My Mowgli Boy Episode 8 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Tang Cheng confronts Chi Xu, who warns her about her disrespectful behavior and threatens to complain. Tang Cheng retorts, criticizing Chi Xu for failing in his responsibilities as a husband and calling him stupid and greedy for wanting everything doubled, leading to his failure in the divorce case. She tells him it's better to have only one wife. Chi Xu reiterates his threat to complain.
Tang Cheng defiantly tells him she's happy for his ex-wife and offers him an 80% discount for his next divorce case before gracefully tucking her business card into his pocket and walking away. Lu Ziyue, observing the scene, silently approves of Tang Cheng's actions. That evening, Zheng Li and Lu Ziyue meet Bai Yiling for street food. Zheng Li asks Lu Ziyue if Bai Yiling has truly moved on.
Lu Ziyue, citing experience with divorce clients, expresses concern that people often break down after the tension of a divorce, some becoming alcoholic, others crying uncontrollably, or even shaving their heads. Zheng Li doubts Bai Yiling would react that way, but Lu Ziyue challenges his understanding of her. When Bai Yiling arrives, she appears upbeat, ordering fifty kebabs and noting how delicious the street food tastes after a long time.
She playfully encourages them to eat, joking that they are shyer than old ladies at nearby tables. Zheng Li observes she seems fine, noting that people who eat well are usually not in a bad mood, and admits he and Lu Ziyue were worried she couldn't move past it. Bai Yiling affirms that divorce is about ending pain and embracing a new tomorrow. She then spontaneously sings a pop song, getting Zheng Li and Lu Ziyue to join her.
Zheng Li remarks on Lu Ziyue's terrible singing and jokingly plans to make him sing at his wedding. He compliments Bai Yiling's singing and suggests a company singing competition. Later, as Zheng Li drives Bai Yiling home, she silently leans out the car window, her earlier cheerfulness replaced by a somber and melancholic expression. Tang Cheng later asks Ling Xi about her relationship with Zheng Li, noting his attentive behavior towards Bai Yiling.
Ling Xi dismisses it as their usual back-and-forth pranks. Tang Cheng advises Ling Xi to take practical action if she truly likes Zheng Li, criticizing their childish games. She warns Ling Xi that she doesn't know Zheng Li's preferences or feelings and risks losing him to someone else if she doesn't act soon. Meanwhile, Mowgli, absorbed in watching forest videos, feels a profound homesickness, wondering where his real home is since he can't find it on maps or videos.
He pitifully hugs a pillow as he shares with Ling Xi that he misses the forest animals, especially a little wolf he and Grandpa Ranger once rescued. He learned that wolves are united and smart during his time with the injured wolf, and confirms that the wolf tooth he wears is from that animal and holds great significance. Seeing his distress, Ling Xi suggests reading to distract him.
Mowgli quickly devours several books, complimenting Ling Xi on her extensive knowledge and the usefulness of the books. Ling Xi, feeling drowsy, tries to leave, but Mowgli tries to get her to analyze his micro-expressions. She declines, telling him to go to sleep. Later, Mowgli studies micro-expressions in a mirror and sadly concludes that he genuinely misses his home.
Ling Xi secretly visits Bai Yiling, asking her to be friends because Zheng Li has been especially caring towards Bai Yiling and she is now the closest person to him. Ling Xi explains her history of playful rivalry with Zheng Li and hopes Bai Yiling can provide "intelligence" about his likes and interests so she can make an "unexpected move." Bai Yiling, seeing through Ling Xi's intentions, immediately asks if she loves Zheng Li.
Ling Xi denies it, but Bai Yiling advises her to confess, emphasizing that finding the right person is rare and missing the chance would be a greater regret than her own past. Ling Xi worries Zheng Li would think she's playing a trick, but Bai Yiling insists he'll never know her true feelings otherwise, adding that merely passing information won't help their relationship. Ling Yu, ignoring Ling Xi's call, is summoned by Gao Jie to view a luxurious apartment.
Gao Jie enthusiastically describes their future life there, envisioning him working and her watching him, and even planning a baby's room. Ling Yu's responses are lukewarm, focusing on practicalities rather than enthusiasm. Gao Jie confronts him, accusing him of lacking commitment to marriage and threatening to withdraw her family's business support that helps him at his stepfather's company.
Later, Ling Yu, sitting alone, reflects on his childhood, including his stepfather's strictness and his mother Wen Yu's constant pressure to excel to gain his stepfather's approval. Despite his earlier reluctance, he decides to propose to Gao Jie, informing his father of his decision. Chi Xu approaches Bai Yiling, acting as if they are still family, then attempts to delay court-ordered payments, citing his new child and financial difficulties. Bai Yiling, disgusted by his hypocrisy, demands an IOU with interest.
Chi Xu retaliates by demeaning her as a woman who "didn't know what she should be able to do," cruelly hinting at her infertility and questioning her worth. Bai Yiling, deeply hurt, fiercely defends her contributions to their home, reminding him of her efforts in furnishing it while he focused solely on work. Chi Xu dismisses their shared belongings as worthless. In response, Bai Yiling throws money at him, telling him to use it for his new child.
Chi Xu, angered, declares he won't pay. Ling Xi, having observed the entire humiliating encounter, calls Mowgli. Mowgli, using his observational skills, confirms Ling Xi is furious and planning something mischievous. Ling Xi confesses her anger and invites Mowgli to join her "bad idea." Together, they vandalize Chi Xu's house, with Ling Xi declaring she will split his house in two to satisfy his "two-timer" nature. Chi Xu unexpectedly returns, finding Ling Xi and Mowgli in his damaged home.
Chi Xu calls the police, and Ling Xi and Mowgli are brought to the police station, where Zheng Li, Bai Yiling, and Tang Cheng also arrive. Chi Xu portrays himself as a victim, describing his ruined home as if it were attacked by huskies, and demands justice and compensation from Bai Yiling. Zheng Li tells Chi Xu that while vandalism is wrong, he should know the reason behind it.
Chi Xu sarcastically remarks on Bai Yiling's "backup" and her acting skills. Ling Xi, furious, takes full responsibility for the damage, stating that she couldn't tolerate Chi Xu's behavior and that Bai Yiling had no involvement. Mowgli confirms her actions were voluntary. The police ask for their IDs, but Mowgli, triggered by the question, struggles to provide his name, recalling his past trauma. Ling Xi quickly steps in to state her name.
Meanwhile, Lu Ziyue sends Zheng Li a text, urging him to settle the matter privately to avoid serious legal trouble for Ling Xi. Zheng Li attempts to persuade Chi Xu to drop the case, but Chi Xu refuses to "suffer the damage for nothing." Tang Cheng confronts Chi Xu, calling him "scumbag" and accusing him of destroying Bai Yiling's life, demanding how he plans to settle that debt.
Chi Xu tries to dismiss Tang Cheng, but she asserts herself as Bai Yiling's friend. Chi Xu then insists on compensation for the damage. Bai Yiling, trying to de-escalate, offers to write off Chi Xu's original debt from her divorce settlement to cover the new damages. She also informs the police that as a co-owner of the property, she does not wish to press charges against her friends.
Chi Xu objects, arguing she's no longer an owner, but Lu Ziyue arrives, explaining that the divorce decree hasn't taken legal effect yet, making Bai Yiling still a co-owner for another seven days within the appeal period. Tang Cheng, confirming she is no longer Chi Xu's lawyer, sides with Bai Yiling. Faced with this legal clarity and unified front, Chi Xu eventually backs down.
Outside, Bai Yiling, with a troubled expression, thanks Ling Xi for standing up for her, then quickly leaves, followed by a somber Zheng Li. Back home, Ling Xi feels remorseful, wondering if she made a mistake and if Chi Xu will use it to evade his payments. Mowgli reassures her, affirming that punishing Chi Xu was right and that she felt satisfied doing so. Ling Xi then questions why Zheng Li looked disappointed, and Mowgli begins to explain.
