Mowgli, Ling Xi, Ling Father, and Wen Yu were enjoying a trip in the mountains. Mowgli felt an underlying sense of danger, even glimpsing a mysterious figure. Later, while Mowgli and Ling Xi were eating wontons at a small shop, Mowgli smelled gas and quickly turned off the valve, narrowly averting a disaster. Ling Xi was oblivious to the danger, casually complaining that she would have preferred to go to the market with her father.

She playfully accused Mowgli of filming her, to which he responded that he would turn her angry expressions into memes. Ling Xi then teased Mowgli, saying he was so tanned he looked like an ancient mythical beast. Ling Xi also learned from her father that Mr. and Mrs. Niu had experienced food poisoning, prompting her father to suggest taking them to the hospital for a check-up.

While walking in a field cutting reeds, the couple witnessed a mysterious black-clad figure attempting to steal a package from a parked car. Fortunately, the package's zipper was difficult to open, and the thief left empty-handed. Mowgli, increasingly uneasy, immediately ran back to check on Ling Father and Wen Yu's safety, breathing a sigh of relief when he learned they were fine. Later, Mowgli and Ling Xi sat on a small bridge, admiring a rainbow.

Ling Xi reflected on how city life had made her less sensitive to beauty and expressed a desire for a simpler life. Mowgli responded by saying that if he could only keep one thing in the world, it would be her, then he leaned in and kissed her. After the trip, the four traveled back by bus. Wen Yu's spirits had noticeably improved, which made Ling Xi happy.

Back in the city, Mowgli was in an elevator, examining a camcorder that Ling Xi had playfully used earlier. To his shock, he stumbled upon an old video recorded by Donghai. In the footage, Zheng Father confessed to killing the Ranger and asked Donghai to take the blame, promising to provide for Donghai's wife, child, and aging mother. Just as Mowgli grasped the gravity of Zheng Father's crime, the elevator suddenly malfunctioned, plummeting downwards.

Mowgli regained consciousness in a hospital, only to find the camcorder missing. Suddenly, Ling Xi’s scream echoed from outside his room. She had accidentally bumped into someone, suffering a deep cut on her wrist that almost severed an artery. Horrified, Mowgli rushed to the surveillance room. The footage confirmed his suspicions: it was not an accident but the same black-clad figure who had deliberately collided with Ling Xi and used a sharp object to wound her.

Meanwhile, Zheng Father met Donghai by the sea. Zheng Father was holding the very camcorder Mowgli had lost. He deleted the incriminating video and cast the device into the ocean. It became clear that Zheng Father had dispatched the mysterious assailant to harass Mowgli and Ling Xi. Shortly after, Donghai arrived. Now that the video evidence was destroyed, Zheng Father's demeanor hardened, and he refused to concede to any of Donghai's demands, including handing over his company to Ling Yu.

Donghai angrily reminded Zheng Father that his prosperity was built on his family's suffering and threatened to expose him, but Zheng Father simply scoffed, knowing the camcorder was gone. Just then, Mowgli called Donghai, seeking detailed information about the old case. Donghai, using his real name, Ding Jianxiong, gave Mowgli a location in the forest, suggesting they meet there.

After hanging up, Donghai revealed to Zheng Father that he had never discarded the two murder weapons from that fateful day; instead, he had buried them in the forest. Enraged, Zheng Father lunged at Donghai, and a violent struggle ensued, ending with Zheng Father killing Donghai. Separately, Lu Ziyue presented all his earnings to Tang Cheng, who was deeply touched.

However, her joy turned to anger when she learned that Lu Ziyue had even taken on the cases of disreputable individuals like Zhou Junchi and Zhang Guanting to earn money, viewing it as a betrayal of his principles. After a heartfelt discussion, they reconciled, reaffirming their affection for each other. Lu Ziyue explained that a lawyer's duty is to win cases for their clients, but Tang Cheng insisted that he shouldn't abandon his principles for money.

He told her that he didn't want to see her suffer or be wronged, and she expressed her happiness that he cared so much about her. Ling Yu received a call from his biological father, Donghai. In his dying breath, Donghai managed to tell his son that the two guns were buried "east of the crime scene." Ling Yu frantically tried to get more information, but Donghai succumbed to his injuries.

Sensing something was terribly wrong, Ling Yu went to the police station to report his father missing, only to discover that Mowgli had already done so. Mowgli explained that he had arranged to meet Donghai in the forest, but Donghai never showed up, prompting him to contact the police. Ling Yu, while initially resentful of his biological father, admitted to Mowgli that he didn't want to lose him again, revealing a deep conflict in his emotions.

He expressed his deep concern, telling Mowgli that Zheng Weijue was a cunning and ruthless man who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, even using Ling Yu and Donghai as pawns. He worried that Zheng Weijue would betray anyone who stood in his way, including Ling Xi and Zheng Li. Ling Yu vowed to find the crucial evidence—the buried guns—and bring Zheng Weijue to justice.

Mowgli embarked on a solitary search for the buried guns in the forest, meticulously calculating the directions "east," "northeast," and "southeast" based on Donghai's last words. However, he found nothing. He realized that without Zheng Father's precise knowledge of the crime scene, locating the weapons was an impossible task. The escalating danger surrounding him made Mowgli increasingly fearful for Ling Xi's safety.

He confronted Ling Xi, who questioned his secretive behavior and past disappearances, recalling the gas leak and her recent injury. With a heavy heart, Mowgli decided to break up with her. He told a heartbroken Ling Xi that he was tired of her bossiness, likening her to a tyrant like her father.

He claimed that being with her was more exhausting than living in the wild and that he only saw her flaws, which meant he no longer loved her enough. Ling Xi was left in tears, utterly bewildered by his sudden and painful words, trying to apologize and offer to change.
