Prodigy Healer Episode 5 Recap
> Prodigy Healer Recap
Ye Yunshang, still arguing over who would hang a brocade banner with Qiao Zhen Tian, was interrupted by a staff member who reported that something terrible had happened. She rushed to her father, who informed her that several workers at their pharmaceutical factory had suddenly fallen ill with a strange disease. Mu Xingchen accompanied Ye Yunshang to the factory and quickly deduced that the workers had been stung by wasps.
The workers present confirmed seeing an unusually large and brightly colored wasp flying around before Old Chen, one of the affected workers, started acting strangely. While Mu Xingchen was contemplating a cure with a wasp he had captured for study, Ye's father's subordinates discovered it. Recalling Mu Xingchen's earlier advice against constructing the factory at that location, Ye's father immediately accused him of being behind the incident and had him taken to the police station.
At the station, the workers identified the wasp Mu Xingchen held as identical to the one that had stung them. Despite Chu Tianyao's attempt to vouch for Mu Xingchen's innocence, stating that he caught the wasp while they were gathering herbs, Qiao Zhen Tian, convinced by the "evidence," dismissed her claims and imprisoned Mu Xingchen. Inside his cell, Mu Xingchen was approached by Qi Fei, Qiao Zhen Tian's stuttering cousin and a detective.
Qi Fei, determined to find the source of the wasps, had armed himself and tried to investigate a wasp nest, only to get stung by a common wasp, leaving his face swollen. Mu Xingchen informed him that the wasp Qi Fei found was not the killer wasp responsible for the workers' injuries. Realizing his mistake, Qi Fei, without authorization, released Mu Xingchen and asked him to lead the way to the real wasps.
They returned to the factory site and, using a trap baited with blood, successfully lured a wasp. Following it, they discovered a large wasp nest and a hidden greenhouse, revealing that someone was intentionally breeding thousands of these poisonous insects. Mu Xingchen advised gathering more reinforcements before confronting the situation, a suggestion Qi Fei agreed with.
Upon learning that Qi Fei had released Mu Xingchen and found a clue, Qiao Zhen Tian, still suspecting Mu Xingchen, quickly led his own team to the greenhouse. However, as they approached, they were met with a fierce attack from a swarm of wasps, forcing Qiao Zhen Tian and his men to retreat. After they left, the mysterious wasp breeder appeared, collected some wasps, and then destroyed the greenhouse and the nest with an explosion before disappearing.
Back at Ye's clinic, the poisoned worker, Old Chen, died. A panicked messenger delivered the news, also mentioning that the police department's coroner had retired. Ye Yunshang stepped in to perform the autopsy. She found Old Chen's abdomen bloated, his joints deformed and cystic, and his internal organs filled with fluid and blood stasis, indicating rapid decomposition, which suggested a highly corrosive venom. More workers arrived, stung and in a frenzy, displaying behavior resembling wasps.
Ye Yunshang tried to calm them, observing that their movements mirrored wasp habits like mating, flying, or struggling with broken wings. She administered sedatives and attempted to treat them with Jie Ling grass, a powerful herb from the Shenmu Clan, as Mu Xingchen had previously suggested. Later, Qi Fei visited Mu Xingchen, presenting a three-color wasp he had caught.
Mu Xingchen confirmed it was a specific aggressive type that could survive in the outside world, unlike their clan's seven-colored wasps, and noted that this meant the victims were suffering from two different types of venom. Despite the Jie Ling grass being ineffective for the workers' worsening condition, Mu Xingchen assured Ye Yunshang he still had a plan. Meanwhile, Mei Jiao, the little elf Mu Xingchen had given to Ye Yunshang, began acting strangely, scratching herself uncontrollably.
Mu Xingchen used his magic to calm her down, realizing that his master must be nearby. He went to find his master, who was playing a Shenmu Clan instrument. His master sternly rebuked Mu Xingchen for breaking clan rules by venturing into the outside world and adopting a common appearance. Mu Xingchen defended his actions, stating he was following local customs and, more importantly, searching for a cure for their sacred Holy Tree, whose fate impacted the entire clan.
He also revealed the discovery of the highly venomous three-color wasps that had harmed many people in the city and asked if Jie Ling grass could help. His master explained that for ordinary humans, Jie Ling grass was a deadly poison if applied externally. He clarified that it had to be combined with sweet and warm herbs and administered as a pill to reduce its potency, only then could it alleviate wasp venom.
This explanation brought a sudden realization to Mu Xingchen, as he understood why his previous attempts to treat the workers had failed and even worsened their condition. With renewed determination, he playfully called his master "Father," used the distraction to evade him, and ran off. His master gave chase, and their pursuit led them into the street, where a burning ring of fire suddenly appeared, blocking Mu Xingchen's path.
