My Mowgli Boy Episode 7 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Tang Cheng encountered Lu Ziyue and initially assumed he was pursuing her, telling him that while their relationship might have improved, he shouldn't misinterpret things or follow her around. Lu Ziyue clarified that he was there to see Mowgli, declaring his intention to take Mowgli to "do what men do."
Tang Cheng, worried about his upcoming court case, questioned his priorities and accused him of being a bad influence on Mowgli, but Lu Ziyue asserted that there was no conflict between work and fun and that he would be a suitable male role model for Mowgli. Lu Ziyue took Mowgli to an archery range.
Although Lu Ziyue tried to instruct him on focus and hitting the target, Mowgli surprised him by consistently hitting bull's-eyes, revealing a natural talent for the sport. Mowgli then expressed a desire to learn more about words and their meanings, particularly compound terms like "eating the elders" and "house slaves."
Lu Ziyue patiently explained that "eating the elders" refers to young, capable individuals who rely on their parents or relatives, while "house slaves" are people who dedicate most of their earnings to mortgage payments, making life hard. Mowgli, with innocent concern, asked if Ling Xi was a "house slave" and empathized with her struggles, noting that it must be why she went to collect debts from her boss.
He then suggested that just as people who work hard for a house are "house slaves," those who strive for their friends could be "friend slaves," proclaiming that both he and Ling Xi were each other's "friend slaves." Lu Ziyue praised his ability to give inferences. Mowgli then asked Lu Ziyue to teach him how to write Ling Xi's name, showing his deepening affection and focus on her.
Meanwhile, Bai Yiling was moving her belongings when Zheng Li unexpectedly arrived, offering his help after completing nearby errands. He insisted that Bai Yiling rest, taking on all the strenuous chores himself, stating that she was "under the weather" and he was a "capable housekeeper."
Bai Yiling initially felt it was inappropriate for her boss to do her housework and tried to take over, but Zheng Li playfully urged her to treat him like a "little brother" and get some rest. While cleaning, Zheng Li mistakenly used bath lotion instead of toilet cleaner, creating excessive bubbles, a mistake Bai Yiling pointed out with amusement. Later, as they shared a hot pot dinner, Zheng Li complimented Bai Yiling's cooking.
He then inquired about her impending court session, reassuring her that the law would be fair and she would receive her rightful share. Bai Yiling, however, expressed her anxieties, lamenting that despite her ex-husband Chi Xu's betrayal, ending the marriage was difficult. She explained that a home functions as a safe haven for women, which they instinctively strive to maintain, and losing it meant an endless void of loneliness.
She confessed that she had sacrificed her career and friendships to center her life around her family, and now, with that center gone, she felt adrift and helpless. Zheng Li offered words of encouragement, suggesting that a better tomorrow awaited her, where she could meet someone new and build an even happier family, continuing her "nesting instinct." He raised a glass, toasting to her nesting instinct and their better tomorrow.
Back home, Ling Xi returned to find Mowgli, who had been sent back by Lu Ziyue, asleep at the table. His phone nearby displayed a list of words, indicating his diligent efforts to learn modern life. Ling Xi gently covered him with a blanket. The next day, Ling Xi and Mowgli attended a live interview with "Very Sexy Magazine" in front of her fans.
Mowgli, having undergone Ling Xi's training, presented himself as a true gentleman, pulling out her chair and exuding a boyfriend-like demeanor. Ling Xi promoted her new clothing line, emphasizing an eco-friendly theme with organic cotton and no fur elements, highlighting a jacket designed to be gender-neutral, which Mowgli modeled. She also announced a surprise for loyal fans: a couple's pajamas set.
During a "test on how much you know about the other" segment, Mowgli’s candid answers about the most romantic things he'd do for Ling Xi, such as helping her open a water bottle and telling her to "take my card to shopping" (mispronouncing "Sawatiika" but implying "swipe my card"), captivated the audience.
When asked why they chose to be together, Mowgli innocently revealed that Ling Xi had said she would "die without me," a statement born from her earlier emotional plea but understood by Mowgli as a declaration of profound affection. His sincerity deeply moved the fans and eased Ling Xi's initial apprehension. However, during a post-interview photo session with fans, the rapid flashes of cameras overwhelmed Mowgli.
Fragmented images of the forest, lonely little wolves, vast forests, and loud gunshots from cruel hunters flashed in his mind. He panicked and fled through the crowd. Ling Xi, seeing his distressed state and hearing the media speculate about his outburst, rushed to his side. She fiercely ordered the media to stop filming, pushing them away, and holding Mowgli's hand tightly, vowing to protect him. She led him into a nearby tent to escape the chaos.
Inside, Mowgli confessed his fear of gunshots. Ling Xi, recognizing a shared vulnerability, admitted her own childhood trauma: the distinct "bang" of a door closing. She explained that this sound was associated with her mother being taken away for surgery, never to return.
Later, after her father remarried, the sound of him closing the door each day before leaving for work signified her being left alone with Aunt Wen Yu, leading to self-isolation in her room, unable to accept her stepmother’s love. Mowgli, understanding their mutual pain, remarked that they were "different tunes, same wonderful result", a phrase Ling Xi corrected to "sharing the same plight", playfully chiding his idiom knowledge. Mowgli, however, found comfort in their shared experience, saying, "Now it's alright.
I can walk towards you. This is nice." Concurrently, Bai Yiling and Chi Xu's divorce case proceeded in court. Lu Ziyue, representing Bai Yiling, accused Chi Xu of infidelity with a third party who was about to give birth. Tang Cheng, representing Chi Xu, countered by presenting photos of Zheng Li helping Bai Yiling move, implying Bai Yiling also had an extramarital affair.
Lu Ziyue then presented a crucial piece of evidence: a recording of Chi Xu attempting to bribe him, where Chi Xu acknowledged his "mistakes" as something "every man makes" and discussed Bai Yiling's "congenital defect" preventing them from having children, indicating the marriage was doomed and he needed to consider "his child." Tang Cheng admitted the recording's authenticity but argued against its interpretation. She asserted that Chi Xu, despite his tough exterior, was internally vulnerable and suffering from "persecutory delusion."
She claimed his desire for a child was a delusion, exacerbated by Bai Yiling's "well-known reasons" (inability to have children), and that his words about having another child were a symptom of his mental state and his desperation to end the marriage, not proof of actual infidelity. She argued his statements reflected the heartache and helplessness he felt over his wife's "deficiency." The judge ultimately ruled that Bai Yiling and Chi Xu would divide their assets equally.
Outside the courtroom, an enraged Chi Xu confronted Tang Cheng, accusing her of incompetence and deliberately sabotaging his case, particularly by making him appear pitiable and delusional, despite her insistence that she had prevented a worse outcome for him. Tang Cheng retorted by calling him "ungrateful" and sarcastically congratulating him on potentially becoming a father to a child whose paternity was uncertain. Chi Xu, further incensed, threatened to complain about her.
