Zhang Haiqi and Zhang Hailou carry out their daring plan to infiltrate Mo Yungao's special train as it speeds through a dark mountain tunnel. Waiting in the shadows, they have a mere twenty seconds to make their move. They successfully leap onto the moving carriage, swiftly neutralizing two unsuspecting guards who were casually discussing their post-trip drinking plans.
To blend in, Zhang Hailou uses his disguise skills to assume the face of one of Mo Yungao's personal bodyguards, while Zhang Haiqi deliberately plays the role of an injured captive to be taken directly to the warlord. The disguised Zhang Hailou delivers a telegram from Zhang Qishan to Mo Yungao.
In the message, Zhang Qishan warns the warlord that a Zhang family woman had approached him seeking to cooperate in finding evidence of Mo Yungao's corruption, and that he is handing her over to Mo Yungao to handle. Mo Yungao, reading between the lines, suspects Zhang Qishan is merely trying to clear his own name of any association with the mysterious Zhang clan. He then orders the captured intruder to be brought to his presence.
Upon seeing her, Mo Yungao immediately recognizes her as Zhang Haiqi, the Director of the Southern Archives. Mo Yungao reveals his obsession with the ancient Zhang clan and the legend of an extraordinary prodigy whose existence threatens the entire family. While Zhang Haiqi argues that no such savior exists and that Mo Yungao himself is the only true threat, the warlord explains his ultimate goal.
He is not interested in ordinary Zhangs, but in one specific individual whose vital files must be buried within the Southern Archives. Though Zhang Haiqi claims she has already destroyed the archives, Mo Yungao remains confident that his target will eventually emerge as more and more Zhang family members continue to disappear. Mo Yungao writes out a reply for Zhang Qishan and hands it to Zhang Hailou, instructing him to send it immediately.
However, Zhang Haiqi's attention is drawn to several snakes slithering around the room. Mo Yungao proudly explains that these are Fidelity Snakes, specially trained to detect and attack disguised outsiders, meaning he knew Zhang Hailou was an impostor from the very beginning. He warns Zhang Haiqi that a lethal powder ground from Twilight Grass blossoms, which he calls Yellow Jasmine, is hidden beneath her sofa and has already paralyzed her.
Unbeknownst to the warlord, Zhang Haiqi belongs to the elite Hai branch of the Zhang family, possessing the unique ability to survive on minimal breath. Holding her breath to avoid inhaling the toxic powder, she overpowers Mo Yungao, locking him in a chokehold to demand the locations of his planned poisonings. Meanwhile, Zhang Hailou searches the train for Mo Yungao's biological weapon.
He stumbles into a horrifying cultivation room filled with glass jars containing severed arms of various Zhang family members, including Zhang Haitong and Zhang Haiqing, being used as fertilizer to grow the parasitic Twilight Grass. Before he can destroy them, he is confronted by Bai Yu, who fiercely attacks him.
Confusing her with her twin sister, Zhang Hailou tries to talk his way out of the fight by bringing up their past connection on the ship Nan'an, claiming he had helped her escape. When another soldier runs in and calls her Bai Yu, Zhang Hailou realizes she is actually the identical twin of the assassin Bai Zhu.
Desperate to stop the disaster, Zhang Hailou warns Bai Yu that the spread of the Twilight Grass will inevitably kill her sister, who is currently in Xiacheng. Shaken, Bai Yu explains Mo Yungao's fail-safe plan: suicide squads stationed across various cities will release the poison upon receiving a coded telegram, or automatically next Monday at noon.
To Zhang Hailou's horror, she reveals that the telegram he just sent was not a message to Zhang Qishan, but Mo Yungao's actual encrypted order to launch the attack. Realizing the gravity of his mistake, Zhang Hailou knocks Bai Yu unconscious to keep her safe and rushes to find Zhang Haiqi. The two Zhang family members reunite as the train nears Nanling Station.
While Zhang Haiqi takes over the communications room to transmit forged orders that alter the deployment schedule and locations, Zhang Hailou holds off the oncoming guards. Together, they leap from the train just before Zhang Hailou triggers a massive explosion that obliterates the carriage. Although Mo Yungao survives the blast and attempts to re-establish his command, his revised plans have already been intercepted.
Zhang Qishan receives the updated deployment data from the military frequency and immediately mobilizes local garrisons to hunt down the warlord's remaining forces. In Xiaojiang, Zhang Haixia leads his forces to raid the secret Twilight Grass cultivation base managed by Li Pinrui. Realizing they are under attack and that their communications have been jammed, Li Pinrui's men scramble to crack the enemy's neighboring-letter cipher, struggling against millions of possible key combinations.
By the time they realize their outer defenses have been dismantled, Zhang Haixia has already breached the facility. Confronted by Li Pinrui, who tries to threaten him and turn him into a test subject, Zhang Haixia remains undeterred. He unleashes the Twilight Grass he previously collected against Li Pinrui and his men, completely destroying the secret base once and for all.
