Mowgli woke to find Ling Xi gone. He remembered her father's words that when Ling Xi was upset, she would run up and down the stairs until she fainted. Sure enough, Mowgli found her there. He tried to dissuade her from her self-destructive act, worried about her heart, but Ling Xi fiercely told him to leave her alone and stop following her, threatening to commit suicide if he didn't. Unable to stop her, Mowgli could only let her be.

When Ling Xi tired, she sat alone, spacing out on the rooftop. Mowgli joined her, acknowledging her unhappiness. He gently reminded her of her many strengths, like her delicious steak, sunny disposition, kindness, and independence. He noted that while Zheng Li might not appreciate these qualities, he did, and many others, like Tang Cheng and her father, cared for her. He asked her to stop feeling sad.

Ling Xi's eyes welled with tears as she recalled that evening when Zheng Li had apologized for being so slow to recognize her feelings and for letting her waste so much time on him. He confessed his greatest fear was that their relationship would never be the same. He assured her he would always be her "Zheng Li ge" (brother) and would be there for her if she ever needed anything.

He then handed her a large box, filled with mementos of her long-standing affection for him. He explained that although he believed returning her items was the best outcome, it wasn't what she truly needed. He told her if erasing him from her life would help her heal, she should do so. Ling Xi, crying, stood and told him she had no regrets about her twenty years of devotion. She simply wished for him to find happiness.

She affirmed that she felt happy for the many years of his companionship, likening it to flying, and stated that she was now ready to land. Zheng Li, in turn, advised her never to fall for someone as foolish and oblivious as him again. Ling Xi then made him promise to find someone who loved him more than she did, or she wouldn't be reconciled.

Back in the present, Ling Xi looked out at the serene city and realized it was time to turn the page. Zheng Li and her youth were now just memories scattered in the wind, impossible to reclaim. Meanwhile, Gao Jie met with Ling Yu to discuss investments. Ling Yu, still bitter, vented his frustration, feeling his father cared for Ling Xi while neglecting him.

Gao Jie noted that his father outwardly chastised Ling Xi but secretly cared for her, unlike his apparent indifference towards Ling Yu. She expressed disbelief that his father would let such a good investment opportunity slip by, especially when Ling Xi’s "stupid" actions went unchecked while his legitimate business ventures were opposed. Ling Yu, convinced his father would never acknowledge his efforts, declared he would stake everything he owned on investing in Gao’s business district.

Gao Jie enthusiastically supported his decision, reminding him that he wouldn't be dependent on others now that he had her support. She then suggested they play tennis to cheer him up, confidently stating she'd been practicing for him. Elsewhere, Lu Ziyue sought out Tang Cheng. Tang Cheng, inside her apartment, cringed at the memory of impulsively kissing him, wondering why she had provoked such an unexciting person. Her heart pounded as she abruptly shut the door.

Undeterred, Lu Ziyue calmly spoke through the door, offering to collaborate on the law firm case he had taken from her. He then left a stack of documents on the ground, along with a bowl of papaya and tremella soup. After he left, Tang Cheng opened her door and smiled, finding him rather endearing. Mowgli joined Ling Xi as she prepared to discard her small gifts and diaries.

Though reluctant to part with what she called "three quarters of her life," filled with her youth and beliefs, Ling Xi bravely made the decision. She expressed regret that if only she hadn't held back her true feelings, perhaps Zheng Li would have loved her first. Mowgli listened patiently, affirming her awakening from her dream. He shared a thought he'd read in a book: that speaking one's regrets is the beginning of healing, and offered to be her confidant.

To comfort her, Mowgli crafted a white lie, hoping she would soon forget the pain of her heartbreak. That evening, Ling Xi and Mowgli found a letter from Daren Law Firm at their doorstep. Ling Xi recognized it as Tang Cheng's attempt to reconcile but, determined to win their "protracted war," refused to give in. She declared she would maintain her strong will and dignity, like a hunter with her prey.

She sent Mowgli to tell Tang Cheng to apologize in person. Mowgli delivered Ling Xi’s message to Tang Cheng, who expressed disappointment that Ling Xi expected her to grovel despite Tang Cheng's efforts to reach out. Tang Cheng, in turn, furiously told Mowgli to relay to Ling Xi that she wouldn't apologize and was only reaching out because she feared Ling Xi would be lonely without her.

When Mowgli relayed Tang Cheng's message, Ling Xi retorted, accusing Tang Cheng of being the lonely one during middle school. The two friends continued their heated exchange through Mowgli, refusing to yield to each other. Meanwhile, Mr. Hou tried to convince Lu Ziyue to join his law firm. Lu Ziyue preferred his independent work, only taking cases he liked. Mr. Hou pressed him, asking why he took Tang Cheng's case if he was so principled.

Mr. Hou then revealed that Tang Cheng had deeply offended Mr. Ma, a major client, by walking out on him. He worried that Tang Cheng’s career was in jeopardy unless someone could secure Mr. Ma’s case. Lu Ziyue reluctantly agreed to help, but was then surprised when Mr. Hou led him to a restaurant owned by Mr. Ma, planning to ambush the client there. Lu Ziyue realized he was being used as bait.

Back home, Bai Yiling received a box of mooncakes from Zheng Li with a heartfelt, handwritten card that read, "Hope we can celebrate every festival together in the future." Recalling Zheng Li's past kindnesses, she began to wonder if he harbored feelings for her. Mustering her courage, she went to Zheng Li's office to confront him.

Unaware he was on a Bluetooth phone call, she expressed her discomfort with his perceived "confession," explaining that she had just started a new job and was trying to move past a failed relationship, wishing to avoid workplace gossip. Just then, several female employees burst into the office, each holding mooncakes and cards, effusively thanking Zheng Li for his thoughtful gifts, specifically mentioning the handwritten cards and their favorite flavors.

Bai Yiling was mortified to realize that Zheng Li had mass-distributed the gifts. She quickly pretended nothing had happened and made a hasty exit, whispering her relief that he hadn't heard her earlier remarks. Unbeknownst to her, Zheng Li had deliberately sent the gifts to everyone to spare her any awkwardness, while still genuinely holding a special affection for the intelligent and gentle Bai Yiling.

Mr. Hou arranged a dinner with Mr. Ma, bringing along Tang Cheng and Lu Ziyue, forcing Tang Cheng to apologize. Tang Cheng, internally raging, was advised by Lu Ziyue to use a calming technique of deep breathing and counting to avoid an outburst. Mr. Ma, noting Tang Cheng’s presence, demanded a sincere apology and a bow of her head.

Tang Cheng reluctantly complied, but when asked to explain her mistake, she defiantly suggested that if Mr. Ma enjoyed eating animal parts, he shouldn't complain if, in a cosmic twist, humans became the "iron plate roasted hands" of extraterrestrial beings. Infuriated, Mr. Ma rose to leave, but Mr. Hou intervened, blaming Tang Cheng's recent science fiction obsession and scolding her to remain silent.

Meanwhile, Ling Xi at her office learned from an employee that Tang Cheng had gone to a "Hongmen Banquet." Recalling that Tang Cheng had stood up Mr. Ma for her own sake, Ling Xi decided to set aside their quarrel. She declared to Mowgli that only she could bully Tang Cheng, and now it was time for them to go support her friend.
