My Mowgli Boy Episode 33 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Zheng Li's mother visited him at his company. As Zheng Li was in a meeting, she was introduced to Bai Yiling, Zheng Li's secretary, and they went to the cafe downstairs to chat. Zheng Li's mother, eager to learn more about her son, engaged Bai Yiling in conversation, finding her charming and intelligent. She openly praised Bai Yiling, acknowledging her divorce and age positively, even remarking that any man who married her would be blessed.
However, she then shifted to Zheng Li's love life, expressing regret that he and Ling Xi didn't work out and even tried to enlist Bai Yiling's help to set them up again. Meanwhile, Zheng Li was on a phone call with a friend when he received a text message about his mother being in the cafe with Bai Yiling. Realizing the situation, he abruptly ended the call and rushed downstairs.
Unable to tolerate his mother's meddling any longer, Zheng Li explicitly revealed that Bai Yiling was his girlfriend. His mother was shocked, then furious. Despite her earlier praise, she vehemently refused to accept Bai Yiling for her age and divorced status, declaring that she would never agree as long as she lived. She then stormed home to complain to Zheng Li's father, accusing him of keeping their son's relationship a secret.
Zheng Li's father calmly defended their son's choice, suggesting that while Bai Yiling might be older, her work experience and wisdom made her a good match. He advised his wife against interference, cautioning that excessive meddling could have the opposite effect. He even playfully suggested that if Bai Yiling married Zheng Li, she would take good care of their son, and his wife could pass on her skincare tips.
Later, as Bai Yiling worked late, Zheng Li brought her instant noodles. He reassured her, telling her not to worry about his mother, whose anger had subsided thanks to his father's intervention. He made light of their relationship being public, saying it was better now than on their wedding day. Bai Yiling, however, confessed her deeper anxieties, wondering if Zheng Li would still love her when she was older or if he would eventually want children.
Zheng Li seriously affirmed his commitment, assuring her that age and children were not important and that she was the most important person to him. He explained that his father was like a "quick-acting pill for heart resurrection" and "pork ball" for his mother, always managing to calm her down. Feeling relieved and happy, Bai Yiling then sweetly suggested approving Chi Xu's newly formed team for a campaign, citing the benefits of comparison and her own "selfish motives."
Zheng Li, however, flatly refused, stating his dislike and distrust of Chi Xu and his reluctance to have him near Bai Yiling. Bai Yiling, understanding his feelings, accepted his decision. Meanwhile, Ling Xi was distraught after failing to reassemble her team. She reported her setback to Li Yuheng, who informed her that if she couldn't form a team, she'd have to wait another year for project funding.
The news devastated Ling Xi, who worried about the costs and the risk of someone else launching a similar platform. When Li Yuheng offered her a spicy fish head, she took it, claiming it was unhealthy for his cold, then complained about her financial struggles and being a "freeloader."
Her former team member, Ren He, was on a phone call with Tutu, expressing how engrossed she was in working under her idol, praising her idol's unique design philosophy, too much to consider rejoining Ling Xi. Ren He, Tutu, and Li Kai later visited Ren Grandma in the hospital, where the grandmother revealed that Ling Xi had already visited her, suggesting Ling Xi had paid her a visit to understand Ren He's situation better.
Mowgli found Ling Xi crying alone, eating the spicy fish head. She tried to hide her sadness, blaming the "abnormally spicy" food for her tears, but Mowgli gently comforted her, knowing her true pain. He offered to eat the spicy fish with her and then suggested she form a new team. Ling Xi, consumed by self-doubt, expressed her fears about finding and convincing new team members without any money or influence.
She even wondered if she had made a mistake by not joining her father's company, believing she would have developed a more tactful personality and avoided her current predicament. Mowgli, however, strongly refuted her self-criticism, reminding her that he was her unwavering "old fan" who supported her. He playfully argued that her "imperfect" personality was what allowed him to "show his charm as her boyfriend."
He then firmly declared that he would not allow her to do anything she didn't want to do, promising to support her dream for as long as it took, even ten years, as he had many job offers and could easily provide for them. Ling Xi, touched by his unwavering commitment, expressed her gratitude and resolve to "return to zero" and try again, knowing his plans for their future remained unchanged.
In a separate development, Tang Cheng and Lu Ziyue met to handle the divorce case for Mr. and Mrs. Yi. Mr. Yi expressed his exhaustion from Mrs. Yi's erratic behavior, especially since she had recently found an old pair of shoes. To everyone's surprise, Mrs. Yi, also tired of years of conflict, announced that she agreed to the divorce.
She explained that finding the old shoes, which her husband gave her when they were young, helped her realize she had romanticized them over time and forgotten their original state. Having found them, she felt ready to honor her promise to divorce. She then, along with Mr. Yi, proceeded to amicably divide their household possessions, displaying an unexpected level of deference and politeness toward each other, contrasting sharply with their previous disputes.
Tang Cheng bid farewell to Lu Ziyue after the divorce settlement. Later, Lu Ziyue confided in Mowgli that he still hadn't moved on from Tang Cheng, but felt helpless because he never knew her true feelings. Mowgli hinted that Tang Cheng's heartbreak suggested her feelings were indeed genuine, as he had seen her distress when she was heartbroken. Mowgli also mentioned to Lu Ziyue that he had chosen to prioritize Ling Xi's dream over a highly anticipated job opportunity.
That night, as Ling Xi excitedly shared her renewed opportunity (granted by Li Yuheng) with Mowgli, he in turn announced he had secured a job at Mozi Capital, reassuring her of his ability to provide for them. Lu Ziyue unexpectedly arrived shortly after, carrying a drunken Tang Cheng.
Tang Cheng, in her inebriated state, passionately recited classical poetry, lamenting why Lu Ziyue didn't approach her, why he ignored her, and why he pushed her away, clearly revealing her deep affection for him.
