Officer Zhao Jiwei arrived with his Master, Officer Zhang Zhijie, at the Service Center for the Party and the People to conduct a basic investigation and check for any lingering issues from their previous case. Zhang Zhijie instructed Zhao Jiwei to wait inside. While waiting, Zhao Jiwei spotted a man known as Scar, the boss of a restaurant in Shangjiazhuang, hurrying past.

Zhao Jiwei discreetly followed Scar into a supermarket, where he discovered what appeared to be a gambling den in a back room. Just as he was about to investigate, Zhang Zhijie called, ordering him to return immediately. After the phone call, the supermarket owner approached Zhao Jiwei, inquiring if he was working on a case and inviting him to look around. Zhao Jiwei noticed Scar among the people casually drinking tea and chatting inside.

Upon returning to Zhang Zhijie, Zhao Jiwei reported his findings, reiterating his suspicion about Scar and the gambling sounds he heard earlier. Zhang Zhijie dismissed his concerns, reminding him of the Fengqiao Experience principle: police officers should not harbor prejudice against ex-convicts but instead focus on rehabilitation, legal education, and helping them become self-reliant. He sternly warned Zhao Jiwei against acting alone or disturbing Scar's life again. Zhao Jiwei reluctantly agreed.

Meanwhile, Yang Shu approached Cao Jianjun, apologizing and expressing his continued respect and eagerness to learn from him. Cao Jianjun downplayed the apology, sharing good news about the successful resolution of the Sun family's gang-related harassment, which was handled in cooperation with Majiagou Police Station. Yang Shu acknowledged Cao Jianjun's wisdom, and they prepared for a new call. Elsewhere, Li Dawei attempted to get Chen Xincheng's attention while Chen Xincheng was busy with paperwork.

Officer Zhang Zhijie approached Chen Xincheng, sarcastically asking to "borrow" his "beloved disciple," Li Dawei, for a "big case," clearly trying to show off. Li Dawei eagerly volunteered, but Chen Xincheng, seeing through Zhang Zhijie's antics, forbade Li Dawei from getting involved.

He explained that it was a standard Balihe Police Station tradition for all officers, regardless of experience, to consult with a Deputy Chief for any case, big or small, to ensure caution and proper resource allocation, as well as to ensure that all members of the station work as one team. Chen Xincheng revealed that Zhang Zhijie was simply boasting about being on the trail of a "big fish."

Cao Jianjun and Yang Shu responded to a dispute where a delivery driver was arguing with a security guard. The driver, who also rented an apartment in the community, was barred from entry while in uniform because he lacked a key card. The security guard insisted on property rules, and when asked, the driver couldn't produce his lease. The conflict escalated, and property management was called.

The property staff called the driver's wife to the scene, where she revealed that she was divorcing him. Overwhelmed with emotion, the delivery driver tearfully expressed his frustration, feeling that both the security guard and his wife looked down on him for his profession. He collapsed into sobs in a corner. Yang Shu immediately went to console him, explaining that it was all a misunderstanding and no one looked down on his job.

At the station, Ms. Wu frantically reported her twelve-year-old daughter, Jingjing, missing. She explained that after school, Jingjing had been reluctant to go to her math tutoring class, and Ms. Wu had scolded her. Now, Jingjing hadn't returned home from class, and her phone was off. Cheng Hao instructed Xia Jie to take down the details. Ms. Wu insisted that Jingjing was an obedient child who never disappeared and shared everything with her.

However, Xia Jie observed that Ms. Wu seemed overly controlling, suggesting that such strictness could be difficult for a child to bear. Offended, Ms. Wu became agitated and lashed out at Xia Jie. Cheng Hao quickly stepped in, calming Ms. Wu down. He took a photo of Jingjing and promised to organize a search of the school and nearby CCTV footage. Xia Jie continued to meticulously gather details from Ms. Wu, who grew increasingly agitated, concerned about the time passing.

Following standard procedure, Xia Jie requested a blood sample for potential DNA matching, should "anything happen." This suggestion enraged Ms. Wu, who accused Xia Jie of cursing her daughter and disrespecting her maternal concern, threatening to complain to Xia Jie's superiors. Cheng Hao quickly intervened again, pacifying Ms. Wu with a glass of water and assuring her of their full support. He then sent Xia Jie to check on the CCTV footage, effectively removing her from the tense situation.

After successfully calming Ms. Wu, Cheng Hao promised her that additional officers would be sent to search for Jingjing within the Wenge Garden community and review more surveillance footage. Needing more manpower, Cheng Hao then approached Gao Chao, who was preparing his team for another assignment. Gao Chao agreed to lend him two officers, Liu and Zeng, for the search. Cheng Hao then reassigned Chen Xincheng and Li Dawei to assist Gao Chao with his original mission.

Cheng Hao found Xia Jie and advised her not to take Ms. Wu's outburst personally, reminding her that police officers encounter all kinds of people. He then briefed the search teams, instructing one officer, Zeng, to visit Jingjing's school to inquire about her close friends, while others would canvass the Wenge Garden community and along the routes. Meanwhile, on their way back, Cao Jianjun prompted Yang Shu to reflect on their cases.

Yang Shu articulated that the key to the delivery driver's dispute lay in his marital issues, particularly with his wife, and that addressing that would resolve the conflict with the security guard. Cao Jianjun praised Yang Shu's keen observation and advised him on the importance of listening during interrogations and conversations, noting that the more a suspect talks, the more loopholes appear, and the more a party talks, the faster their anger dissipates.

Yang Shu further noted that the incident served as a public education moment, emphasizing that property management rules cannot supersede law. Impressed by Yang Shu's analytical skills and eloquence, Cao Jianjun encouraged him to write down his insights and experiences to inspire other officers. Gao Chao and Zhang Zhijie led a team of officers to execute an arrest. Zhao Jiwei, recognizing the supermarket where he had previously seen Scar, became visibly enthusiastic, seeing an opportunity to contribute significantly.

Gao Chao gave the order over the radio: all teams were to move in and storm the premises in five minutes once the door opened. Separately, after extensive searching, Jingjing was located at a classmate's house. Ms. Wu, relieved but still agitated, tried to compel Jingjing to return home immediately. However, Jingjing tearfully resisted, blaming her mother for always pushing her, and then broke free, running away from them all.

Back at the classmate's house, Ms. Wu angrily confronted the parent, accusing her of harboring Jingjing and threatening legal action. The classmate's parent retorted that Ms. Wu was responsible for her own child's behavior. Amidst the shouting, Jingjing seized the opportunity to flee again. Cheng Hao dispatched Xia Jie and another officer, Xu, to pursue Jingjing, while he stayed to mediate the argument between the two women. Meanwhile, at the supermarket, officers forced their way in.

They quickly subdued the gamblers inside. Zhao Jiwei searched frantically for Scar but couldn't find him. To his shock and fury, Li Dawei recognized his own father, Li Yisheng, among the detainees. Enraged, Li Dawei lashed out at his father, accusing him of being an incorrigible gambler and demanding his arrest. Li Yisheng tried to explain, but Li Dawei was too upset to listen. After searching the community, Xia Jie located Jingjing.

Jingjing was upset, telling Xia Jie she hated her for bringing her mother and that now she was too ashamed to face her friends, declaring all adults "bad people." Xia Jie empathized with Jingjing, acknowledging the girl's feelings, and shared that she also felt stifled by her own mother's strictness, then patiently advised Jingjing. Shortly after, Ms. Wu arrived, still fuming. She immediately lunged at Jingjing, attempting to hit her.

Xia Jie instinctively stepped in to shield Jingjing, taking a slap across the face from Ms. Wu. Ms. Wu dismissed it as an accident, blamed Xia Jie for interfering in their family matters, and threatened to file a complaint before forcibly dragging Jingjing away. Back at the station, Li Dawei immediately called his mother, expressing his frustration over his father's repeated gambling and urging her to sever all ties with Li Yisheng.

His mother, however, was more concerned about how Li Yisheng's arrest for gambling would impact Li Dawei's future as a police officer, leaving Li Dawei feeling helpless and questioning his destiny. Xia Jie, visibly distraught from being slapped, sat alone in the yard, having overheard Li Dawei's phone call. Li Dawei, also needing to clear his head, noticed her sorrow. He recognized a handprint on her face and immediately asked who had bullied her. Xia Jie then recounted her ordeal.

Li Dawei, trying to comfort her, bought several popsicles, suggesting that the coldness would numb the pain, a method he used when he was upset. Chen Xincheng, recognizing Li Yisheng among the gambling suspects, handed him over to Officer Ding for initial interrogation, specifically instructing Ding to keep the case isolated and that he would handle it later. Concerned, Chen Xincheng immediately went to report the grave situation to Chief Wang Shouyi.

He informed Wang Shouyi that Li Yisheng, Li Dawei's biological father, was involved in the gambling bust. Chen Xincheng expressed his worry that if Li Yisheng were found to be an organizer, Li Dawei's career would be completely jeopardized. Wang Shouyi shared his concern, lamenting Li Dawei's misfortune with such a father, especially given how hard his mother raised him and Li Dawei's cheerful personality despite his challenging upbringing.

Wang Shouyi asked Chen Xincheng to summon Zhang Zhijie for more details. Li Dawei then opened up to Xia Jie, expressing deep resentment toward his father, Li Yisheng. He felt that Li Yisheng had disappeared from his life years ago, especially after his police academy training, and that his father had only reappeared now to cause trouble, just when Li Dawei no longer needed him. Xia Jie listened empathetically, then shared her own contrasting feelings. She confessed that she often wished her own father, who died in the line of duty, could come back, just so she could tell him how much she missed him.
