Ling Xi found herself stressed while calculating the costs for forming her new team. She tried to call Mowgli for comfort, wanting affection, but his phone was unreachable. Checking his work schedule, she realized with alarm that the opening ceremony he was attending would involve fireworks, which could deeply frighten Mowgli due to his sound sensitivity. Rushing out to find him, Ling Xi called Li Yuheng, scolding him for including fireworks in the ceremony and for Mowgli being unsupervised.

Li Yuheng, bewildered, clarified that the undertaking party was responsible for the ceremony details and found her reaction exaggerated, noting that a person wouldn't be "terrified to death" by fireworks. Ling Xi eventually found Mowgli on a pedestrian bridge, relieved to see he had cleverly worn earplugs, so he was unharmed.

Mowgli explained that as a "social man," he had learned to face difficulties head-on, even finding the earplugs useful for blocking out Ling Xi's snoring, a claim she immediately denied. Meanwhile, Zheng Li and Bai Yiling worked late at the company. Zheng Li's father, Mr. Zheng, saw them and inquired about their long hours. Zheng Li explained that their previous post-production partner had issues, and they were scrambling to find a replacement.

Bai Yiling took responsibility, stating she hadn't considered all factors. Mr. Zheng didn't blame them, advising them to keep looking and be flexible with pricing if necessary. He also invited both of them for dinner at his home over the weekend to visit Zheng Li's mother. As Mr. Zheng prepared to leave, he was surprised to find his old friend Donghai in the backseat of his car, just released from prison after twenty years.

They went to a small eatery for noodles with pickled mustard and yellow croaker, a dish Donghai used to love. Donghai reflected on how much things had changed – the restaurant had been renovated, the owner was different, and he himself was so changed he felt unworthy to even carry Mr. Zheng's shoes. Mr. Zheng tried to reassure him that he was still the same person to him.

Mr. Zheng then took Donghai to his old house, which he had kept for him. He revealed that he had cared for Donghai's mother but hadn't told Donghai about her passing, hoping it would motivate him to get out of prison earlier. He gave Donghai his mother's last letter, a phone, and a bank card.

Donghai, feeling the dramatic changes in the city, expressed a desire to move east to a seaside town for retirement, following a fortune teller's prediction from long ago. Mr. Zheng offered to book his flight and, if he wished, arrange a meeting with Donghai's son, who worked at Wharf. Donghai only wished to see his son from a distance.

Back at Wharf, with their partner issue escalating, Zheng Li and Bai Yiling met with Chi Xu, hoping his company could take on the urgent project. Zheng Li, aware of Chi Xu's past relationship with Bai Yiling, told Bai Yiling to let him handle the negotiations. Chi Xu arrived late, explaining he was busy like a "whipped spinning top" with many small projects.

He regretfully declined Wharf's offer, despite its allure, explaining that accepting it would mean breaking his current contracts and incurring liquidated damages that would ruin his small company. Bai Yiling, taking charge, immediately offered to cover all of Chi Xu's liquidated damages, compelling him to accept the project. As Chi Xu later entered the Wharf building, he briefly made eye contact with Ling Yu, who seemed unsurprised.

At home, Ling Xi was celebrating her excellent performance in her recent courses, boasting six A+ grades out of eight. However, Mowgli quickly outshone her with eight A+ grades, proudly stating he had sacrificed sleep to catch up on his studies and was greatly encouraged by his report card.

Ling Xi playfully complained about being "defeated" once again, referencing Tang Cheng from her junior middle school days, and joked that Mowgli would eat her out of house and home if the training lasted longer. Their playful banter was interrupted by a sound from the sofa, where they found Chu Shi lying motionless. Tang Cheng explained that Chu Shi had been there all day, not eating or drinking. Ling Xi, concerned, asked if she had lost her job.

Chu Shi revealed she had resigned and, more painfully, "lost her love." To cheer her up, Ling Xi, Mowgli, and Tang Cheng took Chu Shi to a hotpot restaurant. During the meal, Tang Cheng video-called Lu Ziyue, promising to quit drinking to become his "perfect partner." As Chu Shi drank more, she began to reveal details about her beloved, insisting he wasn't a "scum" but someone who cared for her "like a brother."

She described him as an "erudite man that knows everything," a "good teacher and friend" whom they all knew. She also mentioned he had "two dimples, one deep and one shallow" when he smiled. Despite their persistent questions, Chu Shi refused to reveal his name. On her way to the restroom, in a drunken haze, Chu Shi briefly mistook Mowgli for Ling Yu, wondering if she was hallucinating due to liking him too much.

Unbeknownst to her, Ling Yu was hiding nearby, watching her, his heart aching. Later, as Ling Xi walked Chu Shi home, Chu Shi revealed Mowgli's deep love and sacrifice. She told Ling Xi that Mowgli's true dream was environmental work, working with animals and forests, but he had given it up for a more stable, higher-paying job at Mozi to become Ling Xi's unwavering support, enabling her to pursue her own dreams without financial worries. Ling Xi was deeply moved.

Ling Xi then gently advised Chu Shi, telling her not to blame herself for the heartbreak. She explained that people are like "two sparkling stars" in the galaxy, and finding someone who sees them happens only once in "hundreds of millions of years," making such a connection precious. Ling Xi encouraged Chu Shi to see this as a test from fate, assuring her that her "Mr. Right" would appear.

Ling Xi advised her to either bravely hold onto her love if she truly liked him or cut ties completely if she didn't, suggesting she imagine him as her favorite food and "eat him up" to make herself feel better. Chu Shi seemed to feel a little better, even jokingly asking for more food after feeling hungry again. Later that night, Ling Xi discovered Tang Cheng secretly knitting a sweater.

Tang Cheng, flustered, tried to hide it, embarrassed that Ling Xi would tease her for becoming a "virtuous woman." Ling Xi, however, was genuinely happy for her friend, seeing that Tang Cheng had finally found the right person and hoping they would even have a joint wedding. Meanwhile, Ling Yu ran frantically through the night, trying to outrun his emotional pain, but found himself unable to escape his feelings for Chu Shi.

He spent the entire night sitting outside Chu Shi's building. The next morning, as Chu Shi came out to skateboard, she saw Ling Yu. He immediately embraced her, confessing his deep affection, apologizing, and promising to handle all his affairs to be worthy of her love. As Chu Shi wept, Mowgli suddenly appeared, pushing Ling Yu away.

He warned Ling Yu not to hurt Chu Shi, questioning his right to be there and asking what Ling Yu could offer her besides pain, telling him to keep his "damned feelings" to himself.
