo’s social media and saw her post about finishing "a pot of porridge," along with comments from her friends. He suddenly realized that she had made the porridge for him out of concern, and a wave of emotion swept over him. He immediately left the restaurant to go home. He found Si Tu Mo downstairs, taking out the trash.
She instructed him to tear off the address label from the microscope package due to personal information, commenting that it was addressed to the "new campus," even though he worked at the old one. Just then, Xie Yuyin called Gu Weiyi with a question. Gu Weiyi, finding Si Tu Mo endearing as she diligently handled the trash, continued his conversation with Xie Yuyin, further fueling Si Tu Mo's jealousy.
Wang Shan confessed her feelings to Fu Pei again, admitting her deep affection for him but unsure of his feelings. Fu Pei, after some reflection, admitted that he was selfish and had been deceiving himself by pretending not to like her, especially after Si Tu Mo "scolded" him. He then confessed his strong feelings for Wang Shan and vowed to wait for her acceptance. Moved by his sincerity, Wang Shan happily agreed to be with him.
Back at the apartment, Si Tu Mo muttered to herself, still seething over Gu Weiyi’s interaction with Xie Yuyin. While pouring water, she accidentally broke a mug. Gu Weiyi immediately emerged from his room to help clean up, but Si Tu Mo loudly told him not to bother. When Gu Weiyi instructed her to clean the floor properly, Si Tu Mo retorted, "It’s definitely not as clean as your senior cleaned it!"
Gu Weiyi, misunderstanding her meaning, innocently agreed that Xie Yuyin always kept the lab perfectly clean. At that moment, their robot vacuum, Circle, charged forward to clean the broken glass and was accidentally damaged. Gu Weiyi tenderly picked up Circle, expressing concern for its injury. Still furious, Si Tu Mo sarcastically offered, "Do you want me to take its life?" The argument ended on a sour note.
Despite their lingering disagreement, Si Tu Mo couldn't bear to see Circle injured and later affixed a Doraemon bandage to it. Gu Weiyi, noticing the bandage, was touched. The next morning, both still maintained a polite distance. When Gu Weiyi arrived at the lab, Zhou Lei immediately pressed him about the microscope.
Gu Weiyi admitted he had forgotten it, prompting Prof. Jiang to playfully suggest that Gu Weiyi’s "girl" might have met her ex-boyfriend again, joking that this was the cause of his distraction. Just as they were speaking, Xie Yuyin arrived. Zhou Lei again brought up the microscope, and Xie Yuyin inadvertently blurted out that she had left it on Gu Weiyi’s side table.
Zhou Lei seized upon this, accusing Xie Yuyin and Gu Weiyi of excluding him from their research by going to Gu Weiyi's home alone. The two began bickering and stormed out. Prof. Jiang then advised Gu Weiyi that it was no wonder Si Tu Mo was upset; she was clearly jealous. Gu Weiyi, still clueless, took a moment to process this. Zhou Lei, the "God of Gossip," soon returned, much to Prof. Jiang’s exasperation.
Later, Si Tu Mo coincidentally encountered Xie Yuyin while topping up her student card at the cafeteria, and then again while they were both eating. During her meal, Si Tu Mo's friend probed whether she was concerned about Gu Weiyi spending time with Xie Yuyin, prompting Si Tu Mo to deny any worry, though her friend cautioned her that Gu Weiyi was attractive and others might pursue him.
Later, Xie Yuyin approached Si Tu Mo directly and asked if she was feeling better. She then stated that she did not appreciate Si Tu Mo's "self-sacrificing spirit," which was also affecting her. Finally, Xie Yuyin explicitly told Si Tu Mo that she hoped Si Tu Mo would leave Gu Weiyi's house.
