My Mowgli Boy Episode 16 Recap
> My Mowgli Boy Recap
Tang Cheng awoke from a dream where she passionately kissed Lu Ziyue, feeling shy and bewildered by her feelings for the "bookworm." A knock on her door startled her, and she was both surprised and thrilled to find Lu Ziyue standing there. Her heart pounded as she quickly tidied her apartment before inviting him in. Lu Ziyue explained his visit was to discuss a law case, but Tang Cheng was more interested in romance.
She leaned closer with a smile, yet Lu Ziyue, ever the straight man, remained oblivious to her subtle advances. He even commented, "Did you just wake up and have no time to brush teeth and wash face?" leaving Tang Cheng exasperated. Meanwhile, Mowgli, seeking more attention, began to feign illness. Ling Xi, in her attempt to care for him, prepared kelp soup and piled numerous blankets on him, believing sweating would aid his recovery.
Mowgli, however, found himself suffering from her well-intentioned but misguided care, lamenting that kelp was cold and he would "become kelp" if he drank any more. Ling Xi insisted he take a mouthful. In a similar vein, Tang Cheng pretended to have a sore back, hoping Lu Ziyue would massage her. Lu Ziyue, ever literal, proceeded to give her a rigorous massage, causing Tang Cheng to yelp in pain.
Frustrated, Tang Cheng repeatedly hinted at her true intentions, and Lu Ziyue finally seemed to understand. However, he quickly panicked and fled her apartment, muttering about almost making a mistake and having a narrow escape, which left Tang Cheng in a state of amused exasperation. After his hasty departure, Lu Ziyue ran into Mowgli, and they decided to grab a meal together. Mowgli, sensing Lu Ziyue's confusion, offered to listen.
Lu Ziyue indirectly described his encounter with Tang Cheng, prompting Mowgli to sagely conclude that Tang Cheng desired a "close relationship" with him. Mowgli explained that in the forest, a wolf chooses only one partner for life, suggesting Tang Cheng might feel the same. Lu Ziyue, however, was skeptical, recalling Tang Cheng had explicitly stated she didn't like him.
Mowgli countered that feelings can change, reminding Lu Ziyue of his earlier advice that animals express affection through physical touch by rubbing, touching, and scratching. Lu Ziyue pondered this, then declared with certainty that Tang Cheng's behavior was "like a wolf," suspecting she might be an animal spirit cultivated into human form. Later, over drinks, Mowgli confided in Lu Ziyue that he might soon return to the forest.
He expressed a deep reluctance, admitting that after experiencing life outside the forest, he felt too many new connections to leave easily. Previously, his world revolved around survival and protecting the forest, but now, seeing how others lived with their families, he was prompted to question his own origins. He wanted to know "where I come from." Across town, Tang Cheng and Ling Xi, wearing facial masks, discussed their romantic lives.
Tang Cheng probed Ling Xi about her feelings for Mowgli, suggesting they went beyond mere friendship. Ling Xi, however, stubbornly denied it, claiming she was only kind to him because he had saved her and that he was just a "silly forest boy" from the forest. She dramatically declared herself heartbroken after a recent breakup and vowed to "stick to" Tang Cheng for life if her heart broke again, making Tang Cheng support her.
Tang Cheng then subtly suggested it was time to send Mowgli back to the forest, now that Ling Xi's studio crisis was resolved. Separately, Ling Yu apologized to Wen Yu for his impulsive remarks, assuring her that his words didn't reflect his true feelings.
Wen Yu understood and gently informed him that she had already told his father about his secret investment in Gao Jie's family project, reminding him that their family was truly his home and that his father cared for him, urging him not to utter hurtful words again. Ling Yu then spoke with his father, admitting his impetuous decision to invest in Gao Jie's project without prior consultation. He quickly added that the project was progressing smoothly.
His father, however, was less concerned with the investment itself than with Ling Yu's "original intention," expressing his hope that Ling Yu's marriage to Gao Jie would be founded on genuine affection, not material interests. He sternly advised Ling Yu never to feel inferior in any relationship, emphasizing that dignity was paramount. Ling Yu pondered whether he truly possessed dignity. A despondent Ling Yu sought solace in a remote area, flying his drone.
By chance, he recorded a vibrant young woman, Chu Shi, skateboarding. Her lively spirit invigorated him. Chu Shi, an exchange student, arrived in China with a clear goal: to find a "refined Chinese-style boyfriend," much like the poet Li Bai—eloquent, elegant, and non-superficial. She stumbled upon Lu Ziyue at the university and was instantly captivated, even imagining him in traditional Chinese attire.
Boldly, she approached him, introduced herself as Chu Shi, and explained her quest for Chinese culture, food, scenic spots like Mountain Huaguo, and now, his contact information, determined to pursue him. Lu Ziyue, attempting to win Tang Cheng's favor, brought her gifts. Unsure what women liked, he presented her with a large assortment of office supplies, which only made Tang Cheng laugh in exasperation.
He called her to confirm she received the gifts and informed her he would pick her up at 6 p. m. for their "first formal date." When they met, Lu Ziyue inquired about her dinner preference, suggesting Japanese cuisine, then hotpot, then vegetarian options. Tang Cheng rejected all, citing reasons like not eating cold food, being on a diet, or finding it too bland. Finally, she suggested they go to the gym instead. At the gym, as Tang Cheng worked out, a male staff member made inappropriate comments about her body. Seeing this, Lu Ziyue angrily stepped forward, confronting the staff member.
